  1. So in short, you want affirmation, and it hurts your poor feelings that you are not getting that.
  2. Another jump in logic... that must be some good stuff. I have mentioned nothing about gun control and when I challenged you to prove it.. you dodged.
  3. Take another hit off the pipe. You are jumping topics like no other.
  4. Not all rural people are paranoid. This one just happens to be. Your data has some serious issues. I am going to call BS on your source. Yes, i read it but I know small town Idaho and have lived in these towns unlike you. And when I look at the crime data, the numbers do not add up. One place that I lived has a population of 35 spread out over 40 miles of dirt road... And yet there is supposedly a crime every day... yeah, that's bogus. Sorry but crime stats in general do not back up your theory that criminals would drive 60 miles one way to rob a house that from the outside looks rather modest and therefore nothing of value to steal. 60 miles.... that takes gas money and when you arrive at this seemingly random place and find a very modest trailer with a beat up 65 ford pickup... its doubtful that the payoff is worth it. Hence, why you would go to a posh suburb (5 miles away versus 60) where folks are a bit more relaxed. I love how you think that a criminal is going to know the location of a small rural town. I have only met 3 people who know of this town's existence let alone where it is. And yet low life criminal is going to know exactly where to go... you have quite the sense of humor.
  5. I disagree. However, the stereotypical white supremacists like Richard Spencer are not as common as people think. A while ago, I did some exhaustive research trying to find a number for the population of white supremacists. The best raw number I could find is 634 groups with an average population of 45 per group. If you take this at face value, that is 28530 and the US population is roughly 325 million so quite uncommon.
  6. I challenge you to show you where I explicitly stated anything about banning guns. Show some character now...
  7. Statistically speaking... small percentage of the population (both general and LGTBQ)...
  8. Another case of good ol' fashioned recency bias. A rare event happens yesterday... so that means it will start happening more often.
  9. Having worked for a state government for now 7.5 years.. I can't think of a quick process that was ever done. Anything that we do in this office takes months and usually you have to seek out person x, person y, and person z to get approvals and so on. I like what I do and all but it is quite the cluster*** getting the simplest of things done.
  10. He is the one who claimed to have the 400 guns. I never went to his house to verify this. He said that he lived in Bruneau and because he knew of certain landmarks in the area.. I came to the conclusion that he probably did live there. Bruneau does not have a dedicated police station or any public servants of any kind. It would be under the jurisdiction of Owyhee County and so quite the distance for a cop to travel. If it was on a major thoroughfare, you may have a small point. However, it is not near a major highway nor is there any signage pointing you to it. You have to know where you are going in order to find this place. If you travel on Interstate 84 in Idaho.. the word, "Bruneau" does not appear even once. Oh... but a criminal from Boise is going to drive 60 miles one way to a place that they very likely does not even know exists... I think not.
  11. My commute is about 45 minutes one way. Not the worst... commutes in the Bay area are far worse. That being said, it is comical to think that a government (except China) could mandate that someone live in these 15 minute cities and then not be able to leave them. From a purely efficiency viewpoint.. it makes sense to have population density, folks living close to work, etc.. but there is this thing called choice.
  12. Again, not forced. Forced would mean do something (get vaccinated) or lose my job. The other options; testing, appeal, or quit were unpleasant but not really that terrible. Oh.. and get this, we received this notice a month before anyone had to do anything. So, the iron-fisted narrative that you so crave simply is not true.
  13. I grew up in Idaho which had a reputation for being a haven for White Supremacists. We did have the Aryan Nations stronghold in Hayden Lake (far north about 75 miles from Canadian Border). However, in 32 years living in ID.. I saw 1 (maybe 2) that were unmistakably White Supremacist. Maybe they were practicing their hate in secret... who knows. However, the point is that the adamant, militant, outspoken White Supremacist like what you see in the movie, American History X, is not that common. Now do I respect these types? Not at all. What a waste of time and energy to spend one's life in a perpetual state of seething hatred of people that you do not actually know.
  14. Except that the criminal who wants the 400 guns has an extremely low probability of knowing that they exist and where to find them. I encountered this guy through an odd chain of events (internet forum followed up by one-off community meeting).
  15. I would hope that they can. As of yet, they are 9 and 6 and that bridge will not be crossed for a while. They were not vaccinated so explain to me how they would become infertile due to COVID?
  16. Forced by my definition is where I have no options.. no mention of quality of options. There were three options... get vaxxed, get tested every friday, or appeal. An example of being forced would be get the vaccination or get fired immediately. BTW. I live in the US (Nevada to be specific). As for others in my office, not every one was on board. So what did they do? They chose to get tested and do the monotonous paperwork. Oh.. get this, that policy ended in May 2022 and today.. not a word about it. They got over it.. what a novel concept.
  17. And this is the time where you drop the mic (hopefully you know what this phrase refers to).
  18. No muffing. We have 3 steps before we ever post it to the public. None of these can be finalized until July 1. After this, we have to have it posted for 3 weeks, select candidates, get them approved by HR, and then schedule interviews. And to due to accounting oddities... just because we hire someone on August 1... we have to have them start on a certain pay period.
  19. We have a 14, 000 person trailer park north of reno. it is called Sun Valley. As of the latest count.. it is roughly 95% white. In the state of NV, 85% of drug arrests that do not happen in LV are tied to someone living here. Also, the rate of rescidivism (committing crimes again or going back to jail/prison) is roughly 75%. The issue here is two fold.. lack of community (everyone is a transplant from somewhere) and drugs (mostly ease of access). Being that 18% of all employment is tied to naics code 72 (food establishments) and 15% tied to retail.. both low paying industries.. the odds are steep. So to echo what is written above.. it is not completely racial.
  20. still, was not forced. Even if I do not take the other two options (appeal, testing).. it would still have been quite the task to have me fired. You pretend like it was a huge deal for myself. Not much deliberating. Email came at lunchtime and by 4 pm on the next day, I had the first shot. And yet life went on as before.. but according to you, that can't be. "Extreme hardship".... a bit of an exaggerator, you are.
  21. forced is defined as having no options. There was a third option. Could have appealed it and went through that lengthy process. Getting the shot took 15 minutes and I had no ill effects of any kind. Life went on exactly the same after as it did before.
  22. Good question. Sketchers for shoes is one that I mostly opt for.. mostly due to price. When it comes to craft beer, I have a preference for two brewers (if I find them), Epic Brewing (Salt Lake City) and Ninkasi (Eugene, OR).
  23. Serious question.. have you ever considered creating a podcast or being an AM talk radio host? Not that I would consume your product.. but others would. Some like the fiery, impassioned types.. obviously I do not.
  24. another issue that I find where the urban and the rural differ is income. The urbanite is most likely a wage earner and therefore a certain predictability to that. Work x hours per week and get paid y dollars at given times. In the rural settings where one farms or ranches.. the income is not so regimented. Therefore one's view of taxation differs. Paying it every two weeks in relatively small chunks versus paying it once a year or so .... changes one's perspective.
