Federal judge suspends Biden’s immigration executive order.2 points

Canada has the highest unemployment rate among the G7, a slow vaccine rollout, and a massive deficit. So, of course, it's time to increase immigration again! The government plans to bring over 400,000 this year, because, they say, they will help the recovery. Only there's no evidence of that. Furthermore, they're greatly lowering the requirements, which will bring in much less skilled workers, who, according to their own figures, perform much worse and rarely earn enough money to even be paying income taxes. “It makes no sense,” says University of Waterloo economist Mikal Skuterud, who specializes in Canadian immigration and the labour market. An immigrant himself, Skuterud is joining other economists in questioning why Ottawa has officially claimed its elevated targets are “crucial to Canada’s short-term recovery.” Even though Skuterud strongly advocates immigration, particularly for humanitarian reasons, he wonders why the Liberals this month drastically lowered the standards for the skills expected of those looking to become Canadian citizens through the country’s economic-class express-entry program. “As an economist who has studied Canadian immigration for more than two decades, I struggle to understand how increasing immigrant entries in the midst of an economic crisis with historically high and rising levels of joblessness will aid our short-term economic recovery,” he said. “It is unusual for countries to significantly increase immigration levels during recessions, for good reason.” “I continue to be baffled at how the ‘increased immigration is crucial for Canada’s economic survival’ narrative has taken hold of our policy discourse. I challenge anyone to find me an academic economist that studies Canadian immigration who believes this narrative,” Skuterud said. https://vancouversun.com/opinion/columnists/douglas-todd-economists-question-decision-to-boost-immigration-during-pandemic1 point

I am hearing horror stories about how RED states are working to suppress voter's rights with changes to mailing ballots, Absente ballots, voting times, and identification checks? Is there no federal rule that can be used to stop this sort of thing. Supreme Court? The Constitution? I know it is up to the states to determine voting rules but, is there nothing to stop obvious voter suppression? Just my concern for a healthy future!1 point

Yes indeed...they can use-up of our natural gas supplies. I can't see any chilly issues with that. Think they couldn't? Okay...lol.1 point

It's a conservative court which has shown almost zero interest in fair elections. It struck down laws which would limit how much corporations and the wealthy could donate, for example, which allowed wealthy individuals to simply buy up whole states. It shrugged and said gerrymandering wasn't its problem. It also has largely ignored voter suppression as long it's not too, too blatant. The Republicans will say "We're just protecting the election against phony voters." And if that happens to make it harder for poor people to vote, oh well. I mean, it's certainly still possible for them to vote. They just have to make the arrangements to get some kind of state ID card (the middle class already have lots of ID). And if they don't want to do that, so what? And if certain districts have fewer ballot boxes than others, and those happen to have a lot of minorities in them, well, waiting in line is a small price to pay for voting, right? Voter suppression doesn't stop people from voting, it just makes it a bit harder and more time-consuming. Which means, given human nature, that it will cause a certain number of people, mostly poorer, mostly minorities, to not bother. But hey, that's up to them. Or so says the court. As long as they still CAN vote, the court seems content. Of course, given how tight the vote is in battleground states, and that such people tend to vote Democrat, it doesn't take much of that to swing the election. But don't call it cheating! Nonsense! The Republicans aren't cheating with all this! Only the Democrats cheat! And they do it in such clever ways no one can prove it!1 point

They will become two parties and support each other. (Republicans and Patriot Party) If the Democrat's think that a Republican party split is good for them, they are mistaken. It is one way to gain more votes. Be careful of what lies in the woods as a nonthreat, it is a dangerous situation. Just my opinion!1 point

Facts aren’t hyperbole. Antifa’s been rioting for years. They rioted throughout the entire summer. People like you excused it. So you’re the last person they should be saying anything. Go back to insisting that drunk drivers should be allowed to walk home if they resist arrest.1 point

No, I'm not going to bother with a cite. That was already a couple of years ago. What good are cites in this context anyway? But what I recall from memory is that Trump was friends with Epstein for a time about 15-20 years ago. What I read was that Mr. Trump liked the ladies, but wasn't interested in the girls and that was one reason their friendship did not last. Epstein of course was charged with crimes. Screwing adult women is not a crime in America. Famous photo of Andrew with his arm around a young lady. I don't recall if she was under-aged, but probably. Clinton... well, he is what he is. Alleged sex maniac. Allegedly flew to Lolita island many times. From your link- So this distancing already occurred before Trump was president, and before Epstein was arrested in 2019. Good enough for me.1 point

I don't think it is a loaded question but a good question why decision makers in Ontario are making bad decisions likely causing harm and more deaths than needed. When one dose provides very close to two dose immunity as suggested by scientists then why give non-vital second dose and deprive others the vital first dose and deprive millions of slightest immunity? Look at their stupid timetable for vaccinating elderly Ontarians!!! 80+ year olds - starting third week of March 75+ year olds - staring April 1st 70+ year olds - starting May 1st 65+ year olds - starting June 1st 60+ year olds - starting July first They are doing worse than any other province. They have been saying that they were ready for mass vaccination for a long time attacking Federal government for slow rollout but they proved that they are much worse. With warm weather just around the corner the fed up young population will restart socializing and will pass the virus to elders. Some won't listen to incompetent decision makers or governors anymore. How many elderly would have to die till July till they realize their bad decision?1 point

Egyptians and Mayans observed the planets and made forecasts on flooding. They aligned their buildings to the stars. So I would say space history starts when human history does. Probably went back before that, we don't know what they knew back before about 5000 years ago. The same curiosity and ingenuity is what drove their interests back then as now. Mythology is a living force that still exists today. Only instead of saying "God is in the gaps" we now say "Dark Matter".1 point

The entire world was enjoying the peace bonds after WWII, but you forgot to mention Korea, where 8500 man force was raised out of the population and sent into battle. we also forget that almost 30,000 Canadians served in the US forces in Vietnam despite the anti war movement. Not every Canadians does not want a viable military, more like a 60 don't care / 40 say yes split, as for getting Canadians to join or serve, the recruiting process has recruits lined up 2 years in advance, during the Afghanistan conflict recruitment was up over 50 %, So there is still a healthy amount of Canadians that want to serve our nation, dispite what the other 60 % think... How can you say it would boost taxes, Justin has spent on average 10 to 15 billion over budget since elected, and recently spent close to 400 billion last year alone on what, well no one really knows do they. I guess we will have to wait to see how high our taxes will get right.... Australia just promised to spend 340 bil over the next 10 years on their Military, and taxes are not going up. Conscription, we have not had conscription since WWII, Canada does not need a huge military, but it does need one that is able to contribute to all of it's defensive pacts it has signed on to such as NATO, NORAD, 5 Eyes which is UK, US, AUS, NZ, Canada, plus be able to atleast be able to defend Canada in time of need, be it from a foreign power or mother nature, the last ICE storm on the east coast we had it took the entire Canadian army, some of the navy and Airforce, during the Winnipeg floods it took all of the army, 1/2 the navy and 1/2 the Airforce, to work one issue. Experts predict that if BC had a major quake it would quickly overwhelm the forces to the point it would be ineffective in many areas...But hey who cares we are cheap.... DND is losing capabilities every year, along with them, it losses all the expertise that goes with them, that takes years to regain... today it has come down to not being able to carry out all of it's assigned tasks at the same time, perhaps one or two, but far from all of them. Just to replace the fighters it is a 20 billion cost, the ship building program is well past 60 bil right now. and that does not get us new destroyers, or Subs, or replacement maritime aircraft, or new air to air re fuelers, or the VIP aircraft, and the army is a mess as well, no air defense capabilities, no SP arty, no to little heavy anti armor wpns systems, 20 battle tanks, no tracked Infantry fighting vehs " to keep up with the tanks" the list goes on and on...And the worse part about it the Media including CBC has reported to Canadians time after time after time that our military is on life support...the only ones that care are the comedians as the jokes keep getting better... Nuclear capabilities at one point we did have them, then everyone got liberalized and we sent them away. we would not need them with a moderate sized conventional force. Today the only nation able to stand on it's own is the US, and they can not do it all alone, if there is more than one theater of conflict. Hence why we have all of these defensive pacts we have signed on to. we are good at signing them, but we suck living up to the terms of them, see NATO, when justin first got elected he and his liberals signed onto the new rules which stated a lot of new conditions one of them being each nation would spend up to 2 % of their GDP on their military forces, this was to counter Russia's build up and new aggression, today Justin and his marry band changed the rules on what counts as a military expenditure and even through cheating we can only mange a little more than 1.2 % next we signed on to the 5 eyes pact, the UK, US,Aus,NZ, and Canada, to counter Chinese aggression in the pacific, it has conditions as well, but we don't even have any air or ground units in the pacific, and barely any naval forces, our contribution is a couple of ships for an exercise once a year.. Why even embarrass ourselves if we are not going to commit any treasure to these causes, but for some reason we don't care how embarrassing it gets, or how cheap we look it is the Canadian way... Smile boys they're taking pictures again, never seen museum pieces in working order. From a Soldiers point of view, is they see the majority of Canadians are hot bags of wind, they have no problem with getting behind what ever government that is in charge to send us into harms way, be it peace making or peace keeping... but don't dare to ask for equipment that could save lives... When we used to ask for new equipment the government and Canadians would wait until enough soldiers had died on the battle field before taking action, thats right when enough soldiers had traveled the highway of hero's in metal coffins , they would consider our requests not until .... and thenthese purchases were not for the entire Army, but rather limited to Afghanistan operations needs only, plus a few training examples to train on in Canada. Afghanistan conflict had turned from a Canadian commitment , to one strictly supported by DND , to the soldiers it became our war, one that we could not count on our nations citizens to have our backs in our time of need. one that was a moral busting, to see all those planes being loaded up with bother and sisters in arms flagged drapped coffins.... We even stopped watching the news from Canada because it had become so poisoned, again'st the mission that had been dropped in our laps by our nation only to have them give us the finger when it came to support.... Even the government screwed us , every dime that was spent in Afghanistan came out of DND budget, and to pay for those costs came at the expense of training and equipment in Canada... those costs included diplomatic expenses, provincial reconstruction costs, all the federal government dog and pony shows "photo ops" and trust me every MP had their turn over there, any thing to do with Afghanistan was out of DND budget...and no special budget increase by the feds, if DND ran into the red it came out of next years budget... Things are not getting better, they are getting worse. Sorry for the rant....1 point

I still don't know a single person who's had covid, let alone died. But I know of two younger people who committed suicide, in part due to covid taking them over the brink.1 point
-
500k is the total number of people in the US who have died of covid up until now, but it is not the number of excess deaths. Here you can peruse the CDC data on excess deaths. I already posted it before. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/excess_deaths.htm That is because they don't tend to die as much as old people, who always must and will eventually die. So even a relatively small increase in excess deaths in that demographic produce a big "percentage increase". For those who are very advanced in age, there is no percent increase at all. The death rate is already at 100%.1 point

-
None of them, eh? Not a one would die... ever. No, the point is deaths are normal, everyday occurrences. Everyone you know, and don't know, will get in line to meet the reaper. Therefore it is only excess deaths that have any real meaning, in the context of covid-19. And there are some, for sure. If you really want to compare, show me a previous year where we counted the dead and tested them for viral infections. There is no comparison to what we've just done. But ohh, look how many people have died in the past year! My oh my. ... You are next.1 point

The Russians are more than capable of seizing whatever Arctic territory they decide to, much as they have done in the South China Sea. We don't even have the means to travel to the territory we have declared our own, much less defend it, while Russia has multiple powerful icebreakers and multiple military bases in their far north. Not to mention nuclear subs which can travel beneath the ice. China doesn't need to invade with soldiers. It can simply buy the people in charge here, both corporate and political, and tell them what it wants done.1 point

Yesterday a representative of the union of public workers was on air defending possible inefficiencies in procuring large amounts of IT products when public service started working from home in the early period of the epidemics. Sure, a heroic achievement and millions of (taxpayer) dollars successfully consumed. Done. Cheers. High five! Only one minor problem, forgot about the palm oil, the buttergeit. Otherwise all is moving fine and smoothly and management bonuses are coming in as usual. It knows very well how to take care of itself, even buying ahead huge stocks of outdated iPhones for itself at a trifle "saving" to the taxpayer. And everything else, as usual. A huge bureaucratic system that runs itself, takes care of itself and modernizes itself. How could it go wrong?1 point

That is Canada's choice...and so are the consequences. Canada's government freaked out when President Trump called them and other NATO deadbeats on this game. China is happy to have Canada as a compliant state as well. Those terms didn't come out of Washington....came out of Canada and like minded nations in Europe. Canada also invented terms like "honest broker", "seat at the table", "responsibility to protect", "peacekeeping", "middle power", etc.1 point

State owned enterprises even in China are estimated to be 30 - 40% government control, on top of all land ownership (90+% of land is Crown owned in Canada). American private interests / capital have far greater ownership and impact on Canada than anything China has done. If you want to make a distinction between government and private ownership, one can have that discussion (i.e. state owned Crown Corporations in Canada), but plenty of American and Canadian corporations own foreign enterprises in many sectors, not just manufacturing. Example: Canadian firms are major players around the world for mining. Cirrus Aircraft (based in my state) sought additional capital from several domestic and foreign sources before the Chinese acquisition (e.g. Bahrain) to remain solvent. GM has 50% ownership of SAIC (Shanghai) and now manufactures more vehicles in China than in North America. Boeing has been in China for more than 40 years, delivering more than 2000 airliners to the Chinese market. 20% of Apple revenue comes from China. China is not going away and competition is not going away either. Canada has been coming up short in this area for several reasons regardless of China, and continued over-dependence on raw materials exports, commodities, U.S. market/capital investment, etc. will leave it more vulnerable to foreign owned policies and actions in the future. Just add China to the list until Canada (or USA) decide to do things differently.1 point

All Canadians do not think the same way. There are many varied opinions. I think God and the Bible is central. God created everything and made science what it is. He gave man knowledge. What you do with it or don't is up to you and anyone else. We don't live in a Communist system where only one line of thinking is permitted. Isn't that what democracy and freedom of speech is all about.1 point
