You are the OP and so that's who I am responding to... a bit on the defensive. This speaks to your character.. You really should try to not be so transparent. I taught Economics, Statistics, and Math at the high school and community college level. I had one of you in my class. When he tried the usual "commie, blah, blah" garbage.. I had him download data and do a simple calculation. When I asked him what the answer was... he pouted and dropped out the next day. He (just like you) want affirmation. No, I taught in Idaho and Nevada. From my viewpoint having worked and lived with a few hundred teachers.. I have met one that would align with the one mentioned in the OP.. but that can't be, can it?

First, I am married to a teacher and have been since 2008. Second, I have taught at the high school and community college level. So I have a background... thanks for assuming and as usual make yourself look less than brilliant. I know your type.. your factual sources are simply subjective opinions that you agree with. If you are truly objective... you do not need someone else to summarize or report stuff for you. When I want info on jobs for example.. what do I do? I go to the raw data. Raw data... not someone giving me an opinion on the data.

Should breastfeeding be allowed in public?
impartialobserver replied to Eli45's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
I would vote yes for allowing it in public. It does not bother me in the least.. If you think it is a sexual act... then this shows that you have never had kids and are not a woman. This is like saying that because you as a man use a urinal and therefore expose your unit even in the slightest that you are inviting gay sex... -
I believe in verifiable, objective facts not making assumptions based on the existence of one or a few outliers. BTW.. verifiable, objective facts is not links to articles, subjective opinions, and supposed experts weighing in. My guess is that you think that all teachers (100% of them) are of this ilk. All or nothing logic is for those who can't grasp nuance or grey area.

Next difference between urban and rural voters is land use. The urban voter ventures out to the outdoors occasionally and views it as a shiny new toy or novelty. You should preserve it and keep it nice and shiny. The rural voter views it as an asset. Something that you should use and if possible, preserve. The rural person is more likely to make a living off the land so it makes sense that they come at it from the viewpoint of productivity and not novelty. There is this narrative that if you preserve the pristine outdoors that you will get tourism dollars... that is not always the case.

First a trickle....Now a flood
impartialobserver replied to Goddess's topic in Health, Science and Technology
Every forum has the one-trick pony. The person who obsesses about one topic. The topic could be craft beer in Winnipeg and my guess is that the OP would inevitably turn it into a discussion about COVID. -
A few years ago, I took three "Conservative" guys to the remote Frank Church Wilderness in Central ID. A lot of big talk beforehand. Yet, we turned on to the dirt road at north fork, Idaho and their "explorer" veneer melted away. There was no cell service, no gas stations, and their romantic view of the untouched wilderness turned to "What do they do here"? Was here for two days and upon getting to Salmon.. it was a frantic rush to charge their cell phones, get a cappucino, and such.

In my teenage years, I spent a lot of time in very remote and rural central and Eastern Idaho. One observation is that those in the few small towns were basically on equal footing in the socioeconomics. Yes, they were white but there was no poor part of town and no wealthy part either. The houses were remarkably similar and modest. The jobs in these towns were somewhat simple.. restaurant, retail, local government, or federal government. Compare that with any town above 100,000... there is always a run down section and the opposite.. Why does this matter? Simple. In cities, this inequity (does not matter if it is fair or just) drives the economic policies.

Trump loves the spotlight. Therefore, he will never be anonymous. I do not believe that he will be the front runner in 2024. I know diehard Trump Conservatives here in mostly red Northern Nevada who are tiring of him. This is not to say that they have went blue but they would vote for DeSantis over Trump in a second.

There is plenty of evidence that says that in most developed nations.... the number of people who identify as regularly going to church and/or devoutly religious is declining. This is not a sign of moral decay IMO. I strongly disagree that there is any direct correlation between religiosity and morality.

Can you prove that their is going to be an accident on that person's section of the highway every single day? I use highway 395 southbound for a certain section (18 miles) every day.. there is not an accident on it every single day.

If the truth is that the student was initially arrested for trespassing ( no matter how legit the arrest was) then claiming that he was arrested for something that occurred after that is a bit disingenuous. It reminds me of when our dept ruled against someone's appeal because they kept giving wrong information. Afterwards, he claimed it was due to his being white and living in Hawthorne, NV. He kept this up even when we pointed out in black and white that he misspelled the name of the employer 3 times and gave wrong times of employment on 3 occassions.

More cars in a limited space equals more accidents. Its not that complicated. Also, more cars equals less empty space on the roads and therefore more perceived competition for road space. Worst drivers that I have ever seen were in Salt Lake City during a time when they were in major road construction mode prior to the Winter Olympics. Typically, back roads extend one's commute. More traffic lights and lower speed limits. If I take the highway to work, commute takes 45 minutes. Stay off the highway and it takes 1 hour 20 minutes at the very least if not more.

They should because you say so... Ok, that makes so much sense. In the US, if you look at migration data from the Census you discover that they are not moving from Urban area to the country. Instead, they are moving from one urban area to yet another urban area. The only exceptions are somewhat dubious.. the bedroom community that is 20 to 30 miles from the major metro.

Yes. Average home price is currently $485K. It has been as high as $565K as of late November 2022. Additionally, when it comes to single family homes, there is precious little inventory for sale. The only truly available units are those at the high end of the price scale. Anything remotely affordable is off the market in less than 3 days.

Can you prove that first claim with raw data? No links, no opinions, no articles. Understood? They do not need to love anyone. They willingly choose to live in a city and like the comfort/options of it. When I go to the more rural places with or without kids... I simply leave politics out. Why? Because I do not actually care all that much about politics. Therefore, it is not all that difficult.
