Muslims are pouring into Western countries, COMPLETELY against the will of their people, and yet leftist governments are standing in the doorway, holding it wide, eagerly waving them in. People are starting to riot in places like Ireland, the UK, Spain, and Belgium, but their leftist governments keep bringing in more Muslims, who are also starting to riot. By every measurement, economic or social, Muslims are a disaster in the West. They don't integrate. Do we go to 45/47 and say, remove the tariff on Canadian built cars and parts or do we allow China to flood the market with EVs that are better and cheaper than what's on the market now. I just got a new EV, It was made in Mexico. It's great, but was definitely expensive. I'm leasing it because I'm making a bet that by the time this Lease is done, if not before, I'll be in the market for a BYD. This is the problem with tariffs, it lets governments pick winners and losers in different industries. Also the Big Three have admitted they're profitability is being killed by these tariffs. It's only a matter of time before TACO has to back down or car companies we do want have to substantially raise prices.

Here's my big problem with it. This isn't about government safety this is about government using overreach to compensate for its lack of competency Everybody has heard about global warming. Every single government everywhere in Canada at every level is aware that we can expect more serious fire seasons from time to time. So what did they do about it? What improvements did they make to deal with difficult fire seasons? Their job is to protect people and allow them to go about their day and enjoy their activities. Do they improve forest fire fighting capability? Did they offer courses or anything to teach people about how to be in the woods? Hell they could have introduced a free permit system so at least they knew who was in the woods and where but people could still go in the woods if conditions were dry. Did they do that? No they did absolutely nothing even though they knew this was going to happen. And now they want to pretend that it's a crisis that needs immediate resolution that involves curtailing people's rights to use canadian land. So what we're doing is authorizing it's authority if it doesn't do its job by removing our rights to the activities their job to make sure we had access to in the first place. That is an absolutely horrible precedent to set. The government can ban any activity instead of doing its job and making sure those activities are available.

This is about right. Based on their own guidelines, if they delay you because of their own mistakes for more than 9 hours, you are entitled to a compensation of $2,400 with the hotel and meal vouchers on top. This is why sometimes they start offering compensation before the flight takes off, so hopefully someone accepts lower compensation. In my case they did nothing - left us behind, gave us vouchers that were shy of 1/2 of what we were entitled to get and even this money is nowhere to be found! Would be asking for more now, as they continue wasting my time.

Israel has every reason to claim at least one journalist in a group it has killed was a Hamas operative because that gives it justification for killing all of them. As long as it can kill or intimidate all non-embedded journalists in Gaza and keep foreign journalists out it can better control what we see from there. If the Israelis had any interest in letting the truth be known they would admit reputable foreign journalists into Gaza. That they won’t do that speaks volumes.

It's not because of Trump. Carney and JT before him are trying to protect the Canadian auto industry. Lots of jobs in vote-rich Ontario. Now with Trump attacking those jobs himself it becomes much more complicated. I'm of the opinion that it's only a matter of time before our market is dominated by Chinese EVs. I just don't know the financial implications of turning our back on the domestic auto industry. But Trump's rhetorical is making such a move more likely.

But as we see here, China is using it's leverage as a buyer of a Canadian product to inflict damage on another industry. There are no easy answers here. But protecting the Big 3 seems like a relic of the past. And when people crow about how EVs need government help to remain competitive, look at what's happening here. The Canadian government is propping up domestic automotive production, even in the face of insulting rhetoric coming from the US to keep Chinese EVs off the market. How is that not an indirect subsidy of ICE manufacturing?

I have to jump into this and ask....what the hell are you talking about? Your employer pays you a salary/wage. They do not pay your state or federal income taxes. That is a deduction from your wage/salary....not the companies. The end consumer ultimately pays your wage/salary. If your employers input costs increase so does the price of your product/services so all stays equal after paying your wage/salary, and obviously other fixed or variable costs. I'll agree that pricing is generally market driven but when you have industry sectors being hit with the same tariffs and increased input costs guess what....prices increase across the sector and inflation goes up.

Fishing, hiking, Atv riding, etc... are not banned! Plenty of place to do those things without going into the woods. Ever seen a forest fire near your home? I have! It's scary and a temporary restriction on woods travel is a sensible, effective way of avoiding them.
