  1. Listening yesterday to Dominic LeBlanc overview the status of trade talks with the US and seeing the headline this morning of 'Washington demanding 'entry fee' from Ottawa before trade talks' is making a lot more sense of why no 'deal' has been agreed to... The obvious reason a 'deal' hasn't been agreed to is that what has been on the table isn't in Canada's best interests. That's been obvious. I found it interesting though that he sounded positive with the discussions that are happening in the background, but also said they're not going to meet to simply listen to more concessions the US wants us to make while disregarding any concessions on their part. The news this morning of the US wanting an 'entry fee' for discussions to begin is a big non-starter... Trump's word isn't worth a nickel anyway and blackmailing a one-time strong ally into paying to negotiate should tell Canadian's everything they need to know of why no 'deal' has been made.

  2. Don't forget that the Trump years are marked by bailouts for the agriculture industry due to trade wars with China. Do you know if those are factored in ? In any case, there is no dealing with this administration. The timing of MCUSA discussions is unfortunate but we have to wait until a more serious admin comes into office.

  3. 🤣 Oh ya, I remember a bunch here filling their diapers because CBC told them he had dual citizenship with the US by birth. Then they all had to pipe down when Carney showed up with 3 citizenships and claiming to be "European."

What BS can you come up with for his engaging high profile business leaders from the Canadian sectors that are/will be most affected by US trade demands, and why do you see this a problem?

  10. Yes, surprisingly business leaders are conservative, liberal, or any other political affiliation you want to choose. You're an idi0t, and that's being polite...

  11. I have never heard US government support of any sort discussed by the American side. It needs to be talked about by the Canadian side too. I’m agnostic on supply management and would actually welcome more US involvement in our consumer telecom sector but we need to have an honest and open discussion about that and everything else the US wants. For example, we have a right to know exactly what the US does with data it already collects from digital service companies in Canada. Could my opinions here be hoovered up by a hostile US administration?

  13. Whenever Trump’s officials talk about agriculture and the need to scrap supply management here, they should be reminded that a large proportion of their own agricultural workers are undocumented. In other words, they are insisting we take more of products produced illegally by them. How on earth are we supposed to compete on a level playing field with them?

  15. I'm saying this is another dumb performative mockery of justice that will come to morning. That this is all absurd as charging Comey or threatening the Fed Chair with legal action because "he" wouldn't let Trump manipulate interest rates. This is exactly what Trump advertised when boasting about his plan to weaponize the DOJ to target political opposition and people in his enemies list. It's exactly why he appointed unprincipled, unqualified sycophants. And you've just self selected as someone dumb enough to think it's real.

  18. It's a fact it's been alleged. Todd Blanch says the SPLC was paying extremists to stoke racial hatred. The head of the SPLC however said the money in question was paid to informants to gather information on extremist organizations. Big if so I think for the moment I'll take the SPLC's take on this. It looks like a legal frivolity meant to produce a political distraction.

  19. AP The Justice Department alleges the civil rights group defrauded donors by using their money to fund the very extremism it claimed to be fighting, with payments of at least $3 million between 2014 and 2023 to people affiliated with the Ku Klux Klan, the United Klans of America, the National Socialist Party of America and other extremist groups. “The SPLC was not dismantling these groups. It was instead manufacturing the extremism it purports to oppose by paying sources to stoke racial hatred,” Blanche said. ********** We all knew this was a fraudulent DNC front group. But I had no idea just how scummy they were. I knew the left was dirty. But I am shocked at just how nasty this is. They paid the KKK so they could say white supremacy was rising. They paid people to steal documents and then paid other people to take the fall. They funneled money to fake groups designed to sound like conservative hat groups like Exalted Knights of the KKK and Fox Photography. They say this is politically motivated. I say hell yeah. We should all be politically motivated to stop this b.s. This, on the day Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick resigns for defrauding the government and stealing funds from FEMA. She will likely go to jail for that. And more information is coming out about Omar that I am about to post in a different thread. The left, especially the left that holds power, is insanely dirty. Let's clean house now.

  21. You guys may recall the last year Nova Scotia enacted a travel ban into his backcountry because of fire risk. I said at the time that it was probably not constitutional and was a gross over reaction and severely inappropriate. Those on the left rushed to defend the action stating that we have no right to go on to public land or into the backcountry and the government could do what it's wants and if a bunch of rednecks had to stay home and stay out of the woods too damn bad. Well, as is off in the case it turns out I was quite correct and the courts agree that the reaction was grossly disproportional and unconstitutional We will see if they appeal but that behavior was never okay. The Supreme Court of Nova Scotia struck down the province’s August 2025 "woods travel ban" on April 17, 2026. The court ruled that the government acted unreasonably and failed to consider the Charter rights of Nova Scotians when it prohibited entry into nearly 80% of the province’s land during a period of high wildfire risk. CTV News +2 Key Findings of the Ruling Lack of Charter Consideration: The court found no evidence that the Minister of Natural Resources considered Section 6 mobility rights or Section 7 liberty rights before issuing the blanket proclamation. Unconstitutional Process: While recognizing that governments can act in emergencies, the court held that the decision-making process was fundamentally flawed because it did not balance the ban’s impact on residents' rights with its public safety objectives. Arbitrary Nature: Evidence highlighted that the ban prohibited low-risk activities like hiking while allowing high-risk industrial activities (e.g., forestry and mining) to continue under permits, which the challengers argued was irrational and arbitrary. Canadian Constitution Foundation +4 Background of the Case The Proclamation: Issued on August 5, 2025, by Natural Resources Minister Tory Rushton, the ban prohibited travel in all woods—including private land—to prevent wildfires during a historic drought. Heavy Fines: Violations carried a maximum penalty of up to $25,000 (plus fees) or six months in prison. The Challengers: The case was brought by Jeffrey Evely, a Canadian Armed Forces veteran with PTSD who deliberately walked into the woods to receive a fine ($28,872.50) so he could challenge the law. He was supported by the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) and the Canadian Constitution Foundation (CCF).

  24. Yeah, and like we've already mentioned several times, that's infrastructure that could have been in place to help insulate us from the latest trade war with the US. We would have more oil to export plus minerals from Ontario... The jobs lost in Windsor would be mitigated by job gains in the mining industry. The Libs are even admitting that they need to start those projects now in order to protect us in the future, while never mentioning the coulda, shoulda, woulda factor involved, or that Carney was an advisor for the last few years of that counter-productive horseshit lol. Our current leaders are always a day late and dollar short, despite the fact that they spend money like drunk sailors with government CC's.

  33. You're a freaking cultist who refuses to talk about what it means when A TRILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF INVESTMENT FLEES THE COUNTRY. You want to make this into a discussion about how I chose to illustrate what $1 Trillion looks like. FYI I didn't put that there so that conservatives would understand it. We know what a Trillion dollars is. We know how many lucrative jobs that would mean for Canadians, or how many jobs were lost by all of the investment that our gov't scared away. That was there so that YOU could get a grasp on what "losing $1 Trillion in investment looks like". This is a thread about THE LPoC DRIVING AWAY $1 TRILLION IN INVESTMENT IN CANADA, not about how I chose to deliver the message.

  35. Experts estimate that between now and 2050, the increasing number of EVs on the road will require an additional 1% annually in electricity production. That's much less than the 3.2% average annual growth rate in electricity production that the U.S. has experienced over the past 70 years. Efficiency drives demand.......... it is an inverse relationship. Those figures indicate that the grid can handle the challenge of increased EV adoption. Political rhetoric is powerful ................ and the Kool-aide is tasty ......... more the pity.

  37. They labeled a number of conservative groups "hate groups" and put them on a "hate watch" for moderately conservative positions. Biden/Obama then used this to surveil people based on very flimsy, partisan definitions. Just like they payed fascists to stage riots, Biden himself was a fascist in surveillance of political adversaries. Yet the ACLU remained quiet on blatant violations of civil liberties. Why?

  38. They’re advisors to Carney not “working on a trade agreement” And we all know nobody would be stupid enough to signal a trade deal with Trump before the midterms and maybe we just wait out trump’s term since he can’t run again and even fellow republicans don’t support his trade war. Trump has shown repeatedly that any deal with him is worthless anyway. The usefulness of the conservative advisors is probably to help him manage domestic politics not Trump.

  42. You cannot possibly complain about this. Trump is actively pushing for gerrymandering every Republican state--TX especially. Ohio passed a constitution amendment for fair districting without gerrymandering, and the Republicans LITERALLY ignored it. And on and on. You're whining about Democrats playing by the Republican game. Democrats have been proposing anti-gerrymandering legislation for ages. There's a bill in congress right now. Guess who has opposed it at every turn? You don't seem to have caught on yet, but Republicans are, at this point, staunchly anti-democratic. They do not want "the people" voting. They do not want "the people" to be fairly represented. The numbers are not on their side. Instead of changing their positions and their arguments, they change the districting lines. Gerrymandering sucks. It should be illegal. No matter who is doing it. But like most things in the Trump era, the worst aspects of American politics are celebrated as a feature. The retaliation to Trumps nationwide gerrymandering push isn't great, but you can't expect Democrats to not fight fire with fire. Newsome's California effort was actually very clever. It was contingent on what happens in TX. If TX does X, we will do Y to counteract it. Put the blame where it belongs.
