Ontario needs to invest in EVs as a realistic Option.
herbie replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
But it happened to that guy so it happens to everyone with EVs all the time. Don't you know how to interpret a headline to align with your worst preconceived stubborn beliefs? Put it alongside the tale of the guy sitting in his Tesla in -45 weather and how it took even longer to charge cuz he had to keep the heater on and how he said because of that it took 3 times as long to drive from Kamloops to Regina. Read that like the fault of an EV rather than the idi0t driver even attempting that drive in that weather in one. You'll see how that thinking works. -
Meanwhile in Brampton: New driver charged with having a beer while driving to ‘celebrate’ passing road test 20 minutes earlier caught behind the wheel with beer in hand....

Trump Lies to Federal Judge
herbie replied to Rebound's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Trump lies? Nooooo you gotta be kidding ! -
"The moral decline" started when people with views that which came before was better felt emboldened enough to spout their views without feeling embarrassed. One day you'll be old enough to realize patriotism is like Christianity, those who claim to be the loudest, are the least. Mere slaves to tradition.

Have your attendant roll you back into the corner FFS. That shit ended in about 1963. We're not drones that must prove we're Canadian by bending a knee and licking the flag. You present this of all things as a "divisive issue" ?

The sad thing about it all is the guy can't even speak to his own defence. Gotta use the same deflection, slandering of others, conspiratorial claims and is 'too important' to be accountable for his own actions. He's just been nailed to pay the $400,000 legal fees of the NY Times and reporters for suing them for telling the truth about him. hasn't publicly revealed his peronal taxes in eight years now, he doesn't want the fools that back him to see. Should he somehow qualify to be on the 2024 ballot and get elected, it won't be a massive brain fart of the American public like 2016, it will be The Triumph of The Ign0roids.

Leftists Just Getting More and More Revolting
herbie replied to WestCanMan's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
And Biden and Trudeau did that? Dumb enough to believe they "run" the economy and giving more control to the people that actually do will make things better? -
WTH are you talking about? WE decided not to have nuclear weapons 60 years ago, not someone else. We pissed off the Yanks at the time. Nobody wants any now either. Asking for a stockpile that can rust away like all thousands of trucks in a boneyard? At least those you could have used if they were needed. Stockpiling weapons is like stockpiling potato chips when you live next door to a 7-11.

Wouldn't that be like residents of Tsawwassen defending the selves from Point Roberts with nukes? Or Windsor from Detroit? Weapons of Mass Uselessness.

As so many of them confuse freedom with the "right" to be an a$$hole. -

Thankfully I don't live in the Untied States. I live where only a complete s##hole would think they have the "right" to promote hatred. -

WTH do you mean at what point? Say it on a proper forum, your post will be erased and you'll be booted. Print it on a pamphlet and you'll be arrested. Stand on a soap box on the corner and hope you're arrested before the crowd gets to you. -
My God you'd actually carry on a conversation with someone who'd believe absurd conspiracy theories and object to someone pointing out what's happening right in front of his eyes (that's so obvious no one would pretend it's a conspiracy), because the woman swore? Like she was delivering a message even simple common people could understand, in the same language they use around the coffee table? Pandering to the lunatic fringe.

Find me the guy that regrets being circumcised.... might help make your argument.

Both sides have beaten their heads against the wall for longer than I've been alive. And it's obvious to both they just haven't beaten them hard enough...

Because before the original free trade agreement that's the way it was. Isolationist policies and Branch Office arrangements, huge duties on foreign items that ensured no need for better productivity. Why bother to modernize production lines, innovate, automate or modernize? Simplistic visions of 'competition' in Canada will save us all? Like the 3 competitors who saw us open an ISP and decided they'd drive us out of business by offering a dollar less in a local dialup market of 2,000 customers? Or at the same time the 7 Pizza places offering 2for1 even 3for1 that's now TWO neither of which can afford an employee or even a delivery driver? Perhaps like the furniture maker I got my 1st real job at that was gone by 1980 as it couldn't market to all Canada and pretty much saturated the BC market by then. That's why a global market is better for you than a protected one. You might not be building Acadians and Frontenacs, but the millions of Caravans and Toyotas got you your house. Just like reselling motherboards and RAM from Taiwan got me this place. And the international competition got us all 128GB microSD cards for $20 rather than 20 Meg hard drives the size of a stretcher block for $1200.
