It's a church service, not a concert. Church services often have musicians and visiting preachers. They often have established parking areas. No need for a permit.

That means it's about politics (power and control) to them, not defending liberal democratic values. We're seeing liberal democracy crumbling before our eyes in both the US and Canada. I don't agree with a bunch of this singer's beliefs, but freedom of expression and freedom of religion aren't fundamental democratic rights designed for speech and religious beliefs government officials agree with, they're designed for the ones they don't. You don't need a permit to hold a religious service or evening of Christian music in a church. In addition (and IMO of course), cancelling virtually any peaceful assembly to appease wild eyed slobbering extremists of any stripe (that's any stripe Herb) is and should be an affront to any sensible person who subscribes to any set of values / freedoms worth defending.
