And "primary forests" simply means where it is most commercially feasible to perform forestry operations. I live there. Pellets are made from sawmill scrap, forest waste and logs not best suited for lumber. So some Old Growth" content might be included. No one cuts down evergreen timber just to make pellets. We do live in a market economy so if the sawmill isn't buying and a pellet plant is that's life. The tree's already cut down. Doesn't happen a lot and not for really good logs. And what's the author's alternative? Stop using the pellets and increase their CO2 output in those coal plants?

Pulp/paper, cardboard, pellets, bark/debris burned as fuel for pulp mills, etc. Do you think forestry workers just spend huge amounts for machinery, wages, fuel, time, etc. just so they can "raze entire forests" without a use for the wood and compensation for their time and labour? Think of the forestry workers every time you reach for the toilet paper.

Well for one we signed on to abide by the rule of law, international law, which states clearly that what Russia did was illegal, you cannot just invade another country without just cause. So, it is everyone's business when one or several nations decide it only applies when they want it to. I was a centrist, as far as American politics were concerned, until the riots started in Ferguson. I don't label myself as "conservative", even if some of my views are conservative. I'm not on a "team" and therefore don't have to defend the regressives.
