We can make a startling discovery here: that incompetent and expensive bureaucracies can look very similar (in the ultimate limit, indistinguishable?) regardless of what ideology banner they march under.3 points
-
This is communism at its essence: entitled bureaucrats raking public funds producing mediocre or plain disastrous results. And notice that the root cause is exactly the same, regardless of the ideological label: near-complete isolation and detachment from the reality and any responsibility for the result. And no, McCarthyism would not fix it. Only active, engaged and smart citizens could. Those for example who wouldn't just silently swallow "travel from Wuhan, no problem" but demand and obtain all necessary explanations because it's about them, their country and their future.2 points

The left in their march towards harmony want to drive a wedge between the Asian and Caucasian communities and create strife where there was none. That's what they do...racism.2 points

While I don't agree with the anti-vaxers and the anti-Covid crowd, I still believe Canadians have freedom of speech. This guy Chris Sky has just been put on the no-fly list for being an anti-vaxer, anti-Covid protestor/speaker for exercising his right to freedom speech. The government appears to be shutting him down and preventing him from travel so he cannot go to protest rallies and speak. This while a convicted terrorist, who killed someone when he was fighting for al Qaida in Afghanistan, received 10.5 million dollars and an apology, is not on the no fly list and is free to fly. This is Trudeau's Canada. Trudeau did express his admiration for the Chinese Communist system about six years ago. Are we fast becoming a Communist state? Could the pandemic and Trudeau government's response be the trigger that removes our fundamental freedoms and establishes Canada as a Communist dictatorship? Should there be a difference between the way a Communist dictatorship acts and the way a western democracy acts toward people who differ in their beliefs and speech about the pandemic and government response? https://www.rebelnews.com/chris_sky_lands_on_canadas_no_fly_list?utm_campaign=rr_04_09_2021&utm_medium=email&utm_source=therebel1 point

While i disagree about the communism point, i do think that government officials have become bloated at the trough, be it incompetency or just plain greed, and we as the citizens of this nation , are to tired to say or do anything... which is why we have so many in the wings ready to join , people like Gen Vance, the GG, all of the other GG's, and almost every MP or senator that has pocketed thousands of tax payers money... while we sleep next door thinking all of this is normal..1 point

Not just Pearl Harbor...but a string of victories all over the Pacific/Indian oceans. They just kept coming right up until Coral Sea/Midway.1 point

The threat was plenty real. Or do you not think the IJN and IJA were a match for the Canadian Army in 1942? They clearly beat us ONCE.1 point

News round about January 1942 was that the garrison of Hong Kong had been captured, sent on a death march and had yet to be heard from. That woke a few folks up alright.1 point

Some did their job. Balloon bomb wreckage was a constant threat in BC woods up until just recently. Even then....find one now? You touch it. You're again free to deny such things existed to suit your odd purposes.1 point

Another non-sequitur. You’re not making any sense. Are you saying that Japan was responsible for pearl habour? How dare you! Somebody might attack an Asian person because of that rhetoric! ?1 point

Somehow reminiscent of that time when thousands of ordinary chinese people were accused of shipping all the masks and other PPE from our stores to China. That wasn't very nice of them.1 point

I also shop, travel, go to social events, church, theatre etc. These are things I do by right. Or at least it feels that way. What you're talking about are privileges you apply for with the exception of taxes. But as mentioned before income tax was originally supposed to be temporary. Also Social Insurance cards were something you originally got if you wanted a pension or unemployment benefits. Restrictions and power of the permit gets added to. As mentioned Vaccine permits are currently only used by the private sector. Did you know they have an app now that will communicate with other phones to check on each others health and vaccine status? If you're within 6 feet of each other they can be having a conversation you're unaware of until they contact you to tell whether or not that person is OK to be that close to. It's just playtime right now but imagine if that gets hooked up to a public federal database. And speaking of a federal database. These would include private information. Who can hook into it? Theatres? Sporting events? Restaurants? Potential landlords? Creditors? Chi-Comms?1 point

When you consider what the Japanese did to the Chinese (estimates are that they massacred a minimum of 300,000 people, but if you include forced labour deaths it could be as many as 10M deaths on the high end), internment camps were a very pleasant alternative. German and Italian Canadians didn't suffer the same fate as Japanese Canadians did, but the Germans and Italians didn't just blow through Pearl Harbour with a free shot at the west coast either.1 point

Seems you don't understand what freedom of expression in the Charter of Rights means and you don't understand that governments don't get involved in using the full power, lawyers, and resources of government to shut down a citizen's freedom of speech because they don't like his views. Using the power of state to control speech or silence citizens is Marxist or Communist style of government.1 point

Yes, certain conservative people don't like Tam, so they have decided to claim she's transsexual, as if that matters in terms of her job. Maybe she is and maybe she isn't, but I could find no confirmation that she'd ever undergone sex change surgery. I bet its some rumour, repeated often enough to seem true among those who simply accept what they see in FB memes. Yeah, that school trustee needs to be gone instead of spreading misinformation and fomenting discrimination against LGBTQ. Then maybe girls wouldn't get beat up cause they're gay.1 point

There are other examples of the growing Communism or totalitarianism with a Marxist bent. One is the BC NDP minister, possibly the AG, in Victoria saying he (or the government?) are thinking of lifting the driver's licences of people who don't pay their Covid fines or refusing to renew their driver's licences. This would be arbitrary coercion as driver's licences have nothing to do with paying or not paying Covid fines. Another example is when a BC NDP minister said they would take a school trustee to the Human Rights Tribunal for making unacceptable comments against Dr. Teresa Tam. We also know this same school trustee is opposed to the SOGI (sexual orientation and gender identity) curriculum in the B.C. schools education curriculum. This penchant to silence speech they don't condone is a Marxist trait. It's the kind of thing that would happen in North Korea or China. We also are seeing in the present enquiry into the B.C. Casino money laundering that high law enforcement officials and government cabinet ministers seemed to ignore or refused to take action for years when there was credible evidence or signs that large scale money laundering was going on for years. This was with the previous BC Liberal government in power. Corruption and authoritarianism seems to not be limited to one party although left wing and liberal parties will obviously be worse. We also just saw in the television news last night in BC that charges for murder against serious criminals are being dismissed by the court because the RCMP broke some serious laws meant to protect citizens rights, possibly under section 490 of the criminal code. It seems that is was standard policy to ignore these laws when investigating crime. It is yet to be seen how many murderers will be set free.1 point

Blaming China for the virus, which we should do, doesn't mean a person is culpable for hate-crimes. Trump never told anyone to hate on asian-Americans or blame them for anything. He just told people to hate the CCP because of what they did.1 point

Yes, because acknowledging where a virus originated is just like internment camps. This is why nobody takes you people seriously anymore. You’re all bat shit crazy.1 point

If this Chris Sky truly did nothing wrong he should sue and I hope he does. Liberal government going authoritarian.1 point

I would take AZ today if I could. The benefits far outweigh the risks for me. I do understand why governments are concerned by VIPIT, a potentially fatal condition that seems to be caused by the vaccine, and would want to protect healthy young people from it. Any time I get in a car I’m taking on risk. Life is full of such decisions but we don’t consider most of them.1 point

The previous head of Ontario's vaccine task force was raking $20,000 monthly for his worthy efforts (see current vaccination rates). I wonder what the new ones will be getting for the novel postal code strategy making completely unpredictable mess seven months after the preparations started. At this time I have no idea when to expect general availability in my area with provincial and municipal information contradictory and unclear. Some pharmacies offer registration with no information on the type of vaccine or expected time, and "subject to availability". What is it? Is it how the third world looks like? P.S. Can't help wondering what state Canadian Forces are really in, in case of, Heavens forbid, unexpected global issues later this century.1 point

The CF is in sad shape, for the most part they have been staying at home, doing very little to no training some have received vaccines, those deployed... the majority has not, and if your looking for any global issue for the CF to respond to... like a near peer nation like maybe a 3 rd world nation, but someone like Russia "you've got to be joking right." Our military has been striped to the bone a long time ago, those Canadians troops in Ukraine are nothing more than speed bumps, equipped for a training mission not fighting.. Canada has the military it always wanted, bare bones, and nothing in the carboards.. having a military scares the shit out of a lot of Canadians because we have a long history of coup attempts, or generally dictating how the country is run...0 points
