He seems to be taking some responsibility at least for being mistaken. The real proof in that pudding would be if he started dialling back the interest rate hikes if all they're really accomplishing is to make things tougher than they need to be and banks rich.2 points

I won't speak to all Republicans, but you, personally, are a shameless liar. There is not a single argument of any kind in the OP. Just vile, unhinged, ugly, dehumanizing rhetoric. If you can quote even a semblance of an argument I'll retract my assessment, but it's a VERY short thread and I don't think there's any hidden gem among the OP's hate-fueled screed.1 point

December 15, 2022 Press Release WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman David N. Cicilline (RI-01), senior member of the House Committee on the Judiciary and former impeachment manager today was joined by 40 of colleagues in introducing legislation to bar former President Trump from holding federal office under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment. Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states, “No person shall … hold any office, civil or military, under the United States … who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States … to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.” “Donald Trump very clearly engaged in an insurrection on January 6, 2021 with the intention of overturning the lawful and fair results of the 2020 election. You don’t get to lead a government you tried to destroy,” said Congressman Cicilline. “Even Mitch McConnell admits that Trump bears responsibility, saying on the Senate floor that ‘[t]here's no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day.’ The 14th Amendment makes clear that based on his past behavior, Donald Trump is disqualified from ever holding federal office again and, under Section 5, Congress has the power to pass legislation to implement this prohibition.” The legislation details testimony and evidence demonstrating how Donald Trump engaged in insurrection against the United States. It specifically details how Donald Trump engaged in insurrection when he helped to plan and encouraged the insurgence on January 6th despite knowing that the election results were lawful; attempted to intimidate state and federal officials when they did not support his false claims and unlawful plans; tried to manipulate Mike Pence into unlawfully refusing to certify the election results, despite Mr. Pence’s and legal advisors’ assertion that he held no such authority; and supported the violent insurrection at the Capitol on January 6th, refusing for hours to denounce or act against the mob and putting thousands of lives in danger. Original cosponsors of the legislation include Representatives Earl Blumenauer; Jamaal Bowman; Tony Cardenas; Andre Carson; Sean Casten; Judy Chu; Yvette Clarke; Emanuel Cleaver, II; Gerald E. Connolly; Danny K. Davis; Mark DeSaulnier; Adriano Espaillat; Dwight Evans; Jimmy Gomez; Al Green; Sheila Jackson Lee; Pramila Jayapal; Henry C. “Hank” Johnson, Jr.; Mondaire Jones; Conor Lamb; Barbara Lee; Ted W. Nobody in this thread has expressed any legitimate concerns over anything, least of all the OP. The sole purpose and content of this thread is to dehumanize asylum seekers. Why you find the need to defend such vile rhetoric I can only guess.1 point
-
1. Fair enough. I have the OP on 'ignore' and so extreme depths of boredom will get me to engage with them. You're not on ignore and so a post between you and an ignore-a-moose is low priority but still above doing laundry. 2. Here's one: Hungarians. Open arms to them when they needed asylum in the 20th century. Hungary, though, closed its borders to Syrians/Afghans/Iranians. Even worse, US online news sites spread anti-Afghani propaganda about Afghans who were brought to the US after HELPING the US military with their war there. ----- Like I say oh dad oh, the best you can do with people who have 'lower' values (in quotes) than you is use the tools of shame and axiomatic symmetry to shame them, if they have any shame. Final turn of the card: they do not. Do not have shame.1 point

There's a "body of work" beyond the original post. But any way you slice it, dehumanization is the language of genocide. Once people are reclassified as animal, or somehow less than human, it gives some license to say or do anything to these individuals. And this language is never applied to those who showed up at Ellis island seeking asylum, but only to those who show up at the southern border.1 point

You may not approve of immigration or asylum policy, but these are desperate people, not animals. And frankly, I'd rather have most of them in the US than a disgusting, vile racist like yourself. Perhaps we can work out an exchange program.1 point

Lol some comeback. As usual you’re resorting to cheap generic insults when you’re shown the facts and have your ass handed to you. The fact is you know SFA about Ukraine or Russia and you’re just parroting what you’ve been told by Kremlin-backed outlets and other IG accounts know-nothings from your friends and family. You don’t even understand or have the base level of knowledge to examine the nonsense you’re repeating which is a unique trait of the MAGA set.1 point

So do we just bury our heads in the sand and let nature take it's course. and if we do what about all those values and morals we always talk about or is all that just bullshit. Russia in this case is the bully, and Ukraine is that little kid with the glass as thick as coke bottles. Do we just let Russia slap them around, becasue they did something to *iss off Russia, and if so why do we have organizations such as the UN, or have such a thing as inter national law, to help nations guide themselves in todays world. The entire country was created with the help of Russia, those Russian citizens that live there moved there of their own free will, and if they don't like it move back to the mother land, same goes with those Ukrainians that no longer want to be a part of Ukraine...pack your bags, the inter national borders have already be drawn, and excepted. Or we could revert back to the period in time where might makes right and go on a inter national rampage to increase our power and reach, by dominating those weaker than us. NATO is really just for show, most countries in NATO really does not have a sizeable military to even defend themselves let alone the entire continent of Europe. Some NATO nations are waking up, most will spend the bare minimum they can get away with, and some nations like Canada really just wanted the badge to wear, nothing more, they don't want to play by the rules just want to be part of the conversations. like one of those yapping little puppies.1 point

Nobody seem to mind when they spent almost 700 bil in the last 4 years, and 4 years ago we thought health care was one of the worlds best, turns out it's not even close. We use to pride ourselves on our health care, well it is broken like most things in Canada, sorry "justin" i know that is a line in the sand you won't cross... but it is far from fixed.1 point

I disagree. Twitter had plenty of free speech of all sorts, but they realized they’d been played in 2016, and they didn’t want it to happen again. Let’s distinguish some things: Conservative THOUGHT AND SPEECH has never been banned by Twitter. Not one iota. What they banned was dirt: Deliberate falsehoods and unverified claims, which exploded with regard to Covid. People were allowed to say that they didn’t want to get vaccinated, or wear masks.. and people did that every day. But making false or unproven claims about vaccine safety crossed the line. You could still say, “I do not want to take the vaccine because I don’t think it’s safe,” but not, “I know the vaccine is unsafe.” “I know the vaccine is unsafe” is not political speech, it is simply lying, unless you have actual evidence. But, frankly, the crazies still get a lot of latitude. Trump didn’t get banned for blatant TOS violations and it was only after trying to overthrow the government that he was justifiably banned.1 point
