Yes. A bad cold or the seasonal flu can be deadly when you're in you're 90's. But we don't run around in hysterics, shutting down society for them. And no one ever, breathlessly and terrified, called a cold or flu "deadly" before either. Stop the hysterics, lady.3 points

Comparison of Covid to smallpox is ridonkulous. Smallpox had a 30% mortality rate, for children under age 1 it was 40-50%. Covid has an infinitesimally larger IFR than the seasonal flu. I beg to differ on who the "drama queens" and extremists are these days.3 points

The small minority of unvaccinated are a convenient scapegoat for the government right now. People with zero critical thinking skills who blindly follow these leaders down paths of hatred where others are branded "the enemy" and segregated out for special punishment, resemble the citizenry of 1930-40's Germany. I am seeing more and more articles in the MSM that are addressing some of the other aspects to these nuanced problems. I think it's because the narrative for world leaders is falling apart and more and more people are seeing it. Except those who choose not to and continue to live in hate and with penchants for punishing their fellow citizens. FUREY: Here's what's really going on in Ontario hospitals | Toronto Sun I was wondering how long it would be before nurses started speaking up about what's really going on. Glad to see MSM finally picking up on what some of us have been aware of for almost a year now.3 points

there never was a crisis with covid and as the situation improves more restrictions are being imposed not less you're just wrong they are going to keep going with no regards to the actual situation3 points

No they’re all too similar to constitute real choice. All support restrictions and carbon taxes. All are oppressive. There’s no centre or right in Canadian politics. O’Toole would fit right in as a US Democrat.3 points

Thanks QOC. I can't believe that this isn't a bigger issue for Canadians. He pretends to be the epitome of tolerance but his ignorance and bigotry is over the top.2 points

The seasonal flu, which we have not been able to eradicate and has nearly the same IFR as covid, is endemic. There will never be a perfect time to drop restrictions. If you look hard enough, there will always be some reason that can be used to justify continued restrictions. Nothing is perfect. Life is not perfect. Life is meant to be lived and this is not living.2 points

I agree that your future outlook is more realistic rather than my sarcastic reply. However, I believe the people responsible, politicians, medical advisors, doctors and health officers, will operate in their best interest. Meaning the actions taken will be of self interest. If there is a hint of professional misconduct or failure to provide an adequate solution in a timely manner, a "fall guy" will be required. Thus saving the majority of people responsible positions, social status and private wealth. I would argue the more restrictions mandated, the safer the people responsible are, at least legally and socially, for now.2 points

What do we have here? Second-class citizenship? Trudeau blasts the unvaccinated, and there's suggestions that vaccines might be mandated..............and yet, if you are an essential worker - especially a part of the supply chain - you're not required to have a vaccine! Lol - see the farce in all of this!2 points

there is a damn good reason kindergarteners don't run the government even Klingons would run a better government go home, you're drunk2 points

If that's true, you should be doubly ashamed for calling Canada a totalitarian state.2 points

You've no clue what living under a totalitarian state is. You just look stupid when you say stuff like this.2 points

We are definitely not the same person and you have no effing idea what constitutes a totalitarian state. We have a multi party system where we can change a government at any time, a constitution and supreme court to oversee it and override any government that violates it.2 points

Yesterday there was over a million Covid cases in the US, that we know of. Each day the provinces test new record numbers of Covid cases and we hunker down waiting for the other shoe to fall: a rapid rise in admissions to the ICU’s. Only it hasn’t quite worked out that way. Hospitalizations have risen but the stays are shorter and almost everyone who gets Omicron, representing about 95% of Covid cases, recovers within a week. The ICU’s have lost some capacity but aren’t anywhere near full on average (Ontario with 1100 ICU beds has about 270 in use). The bigger issue causing us to “slow the spread” by putting students back online and adding restrictions is the fact that we’re testing so many people who we’d never know were positive without the tests, people who are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms. Stop testing these people and they’d be working. The health workers administering the useless tests could actually help highly symptomatic patients. The time is here to focus our health care on treating very sick people, and not just people sick from Covid. Let people live normal unmasked lives, seeing people, going out, travelling, and taking care of their many other needs. The vast majority of our vulnerable population is fully vaccinated and has access to boosters. Those who are more vulnerable can take extra precautions. Mask up if you want to. Many people have had Omicron and many more will get it. Eventually just about everyone will and the consequences for our young and vaccinated population are cold or flu-like. We’ll be fine. It’s time to declare Covid-19 endemic and end restrictions.1 point

That's right, and that's not the same as saying that "Hispanics are murderers", so you lied, right before you called Trump a shit-slinger. FYI doctors, engineers, lawyers and people with successful businesses don't swim across the Rio Grande with their children. Those are Mexico's 'best'. Well, their soccer players probably are.1 point

No, you have to do better than that. Just wishing does not cut it. You have to explain, intelligibly why and how 90%+ voluntary vs 99% mandatory quasi-mRNA-vaccination that does not prevent infection and transmission would make an essential factual difference for you sufficient enough to justify persecution of arbitrarily selected (unless proven otherwise) group of population.1 point

The fact remains that Sotomayor barfed up blatant stupidity at a level which is extremely alarming for anyone, let alone one of the key decision makers for an entire country. The OP stands undiminished and your drivel is exposed. Now you've abandoned your untenable position and started hurling sandbox insults, as is your wont. This debate has arrived at it's usual outcome. ❤️1 point

It takes exactly one minute to verify how far off any relation to the reality this is: "but about 3 out of every 10 people with the disease died" (CDC) "Same", right. This is the essence of propaganda versus an honest discussion: it is not interested in facts, logic, meaningful arguments. Only to drive its position on everybody, anybody at any cost.1 point

What is "unfortunate" here, an automatic, no consciousness needed jerk reflex in the leg on the first sound of "zwei drei" after months of incessant propaganda on all sensory channels? It's just as "unfortunate" as totally predictable, and moreover, plannable and expectable. Just ask Dr Goebbels, the expert.1 point

I like reading all the ridiculous scenarios invented by the godbothering industry. Take this resurrection rubbish. A guy lies in a tomb (or grave which ever one you want to believe)riddled with maggots, stands and walks them suddenly ascends into the clouds. The story defies all the laws of physics and gravity purely to emphasise that he was a god, which he wasn't. Up he goes, shedding maggots and arrives in heaven. Here I am dad. Good to see you son. You're not looking to good but I planned it that way. Then you want to argue the point that all this rubbish happened and expect rational human beings to believe it. Only religion could fabricate that rubbish.1 point
-
Oh the irony. You suggesting someone's mind is closed then want to end the discussion because you don't like facts and hearing dissent. How patronising of you. It's typical godbotherer jargon as if prayers have ever done anything. If you believe all the fairy tales in your silly bible, you are the one with self induced darkness or you are blind. If you did pray, how do you know your prayers are answered? Do you get an email or text? Now do you see how ridiculous you theory is? It's all religious bollocks. I suggest you do exclude yourself from any discussion about you imaginary ghost friend. You keep your toys and play with them at home. There's no room in earth for religious clap trap.1 point

It doesn’t matter. There is no choice. Freedom is evaporating. The international consensus has decided how we’re to live. Ford, Trudeau, et al are just tinkering at the edges. None of them are taking a stand against what’s underway. In fact they’re buying into and selling the same narrative. Our society is full-blown Orwellian. Until freedoms are restored I have no other way to see it.1 point

It is. Ideology has replaced pragmatism. A virus has no ideology.1 point

“It is quite obvious to me that you do not believe in rights and freedom and choice at all. Taxing someone in Canada for not being vaccinated is criminal and discrimination and a crime against humanity. It violates the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Canadian Constitution, the Nuremberg code, and the Canadian Human Rights Commissions charter of rights.” You are absolutely right on this. People haven’t figured out that restrictions are probably permanent. We allowed this to happen by taking our freedoms for granted. New excuses will emerge to impose restrictions. Wake up!1 point
-
Yes, because this supposed impersonal metadata is being used to say, “People left their homes and went to other places of residence on this weekend.” “Impose additional restrictions to this area because the locals aren’t following health directives.” In all sincerity. we are at tremendous risk of allowing unnecessary totalitarian violations of human freedom to continue. If you honestly think this is necessary to fight Omicron, I think you’re incredibly naive. These restrictions aren’t necessary to fight Omicron. They’re about imposing far reaching controls over your movements and behaviour. Your data has been submitted digitally and is required to access basic freedoms. You are not to congregate, see people beyond your immediate family, travel internationally, drive or do anything beyond what’s essential for your survival. That’s our reality. If you don’t see it after almost two years, universal vaccination mandates, masking, and other restrictions, we are in far greater trouble than we realize. Surveillance is just one piece of this puzzle.1 point

Indeed, could not be said better. And so it seems that Covid is a near-perfect distraction from the causes and state of the system due to these problems. So perfect in fact that it's difficult to not think that if it did not come about naturally, it could be created only for that one reason. But OK no evidence of that, I concede. And that of course, goes a long, long way to explaining the rationale for the vaccine drama spectacle that been playing for close to a year now. The moment drums and fanfares go silent, the questions will begin popping up again, and again and again. Not at all difficult to predict that, and guess why?1 point
-
Yeesh, Omicron is everywhere on both sides of the Can-US border. The only difference is that on the other side people are living relatively normal free lives. We aren’t and our hospitalization rate isn’t substantively different. Quebec, and Canada to a slightly lesser degree, aren’t functioning as laissez-faire liberal democracies anymore. Why? Covid? Spare us.1 point

Says Ontario wants to hire back the fired and quit unvaccinated health care workers: Ontario considered forcing hospitals to rehire unvaccinated staff due to surging case numbers Further on: The OHA warned the government not to interfere, saying such a policy could make the staffing crisis worse Crisis? What crisis? Oh, you mean the one that we self-created by implementing stupid management policies? That's just peachy, Mr. Health Minister. Mr. Chairman of the advisory... Dr. Health Advisor, Big Poppa Doc. How about a little infighting. You, me, no you, no me. Me. Better yet, here is my question to all ye Candians: Why do these people even still have jobs?1 point
-
Yes. The Americans have found it in states like Tennessee and Florida, as Peterson notes. Covid is a manufactured crisis at this point, resulting from diverting healthcare resources to obsolete pandemic measures like testing, tracing, and screening. We must end restrictions and focus on treating very sick people, whether or not they have Covid. Without testing and screening, far more people are eligible to work because people with mild cases or who are asymptomatic aren’t labeled positive and required to isolate, ending staff shortages. Having kids at school also allows people to work. The issue isn’t having or getting Covid, it’s seriousness of illness. Covid is inevitable. Most people will get it. It's endemic. Time to move on. The vulnerable can take extra precautions. Our ICU's aren't full, nor are our hospitals. We need to stop looking for Covid except where its symptoms appear in very sick people. We need to treat these people with the best available treatments. Health Canada needs to get on the job of using cutting edge monoclonal treatments and approving treatment pills (FDA already has). Our psychology must change from restrictions and masking and staying at home to avoid a common illness that is mild in most people. We must now return to normal life and live with Covid in our midst. Encourage people to get vaccinated, beef up critical care and ICU capacity, apply the best treatments, and ensure that all available protections are available to the vulnerable, including work from home. Beyond that, return to normal, unrestricted life. We have to get there as soon as possible.1 point

Yes, Jesus could very well have existed, why not? The reality of this whole story is a completely different matter. Each of us perceives only that information that passes our own filter. And if someone's filter does a great job of describing miracles, well, I can only rejoice. I lack the good old childlike spontaneity that would allow me to believe in everything that the Old Testament offers. Honestly, I enjoy listening to the stories and sermons of firstchurchlove.com parishioners on this topic. More precisely, I like people who believe in it. I really love listening to people who are so passionate about something that they can charge others with this power. And I don’t have to share their opinion, it’s just nice to look at a person who talks about something that is not close to you, and at the same time, he can still be pleasant.1 point

Please educate yourself. Healthcare has been chopped repeatedly for the last 20 years. A "huge amount of the provincial budget" allotted for healthcare goes to the CEO's, their salaries are astronomical, they get huge raises every year - all while they run the healthcare system into the ground. Why do you insist on punishing the citizens for this?1 point
