  1. That may be true, but we have to limit the number on immigrants until we catch up on housing units, schools, hospitals, and infrastructure that the new Canadians will need. Admitting 2.3 million people in Canada since January 2022 was just foolish. We need to cap the number of people coming into the country at 350,000 until we have the ability to support them.

  3. We need immigration that is true. We cannot maintain a positive population growth without it and declining population has it's own fairly serious issues. But i think the need is grossly overstated. Take medicine - we don't import enough doctors to treat the number of immigrants we're bringing in. So - immigraiton still puts a strain on our systems. we would be better off radically expanding our current training. As to other workforces - i think addressing most of those problems with immigration is a mistake. Immigration may bring in more workers but it also creates more work to be done - more housebuilders but more homes that need to be built - and the increase in need is actually not met by the increase in capacity to provide. What we need to do is force our industries to look at being much more efficient rather than relying on immigrant labour to get things done. More efficient and attractive training for medical staff in country, more efficient home building methods etc, more tools for office staff and gov't workers etc. I had to go to the hospital for a bit last year - they're still filling out medical charts with a pen. Then someone has to enter that. And forcing busiesss to do that makes people more productive, which makes people more valuable and creates higher gdp per person and that means more taxes from fewer people so better services all around. Sure -we should also be focused on bringing in qualified people and getting them certified as quickly as possible for certain. And for sure we need immigration. But we can't use immigration to solve our labour issues, we have to make our people more productive

  5. In New York State, we will get a ruling soon on the damages Donald Trump will pay in his civil fraud trial. He has already been found guilty; the ruling is only on the amount of damages. Throughout the case, Donald Trump repeatedly and continually insulted the judge. Yes, Donald Trump thinks that the one person who will rule on his damages is someone he should intimidate an insult. Damage estimates in this case range from $150 million to $750 million, along with the dissolution of all of Trump’s New York businesses, and a ban on Donald Trump and his children from operating businesses in the state of New York. If Donald Trump is indeed a billionaire, he certainly does not have $500 to $750 million in cash, and this ruling is very likely to lead him to liquidate half or more of his assets. And there is little he can do about it — of course he will file an appeal, but the law is the law. Trump has already laid out his arguments in court, and none have been compelling. This ruling, coming in about two weeks, is likely to bring an end to the Trump empire.

  7. It is impossible to screen individuals and determine whether they will be trouble-makers or have an extremist slant. The proof of that is: 1. The huge demonstrations these people start when they are established here. 2. Terrorist incidents which have occurred in Europe in places where large numbers of them have been allowed in. The government was not able to screen them and let in lots of extremists. That has happened in Canada too. Also, how they will behave cannot be predicted but the fact they belong to certain religions is an indication of possible trouble. That is the only clue.

  8. When Trump announced a ban on people from Muslim countries, I thought it was ridiculous, However, after 2 months of non-stop "demonstrations" and protests from Palestinian supporters, I no longer think it is a bad idea. Especially considering the dramatic rise in antisemitism, and the targeting of Jewish owned business by these people.

  9. Florida hadn’t finished counting all the votes. The Supreme Court, 5-4, ordered Florida to stop counting votes. Sandra Day O’Connor later admitted it was the Supreme Court casting their vote for President. And the result was a President who ignored the threat of bin Laden and then launched a terribly managed war against Iraq for non-existent WMD’s.

  10. C'mon. You don't need me to tell you why that's a poor argument. You can hardly expect anyone to even question FPTP if all you can bring to the table argument wise is "we'll i'm just sick of how we do it now'. That's not a good reason to change an electoral system.

  11. You haven't even offered a single practical way pr would be better or any of the problems we experience now would go away. It's not a problem of different planets, i'ts a problem of living in reality or a dream world. PR makes nothing better - it just reduces accountability and makes our gov't even more about fighting each other for poits and less about serving the nation.

  12. No, thousands of them demonstrated in Canada for the separate state of Khalistan. Thousands of them may be radicals. Demonstrating for things like that in Canada is bringing their trouble to our country. The assassination of the Sikh leader of the temple is all part of the same conflict. Bringing violence to Canada. Same with the immigrants now demonstrating in malls, blocking roads, and harassing people in support of Hamas. Shooting bullets into Jewish schools. We don't need these trouble makers in Canada.

  13. It did not seem that way after President Nixon asked Prime Minister Trudeau to begin opening up relations with China. The only time Canadians have ever fought China was as part of the United Nations Police Action in the Korean Peninsula. Not before or since. We basically had no relations with China after that until President Nixon changed American foriegn policy. He asked Prime Minister Trudeau to open the door because the Chinese people never forgot the contributions made by Dr. Bethune and had a relatively positive view of Canada. Foreign policy should be looking for allies, not making enemies. If you really want an enemy, look no further than Putin's Russia. He is our enemy. We don't need any more than that. If we become involved in a war, it will be with Russia or one of its vassal states. We have no reason to view China as an enemy. Another rule in foreign policy is there is no such thing as friends. We have allies. We do not have friends.

  15. That would be a true statement for the most part i think as far as why people are upset goes. . That is what upsets people the most - they dont have enough medicine and don't have somewhere to live and then they see a million people arrive and say 'how the hell am i going to find a home now".

  16. The leader of the Sikh temple was assassinated recently in Surrey, BC. Yesterday, shots were fired into the home of the Hindu temple leader's son in Surrey, B.C. We can guess where this is coming from. Canada should not be bringing immigrants to Canada that bring their struggles and conflicts to Canada. Extremists are among them.

  17. This was only a matter of time, with the looming housing crisis, and stress on the education, infrastructure, and health care. Not to mention many Canadians are being pushed out of the market, due to housing being not affordable. I am somewhat surprised that the numbers for BC are not higher. Quebec would finish lowest, since they are getting the lowest share of new Canadians (per-capita) Not surprising the Conservatives are more opposed to immigration, considering new Canadians tend to flock to large cities, and vote for the Liberals and NDP. These numbers will increase, only the immigrants become accustomed to life in this country. They are also more affected by increased immigration than traditional Canadians. When the full effect of the 2.3 million new Canadians that have arrived has been felt, the "Worse off" number is going to skyrocket.

  18. I basically agree with everything you said here, but to point out is that the entire political system needs to become smarter. We've been hearing about shortages and problems with health care for decades, and we've allowed our politicians to deny the problem.

  21. Are we suggesting that drawing cartoons of anything is worthy of one of the highest awards for a civilian, now i'm just reaching here but nobody in a scientific field that has made a significant contribution, or how about a police officer, fire fighter, for saving lives...Nope it was decided a cartoonist has contributed to the level deserving of this reward.... Kind of reminds me when Justin Bieber was awarded the Queens jubilee medal just for being Canadian, me along with thousands of service members were awarded theirs for being outstanding soldiers...i never did mount it or wear it on my uniform, they had taken the meaning or prestige away from the medal, and reduced it to a trinket that was given to anyone, for nothing...

  23. Supporting the economy of a country that is using that wealth to steal our IP and harm our companies, steal our state secrets, infiltrate our universities to steal our research, bully and intimidate our citizens and politicians, and corrupt our democracy is insane. The government should be putting up blocks to protect our national security, regular citizens like us shouldn't have to worry about these things when we head to the store and make buying decisions. Our politicians have sold out to China a long time ago.

  26. Be careful what you wish for. There was a time when I was destined to be your Prime Minister. The only thing that prevented me from achieving that goal was not enough votes. Canadians should bow down and give a prayer of thanks. We have a very good system now. The people who occupy the benches in Parliament across all parties, are mostly excellent people and they serve us well. They are a reflection of us, the voters, with all our virtues and our flaws. Life in Canada is far better than it was in my youth. One of my best friends in the mid-1950's had a grand mother who was an internationally renowned chemist. Her son, my friend's dad, did work on the Manhatten project. Yet, if they visited Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver or any number of places, there were restaurants, clubs and golf courses they were not allowed to enter because they were jewish and in the 1950's, many establishments in Canada were restricted. In the mid 1970's, the Faculty Association executive met to discuss expelling a student because he was gay. The only member of the executive who opposed expulsion was Professor Peter Millard, President of the Faculty association. Professor Millard said that if the student was forced to leave the University, so would he, "because I'm gay." Shocked silence ensued. The expulsion was dropped and Millard was recognized as a hero. We read many posts about how we are living in a dictatorship. The reason we can read so many of these posts is because we are not living in a dictatorship. Current interest rates and inflation are half of what was normal in the late 1970's. Yes, we have much more to do, but we need to pause for a moment and relfect on how wonderful life in Canada is. It doesn't matter what the party in power is, they do a pretty good job working towards making life even better. When Mr. Poilievre wins the 2025 election, he will say it is all the liberals fault, but he will continue to do what the liberals have done because that course of action has been proven over the decades to be the best practice. He may have a tenuous relationship with the truth but he is not stupid. Neither is Prime Minister Trudeau.

He is published in all newspapers and magazines all over the English speaking world. Political editorial cartoonists are satirists of all things political and just because he picked on your party does not make him ineligible for Order of Canada. He bashes everyone.

  29. The cartoon doesn't make much sense. Is it meant to be claiming truckers are fascists or is it meant to be claiming they are delivering fascism? But it certainly doesn't warrant an Order of Canada medal. The GG gives those medals out like popcorn out of a barrel of popcorn to everyone, but mostly liberals of course for being such good liberals.

  31. So does China. Manufacturing jobs, and they get to spy on Apple's factories in China and steal all of Apple's intellectual property and then sell the technology back to Americans at an undercut price (Hauwei, OnePlus etc). They do this with televisions too (TCL, Hisense) and every other type of IT tech. It must be nice to not have to pay any R&D in order to beat your competition. Go to any Chinese market/mall and you're going to find a ton of cheaply made counterfeit goods. Slap a different brand label on them and you have products/companies like Hauwei. This is how Chinese companies and the government do business. They're thieves. Don't get me started on India 😂 And if a US company doesn't like something, the Chinese gov will just bully/scare them into compliance, just like they treat their own citizens. #allies https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/nortel-collapse-linked-to-chinese-hackers-1.1260591 https://globalnews.ca/news/7275588/inside-the-chinese-military-attack-on-nortel/

  32. You're living under a rock. China has been destroying the relationship, not the other way around. I think we should take as much of our business out of China as we can, and hope every other democratic country does the same. The US needs to lead on that. I'm very willing to pay higher prices on goods to do it. I think it would be absolutely fantastic if the Chinese economy went into a significant tailspin for a very long time, and they'd have nobody to blame but themselves. Canada should also expel all Chinese government officials from the country until they clean up their act. All IT technology from Chinese companies should also be banned for sale in Canada immediately. I actually think we should take every measure possible to undermine China in any way we can, minus direct military conflict (unless they attack one of our key interests first). It is the new Cold War unfortunately and it's their fault because they're a bunch of a-holes, bullies, and thieves and none of it should be tolerated for a second longer.

  34. Just received the book this topic is about. Just starting it. I feel the carbon taxes imposed on me is definitely a Communist type oppression. Obviously Trudeau and the climate change alarmists don't respect individual beliefs and freedom. They are imposing their ideology and hammering us with increasing carbon taxes based on their beliefs. It is an assault on personal freedom. As far as they are concerned you are to suffer for the "greater good", which is pure Communist thinking. I have changed my thinking about the forced vaccinations too. I am starting to believe that was a form of Communist oppression of the masses. There was no serious warning about the danger of the vaccine. The fact is people did die as a result of taking the vaccine. Nobody has the right to impose that on the population by forms of coercion, such as making it mandatory in the federal government as a condition of employment. People in certain positions could have been given the option of wearing a mask instead of forcing them to be vaccinated. That would have provided some protection for the people around them. In the case of health care workers, that is a different issue because many health care workers are working in close proximity to vulnerable patients, whose rights must also be weighed. Older people, hospital patients, and immune-compromised patients require extraordinary protection. We are fed the ideology by the government through the media that government always knows what is best for us and government embraced the Marxist ideology that nobody has individual rights if they deem it is for the greater good. My younger son in his early fifties believes he is paralyzed by the Covid vaccine which was given to him a couple of years ago about one month before he suffered a massive stroke that paralyzed one leg and arm on one side of his body. Because he was under government care, he had no real choice and had to take the vaccine. I tend to believe the vaccine had something to do with it.

  35. Again, to quote from the article you cited: ”The Fed is seeking to weaken the economy just enough to bring inflation down without causing a recession.” The article reports that the Federal Reserve’s policies to slow our economy, in order to reduce inflation, and increase (yes, increase) unemployment, are working.

It's not clear whether you're telling us that you are incapable of understanding facts, or that you're incapable of distinguishing fact from opinion, or whether you simply believe that's facts aren't important, but whichever the case, it's not a good look.

  37. The House Jan. 6 committee has already laid out the case very clearly. No need to restate it all. Trump refused in September 2020 to state he would support a peaceful transfer of power if he lost. He told the proud boys to Stand By. There’s abundantly documented evidence that ALL of his advisors and his attorney general told him he lost and that there was no evidence of widespread fraud. He illegally pressured election officials to corruptly change the voting outcome. He illegally established “alternate electors,” including fraudulent certificates. He chose to rally on Jan 6 specifically. He had other protests and rally’s rescheduled to Jan 6. He conspired with those organizers to tell the Park Service there would be no march to the Capitol, and to say so on the permit applications. He called supporters to “Stop the Steal.” He sat for three hours watching the attacks on TV and doing nothing to stop it. He didn’t call any National Guard, Army or police units to deploy.

  40. The U.S. Attorney for Colorado can bring federal criminal charges against someone, but it's not like a wedding D.J. situation. They don't take requests. And they don't have authority over Colorado ballots. More to the point, that's simply not how constitutional matters are handled. And this is the point you just refuse to accept and understand. If you think the state is violating your right to free speech, you file a civil suit. If you think someone has discriminated against you you file a civil suit. If you think Obama was born in Kenya and is ineligible, you file a civil suit. And yes, if you think Trump had been rendered intelligible due to his actions on and after Jan 6, you file a civil suit. Hell, even if he had been found guilty of insurrection in a criminal case, you'd still need to file a civil suit to remove him from the ballot. There is no component in criminal law to take such action. It's a civil matter. That's why this process IS due process. It's THE process.
