  1. You have a very positive outlook, @betsy. Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately for the World's economies, Americans chose a charlatan as their leader. There were major warning signs that went ignored. We thought it prudent to elect a man who bankrupted six casinos, to "fix" our economy. In very short order, he has turned the World against us, and has managed to cause a great economic disaster, not just in the U.S., but around the globe. I don't know how we are going to weather this. I suppose only time will tell.

  8. In 1972, Pierre Trudeau stood alone on a stage in Toronto before a huge red maple leaf. Jean Chretien said we're the best country in the world. Heck, Laurier did it. ======== Carney? I see a Diefenbaker 1958.

  9. Well, at least he said it! Carney had stated recently that pipelines won't be built unless ALL indigenous chiefs agree to it. What's new? And........ Carney won't repeal anti-pipeline legislation https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/lilley-unleashed-carney-wont-repeal-anti-pipeline-legislation That means........... It'll be the same freakin' bureaucratic bullshit! In other words - we can all forget the dream of pipe-lines and the road to self-reliance! It won't happen! isn't this what they're saying? That, this is an EXISTENTIAL threat? So....whats he on about all chiefs must agree? We need a DECISIVE leader! How many chiefs are going to be the deciding factor whether we sink or float? And, you bet - environmentalists will also be in the equation! 😁 BULLSHIT!

  10. Lol. Woke is an anti-White, anti-West suicidal cult driving Western civilization to the brink of bloody civil war. The issue is always the revolution. Destabilize & replace is their ultimate goal. It will begin in Europe with violent deadly clashes against Islam and spread its way across the West, out of control.

  11. You are REALLY IGNORANT if you believe that one mentally defective throwing a rock is "the face of the left today." 🤮 I was driving through Orange County CA years ago with my gf in her car, when a rock tossed from an overpass hit the windshield which could have killed her if it managed to penetrate the windshield. OC was a hotbed of right wingers back then, so by YOUR LOGIC, that incident was "the face of the right in the '90s." IOW, you have lost touch with REALITY, CdnLIAR.

  12. I think that one's actually one of the cult's liars. He went to great lengths to try to distract people from the fact that he got caught lying about covid job losses/bounceback jobs. The cultist dolts, like robo and eyeball, will just regurgitate the propaganda and then ignore any replies that are over their head. Eyeball will say "No maths", and Robo will chime in with "You're just failing to memorize and repeat my blatant BS because of your own cognitive dissonance".

  13. What's happening to people like @gatomontes99 right now is rather sad. Campaign: Trump's policies as described and their effects described sound great! In office: Trump's policies weren't as described and the the effects are the opposite of what was promised, still great! Because they have no grounding in reality. It's simple cultish devotion. Like the notion of papal infallibility, no matter what kind of mess is being made or the harm being done, if Trump did it, it's right. Hail Melania, full of grace. Don't look at the news, don't listen to all those economists (heretics!) and whatever you do, don't look at your 401K. Just have faith. He moves in mysterious ways.

  14. https://www.epi.org/press/new-report-finds-that-the-economy-performs-better-under-democratic-presidential-administrations/ Annual real GDP growth is 1.2 percentage points faster during Democratic administrations than Republican ones (3.79% versus 2.60%). Total job growth has averaged 2.5% annually during Democratic administrations, while it is barely over 1% annually during Republican administrations. Applied to today’s total workforce, this would imply nearly 2.4 million more jobs created every year under Democratic administrations. The Democratic advantage is even larger in private job growth than it is for total job growth. Notably, business investment is higher during Democratic administrations, with investment growth running at more than double the pace than it does during Republican ones. Average rates of inflation—both overall and “core” measures that exclude volatile food and energy prices—are slightly lower during Democratic administrations. Families in the bottom 20% of the income distribution experience 188% faster income growth during Democratic administrations.

  15. https://www.belfercenter.org/publication/historical-puzzle-us-economic-performance-under-democrats-vs-republicans "Since World War II, Democrats have seen job creation average 1.7 % per year when in office, versus 1.0 % under the GOP. US GDP has averaged a rate of growth of 4.23 percent per annum during Democratic administrations, versus 2.36 per cent under Republicans, a remarkable difference of 1.87 percentage points. This is postwar data, covering 19 presidential terms—from Truman through Biden. If one goes back further, to the Great Depression, to include Herbert Hoover and Franklin Roosevelt, the difference in growth rates is even larger." "The last five recessions all started while a Republican was in the White House (Reagan. G.H.W. Bush, G.W. Bush twice, and Trump)."

  16. How Trump manufactured his fake tariffs. This is what happens when you put ignorant dishonest people in powerful positions.
    1 point
  17. Well that is the bright side a train wreck. I will remind you this is the opposite of what Trump said would happen and the opposite of why people voted for him. He promised stock markets would go up “on day 1”amd has never said stocks going down was a good thing You understand that when markets crash, companies go out of business, people lose their jobs and their savings? Not everyone can afford to ride it out or buy the dip especially if they are at or near retirement

  18. I was kind of neutral about the U.S. election. While I agreed with some things Trump advocated such as stopping all the illegal immigrants from coming in, I don't recall hearing about his plan to impose massive tariffs on his next door neighbours. So I can't agree with those who say Trump is a good choice. I think the tariff war he started with the rest of the world will be a disaster for the U.S. and the world. Nothing good will come out of it and probably a lot of harm. He claims industries are suddenly going to move to the U.S. and create jobs and wealth. I don't think that is how things work. He is cutting off the supply of low cost goods that our countries have imported from other countries. This will make life more expensive and difficult for everyone. Free trade has been a wonderful benefit for the U.S. and other countries they trade with. What a shame this is being destroyed.

  27. Lol. You live in an echo chamber fantasy land. Trump inherited a strong Obama economy, enacted tax cuts (mostly for the wealthy), enacted tariffs and STILL performed worse on jobs than the economy he inherited. This bullshit about tariffs bringing jobs back to the US during Trump 1 is pure wishful thinking. Obama created 1.6 million more jobs than Trump over a three-year period "Trump’s boasts about how many jobs he has added don’t include that he has generated 6.5 million jobs under his Presidency vs. the 8.1 million, or 1.6 million fewer than Obama did under the same timeframe. On average Obama created 43,000 more jobs per month than Trump." ^^and that's before we even get to the COVID mismanagement. You don't have a clue.

  28. He’s been talking about it since the Eighties, took out ads on it and talked about it on TV, all as a private businessman. He also mentioned multiple countries back then apart from Japan. It appears in The Art of the Deal as well. So he has been carrying these ideas around for many decades. When he started with this preoccupation he had a more benign view of Canada. Obviously, now as president he has the chance to do it on a grand scale and make everybody come begging for mercy. It’s really one of his few fixed political beliefs in life. On most other things he has said whatever is expedient in the moment.

  31. He has publicly supported tariffs since the Eighties at the latest. Back then Japan was a major focus of his ire: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/trump-tariff-history-1.7469877 Here’s some info from several articles: ‘Three decades before President Trump’s trade agenda jolted the world, he laid out his vision in full-page newspaper advertisements foreshadowing what was to come,’ writes Jacob M. Schlesinger of The New York Times in ‘Trump Forged His Ideas on Trade in the 1980s—and Never Deviated.’ “Japan and other nations have been taking advantage of the United States” for years, wrote the New York real-estate developer, in the typewritten letter addressed “To The American People,” his signature affixed to the bottom.’ “ ‘Tax’ these wealthy nations, not America. End our huge deficits, reduce our taxes…” the September 1987 ads demanded.’ “Let’s not let our great country be laughed at anymore.” ‘Asked in a recent Wall Street Journal interview about the origin of his views on trade, Mr. Trump said, “I just hate to see our country taken advantage of. I would see cars, you know, pour in from Japan by the millions.” ‘In the interview, Mr. Trump called Japan “interchangeable with China, interchangeable with other countries. But it’s all the same thing.” ‘Shortly after the 1987 publication of Mr. Trump’s book, “The Art of the Deal,” he applied his world view in speeches and television interviews to a raging trade debate as Japan flooded the U.S. with inexpensive, high-quality autos and electronics.’ ‘He continued gaining attention, and the book became a best seller.’ 'He followed his newspaper ads—they ran in the New York Times, Washington Post and Boston Globe—and a brief flirtation with the 1988 presidential campaign with appearances on talk shows, telling hosts such as Larry King and Oprah Winfrey:’ “I do get tired of seeing the country ripped off.” He told Diane Sawyer in 1989 he would impose a 15% to 20% tariff on Japanese imports, adding: “I’m not afraid of a trade war.” ‘He complained specifically about the persistent trade deficit with Japan costing the U.S. money, as well as Japanese “import quotas and tariffs to protect their own interest,” as he put it in his 1990 book “Trump: Surviving at the Top.”

  37. The irony of importing twitter videos while claiming to "ignore the noise" is hard to miss. Meanwhile, that guy is a partisan hack and shameless liar, BTW. Is that why you're a fan? The US government does NOT control oil production. Oil companies produce as much oil as they think will be strategic and profitable. The Biden administration did not cut oil production--nor could they. Oil companies cut production because it was farking COVID times and people weren't driving nearly as much. Supply and demand. Nor did Biden solicit criminal immigrants with malicious intent. Nor is Musk discovering vast fraud. Rather he crows about "discovering" some crazy thing and it bounces around the conservative echo chamber for a day before someone who actually knows what they are doing explains how these systems actually work. If, if, if. If Trump can ride a unicorn into space it will be the most substantial presidency! He's living in a fantasy land as Trump strangles the life out of the economy and the liberty out of the citizenry.

  41. Trumps have discovered social engineering. Openness and acceptance of LGBTQ is regarded by them as social engineering, not a common value. Did liberals make a mistake on that one ? Objectively, how much does the government get to decide what is a 'common value' ? Or, furthermore, to interpret recognized value-words like 'Freedom' ? Freedom seems to mean you can buy a message and broadcast it whether or not it is true. Nobody would argue that. But it doesn't mean freedom of equal access to education or health. Postmodern Republicanism truly is a wonder to behold. It will lead back to a kind of 19th century pastoralism, I suspect. Maybe with a monarchy though.

  42. Yeah, whatever that's supposed to mean today. No one will recognize this country in 20 years. Immigration without assimilation is an invasion. Import the third world, become it. Diversity inevitably breeds conflict. The future of Canada is a low trust society, arranged child marriages, violent crime infested cities, regular Islamist attacks, Sharia law, and women in face coverings everywhere you look. Sure bodes well for the future rights, safety of women and girls, lgbt, and other vulnerable groups. Progressives will ultimately lose everything they've fought for.
