  1. I've begun to dabble in Twitter. It really is a cesspool. I think most people use it just to make themselves angry.

  2. Disney’s designation meant that the theme park could make its own decisions on the planning and permitting process for construction on its property, levy taxes to pay for its own fire-and-medical-response services and even generate some of its own electricity. Through that status, the company saved millions of dollars annually in fees and taxes, according to experts. SB 4 dissolves Disney's Reedy Creek Improvement District on June 1, 2023. The district, created by state law in 1967, exempts 38 miles of land Disney owns from most state and local regulations and allows Disney to collect taxes, follow its own building codes and provide emergency services for its six theme parks and resorts. Chapek (Disney’s CEO) responded with an announcement that Disney would stop contributing to political campaigns because of the controversy. The company directly contributed $5 million to Florida candidates in 2020, according to state records – but it is hard to see its total influence in campaigns given the number of corporate entities that are part of the Disney family, the plethora of political action committees and their reporting requirements, and the number of candidates. House sponsor Rep. Randy Fine, R-Brevard, said the special district designation provides an unfair competitive advantage over other tourist attractions. "We provide Disney things that we do not provide to their competitors. And that's fundamentally unfair," said Fine. While Congressman Charlie Crist, a Democratic candidate for governor, said Tuesday at the Capitol minutes after Fine filed the proposal: "What is he thinking? He's going to hurt our economy. He's going to hurt tourism. The notion that he's going after all those jobs, shame on him," said Democrats dismissed the GOP's free-market argument as smoke to conceal a Republicans rush to punish an iconic Florida corporation for its political speech. Also, Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith, D-Orlando piped in saying: “This is unhinged authoritarianism. This is about retribution. They are using the power of government to punish anyone who speaks out against them.” All the commotion has very little to do with the well-being of children and is all about politics as usual.

  3. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has revived discussions of the foreign policy significance of the U.S. tech industry. Companies like Apple, Google, Twitter, Amazon, and Meta have either threatened to shut down or have entirely shut down services in Russia. While immediate reactions have celebrated these companies for taking an active role in condemning the invasion and the ensuing humanitarian disasters, there are also some troubling implications when a few tech companies can conspire to shutdown critical digital services for an entire nation. These companies are so powerful that, if they were to cut services within the United States, we would be living in a digital desert. As long as a few companies have this much power, the old question remains: who watches the watchmen? https://americanaffairsjournal.org/2022/04/what-big-techs-response-to-russia-really-tells-us/

  4. Somewhere along the line, Americans lost sight of founding free speech principles, and I would hope that the Twitter acquisition by Musk will help restore some bedrock tenets in the private and public square: And yes, that includes hate speech...sorry Canada. Twitter will still have content limits for economic and legal reasons, but causing "progressive" meltdowns should not be one of them.

  5. It's a legitimate concern. However... If companies like "Apple, Google, Twitter, Amazon, and Meta" shut down maybe the internet would go all wild westy again like it was in the early 2000s. I liked that. It reminds me of that old song: Got along without ya before I met ya Gonna get along without ya now.

  6. I get that you posted a link from CBC, but what do you think it actually says once you cut to the chase? Sure, they tried to tie it to the leftist brand of "Don't say gay" by referencing the leftist misnomer in the title, and then saying "which critics say marginalizes LGBTQ people", but does the CBC actually mention anything from the bill to support their own title, or what the vaunted critics say? No, not at all. So your own link is just another perfect example of why people who don't appreciate BS & spin shun the leftist MSM. If I wrote about your post, and said: "Michael Hardner's "I love Nazis post" was his 7th post today", and I said that "critics say that your post favours Nazis", would that be legitimate? Would the title and opening lines be supported by any actual evidence worth noting? Of course not, but it would be matching the form and character of the CBC's article on the Florida bill. All that CBC could come up with to describe the bill is: Does that mean "Don't say gay"? Not the least little bit, because it also means "Don't say heterosexual". It just means "Don't talk to young children about what you do with your naughty bits or what they should do with their naughty bits". Don't be a groomer. Don't be a pervert. Don't try to indoctrinate children with your own sexual beliefs. CBC actually knows that because they have their own legal analysts who have looked at the bill but yet they did their level best to characterize the bill as "Don't say gay" because they have to toe the party line.

  7. I predict total exoneration. The judge who locked up convoy leader Litch was a Liberal candidate. The parameters for the inquiry are set. The truth of our future is three more years of Lib dictatorship followed by a characterization of anyone who isn’t Liberal by the Liberal-funded media as racist-misogynist-fringe with unacceptable views, producing — what else? — another Liberal PM, or a Conservative in name but Liberal in policy and substance.

  8. The big globalist tech industry is totally in a panic mode and are totally scared to death of Putin. This is why these cowardly pro censorship liars in the tech industry had to shut down RT.com because they were too frightened that too many people would be able to still get the other side of the story that those cowards don't want we the peasants to learn or know about when it comes to the Russian side of the story. To know one side of the story, is to know nothing at all. We the peasants are only allowed to get one side of the MSM big tech globalist pro censorship side of the story, and not the other alternative media side of the story. Censorship is alive and well today, and it is only going to get worse. But thanks to Elon Musk buying out Twitter, there may finally be no more globalist leftist lieberal controlled censorship left on Twitter. Now anyone who belongs to Twitter can get both sides of a story for a change. From my understanding, the left is going bonkers over this buy out. It would appear as though leftist lieberal wokeism is now dead on Twitter. A victory for free speech. ☺️ A big loss for censorship. ?

  9. It’s a very serious issue. A small percentage of the population may easily transition to a life without big tech, but for most it would hurt a lot. Enough to comply with whatever edict that might be imposed on them. But then there is the new digital currency that most of the G7 nations, and the West, want to replace their money system with. It was bad enough when Canadians had their bank accounts frozen because they were involved in protests that were deemed illegal by the federal government. No judge had ruled, no arrests been made. But these folks could no longer buy food. But with a ‘digital currency’ the government would have even more control over our lives. And who watches the watchers? Nobody, that’s what was demonstrated in front of our noses during the bank account seizures. And since most of the people are simply sheeple today, or useless eaters, then they’ll comply with any edict to keep the food coming.

  10. I've had the same doctor for 30 some-odd years. He and I are the same age and we both like to golf. His office is generally not busy (2 or 3 patients waiting) and he's a good doctor. My boys see him too. However our socialized medical system is full of holes. As I understand it, in Ontario the hospitals are given increasingly smaller budgets to operate from. Nurses are now part-time workers and general staffing has been cut all over to save capital. Yet we spent how much on The Rona? We spend money foolishly. Bike lanes comes to mind. We also did damage to our small business base. Dumb. Hospitals, Police and Ambulatory services need to have their budgets vastly increased. Nurses should be FULL-TIME and there should be more of them, there needs to be more doctors on staff at all times, A cop should be on very beat and visible, when an ambulance and/or fire fighter is needed, they should be there. We sacrifice so much of the budgets on dumb-ass crap, that increasing these vital services should be easy. All it takes...someone who isn't interested in corporate or lobbyist desires.

  11. I agree that the new greeting is just fine, and if they would have just switched it without fanfare then that would have been fine too, but they chose to use that moment as their coming out woke party, which was a real wakeup call to parents who use the words mom, dad, boy and girl and who aren't interested in changing their vocabulary to conform to woke stupidity.

  12. I agree with DeSantis for not having Florida educators teaching about sexual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten through third grade and for the provision that enables parents to sue if they allege schools or instructors have been in violation. Why would anyone want to discuss sexual orientation or gender identity with a 7yo when there are so many other topics of greater relevance to their development? (The word “gay” isn’t mentioned anywhere in the bill) Disney has been caught up in a wokeness crossfire. I’m against revisionism, just because you erase something, it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Yet Disney began an extensive review of its film library and determined which content included “negative depictions or mistreatment of people or cultures.” This included Ursula, the villainous sea witch from “The Little Mermaid”. Her dark color palette (lavender skin, black legs) could be viewed through a racial lens. Tinker Bell was marked for caution because she is “body conscious” and jealous of Peter Pan’s attention, according to the executives, while Captain Hook could expose Disney to accusations of discrimination or prejudice against individuals with disabilities because he is a villain. (Huh?) When it comes to their parks, they began with the retheming of Splash Mountain to disassociate its connection to slave African folk tales and revamped Pirates of the Caribbean ride by removing a scene depicting pirates selling women in an auction. The ludicrousness of it all reached a peak when they removed the “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls” greeting from some of its fireworks shows to be more inclusive. Now, the greeting is "Good evening, dreamers of all ages." Which I like and fail to see the big whoop, yet conservatives denounced it and were against the new greeting.

  13. Which is exactly why we need a national leader with a backbone. If Quebec wants to separate or segregate itself from the rest of Canada, fine. Here's the rules: 1. You will require your own currency. 2. You will require your own military. 3. You will NOT have autonomy over the St. Lawrence Seaway. 4. You will NOT receive any funding from Canada. Loans...perhaps. Handouts...certainly not. 5. You will deal with your own Native Relations. 6. Your population will require passports to leave Quebec. 7. We will grant the current population of Quebec a 1 year allowance to relocate to Canada. After that, your population will require a Visa to travel and will traverse proper channels for migration. 8. The Ottawa River is Canadian. 9. Trade between Quebec and Canada will be encouraged with a comfortable tariff system in place. 10. Canada will bypass Quebec with pipelines to our Maritime provinces. Have a nice day and enjoy... Oh and...please rename The Montreal Canadians? "Habs" seems appropriate...

  14. I agree with you. I think multiculturalism is great. But as you say Canadian first and foremost. In the US, everyone is an American first, then whatever your background is. Quebec does have a very integral place of Canada but I do believe it is over represented.

  15. I like Quebec. It gives Canada a unique flavour...if you will. I like the native people too...for the same reason. However I am not a fan of multi-culturalism. It's fine for people to hang on to their cultural roots, but first and foremost, they must be CANADIAN! Thus I think there should be only a Canadian flag in every classroom and the national anthem should be played every morning in schools. Our schools should focus on the beauty of Canada. The accomplishments of Canadians. The value of our abundant wide open spaces and natural resources.

  16. My head hurts! I read the original post and the response to a comment by the original poster. I suspect you are non white, non catholic and non male and maybe non Canadian. I cannot make hide nor hair of your blathering even giving your the benefit of thinking your subject has something to do with Quebec separation. What is your point? What are your objections and to what? Good luck straightening your thoughts out.

  17. Hi Scotty. Yup...it's me. Your non-religious fellow free-speech advocate. Teaching pre-teen kids about sexual behavior is a bad idea. Teaching them about abnormal sexual behavior is even worse. But not because of some religious reasons, as you elude to here, but because they're kids. You know...young people who are still trying to learn basic academic skills as well as basic social skills. But on the positive side...you got to say "pedophiles".

  20. I know that they are trying to limit the scope of the enquiry into how mean those truckers were and shift any focus off why the prime minister faked covid, skipped town, then acted like a two year old in front of the media. Then invoked an Emergencies Act before taking steps, ie visiting with convoy leaders, to diffuse the situation. No investigation into why they were running horses through a crowd or pulling unarmed truckers out of vehicles at gun point then clubbing people in the head like a fish. And they are trying to obstruct any investigation into these actions through fighting groups like the Canadian Civil Liberties Union. Our prime minister is a sick man. He needs some help

  22. If you changed the name from CRT to "All white people are inherently racist and no one else is, and almost everything bad that happens to POC is because of [insert racist insult against white people here]" the title would not seem the least bit unsupported by the content and underlying themes. So there ya go. Critical Race Theory could just as easily be called "The Woke Clown-Car Constitution" or "The Lexicon of Leftist Loserness". At the very best it's crack for reprobate trolls who failed at life and need some scapegoats because they can't look in a mirror or at their own family upbringing, at worst it's inflammatory, divisive drivel from the same people who tried to tell you that Brionna was killed for sleeping black and that "George Floyd's murder was a racist tragedy while Tony Timpa's unfortunate death was a completely dissimilar non-tragedy". Don't get me wrong: it's not a case where there's nothing in critical race theory that's worth discussing, the problem is that the overarching theme of it is so rabidly bigoted, stupid and hypocritical that it's a complete non-starter for intelligent discussion. A good comp for CRT is "Main Kampf". There's probably something in that book that makes sense, but if there is it's not worth discussing it because that would be lending credibility to a book/ideology that doesn't deserve to see the light of day.

  26. Well, I’ll tell you what. My sources tell me that the Russian forces in Ukraine have picked up some POW’s. A motley bunch of Ukrainian Nazis, and then some American forces conducting operations in Ukraine, on the down low I assume. We’ll find out what kind of person Putin is by how he handles the POW situation(The story will apparently break within the next couple of weeks). And if he will sell natural gas and grain to Europe after they’ve tried to bring Russia into financial ruin. I tend to agree with you on the civil war theory, but NATO has been trying to provoke Russia for several years. And the US president now craps his pants. Strange times we live in.

  27. So here's the thing... Multiple FISA warrants issued with multiple known lies in them. Michael Flynn...They threatened the man with investigations into his son! George Papadopoulos...released after 12 days because there was no there there. RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA January 6th and the case of the insurrectionist Chewbaka-Guy... Doctor Anthony Fauci. The 2020 election and the case of the broken water main... Hunter Fuckin' Biden's laptop! and on and on and on... I don't believe a Gawd Damn word the "establishment" spews forth anymore. We are all just expected to disregard our instincts and senses...'Oh no...no no...it's not what you see. THIS is a PEACEFUL demonstration.' They were so fucked up over Trump, that they took a semi-functional government and nation, and tore it to sheds for Hate's sake. It's torn my fresh, big ol' homeland in 2 as well. For this I doubt I can ever trust them again. The only true and poetic justice that come of this...this...aboration...would be for Trump to become POTUS again, march all these nonces into the Whitehouse and just go, 'You, you, you, you...oh and you 2 over there...ur all fired. Pack it up and get out. General Flynn's men will escort you. As for the rest of you...each will go through a Presidential Investigation after which the POTUS will either have General Flynn escort you out too, or you'll have new marching orders.! Class dismissed.' THAT I would pay money to see.
