  1. Biden's campaign is hiding him. He won't do speeches for anymore than a few minutes. They want to have Sunday's debate cancelled, and they're not having him take questions from the media. His latest gaffe was calling a union member full of shit. I can only imagine if Trump had done that.

  5. There's zero evidence immigration is good for anyone but the immigrants. Well, and the immigration industry which profits off them. The federal govenrment hasn't done any sort of study on the results of immigration in forty years. It does not show the slightest interest in whether immigrants are helping the economy or not, in whether the influx is good for society or not. It has no goals for immigration, and so it cannot measure the success or failure. It simply does not care. Given I've worked in government, that is more than sufficient evidence that immigration serves a political purpose and no other.

  6. Trudeau now in quarantine, same as before. No difference.

  7. I didn't do that, I put forward the reality that science says our economy is unsustainable. Yes the Church of Economic Alarmism has been screaming about the end of our world for decades too. I know full well what you're saying I'm not denying that reality or the reality that the economy will be also be lost if we continue with business as usual. I also fully realize that impoverished people make lousy stewards of the environment because they simply can't afford to be responsible It's a vicious double spiral. The alarmism all points in the same direction but at the end of the day the fundamental reality is that natural ecosystems can exist all on their own just fine without a human economy anywhere in sight. You can't have it both ways though. Human economies simply cannot exist without a functioning productive ecosystem around it. Not unless you move to some fictional Soylent Green sort of socioeconomic model. There are two very clear realities here and I'm not denying either one at all. Are you?

  8. At least you can assert that they have values, behaviours and undertake actions that warrant a reaction. You can't generalize so easily based on skin colour, eye colour or religion. I personally like reasonable people above all, whether religious, political or whatnot. They will hopefully ascend again in this crisis.

  9. Yah it does. A small part of a larger thing is just what some call humility . Egos man. They make some people very driven and successful and others delusional based on the same words they suck out of a religious book or work. I get why people are fed up with fundamentalist rigid religions I truly do starting with me but I also think we get as fundamental and rigid in our opposition to fundamentalism and extremism. It is what it is. Extremism can incite extreme reaction. which is what many extremists of course want- polarized conflict. Knowing when to ignore a target or having to take it out aint a decision that comes lightly.

  10. The above idea was not and is not an aboriginal concept. It comes from people like you projecting it on aboriginals.
    1 point
  11. There is an actual difference. Aboriginals do not ethnically cleanse people who do not look like them. Not that you noticed by aboriginals do not "look like each other". They are a mix of many mixes. If they wanted to define access to land by looks they would have had far more many wars than we people who came after them before we got here. You also need to see why and when aboriginals pushed back to demand access to land. It wasn't until their access was restricted in the first place. Then they pushed back. No we can not go backwards and undo history but we need to stop misstating history as if they started the displacement process. They did not. They only reacted to being displaced. They did not institute any displacement of non aboriginals until we pushed them off land. You push something it pushes back. The misstating of history does not resolve it..it only further complicates it.

  12. Don’t put fiction about how green we can make our economy ahead of jobs and lives. The economy and society we have could be lost, and what we get instead could be much worse.

    1 point
  15. Yes I know that and what it means is that we have to dial back the economy stop growing it and learn to live on less because the un-green energy options are completely unsustainable. The science says we need 3 or 4 more Earth's so everyone can live the way we do. That is still the goal right? No kidding, science has been ringing alarm bells for decades and when the world isn't oblivious it's rolling it's eyes and laughing out loud. Not when we're trying to eat our cake too. Carrying on business as usual will be worse for everyone.

  16. The Brits have really done well in this crisis. BoJo will pick up an unfair proportion of the Brownie points for a well organized national effort but he does have the knack of speaking in a frank yet upbeat and not too partisan fashion that deserves credit - it’s the tone to strike, unlike Trump’s gloomy, xenophobic and hostile foolishness today. This is one time for big spending and I’m surprised JT isn’t going way bigger. I wish Jane Philpott could be brought back as some sort of COVID czar to run this show, despite the recent unpleasantness. She has all the skills for such a challenge. Tony Clement would be a good guy to tap too in some way, as poor old Freeland has enough things on her plate. Clamping down on community transmission in the first few weeks is vital to avoid a plague and that’s where policy is vital. If things go truly pear-shaped, how many ventilators do we have in our vaunted national stockpile and what is their condition? I’m not sure I’d like to be put on one. Scheduled surgery will have to be cancelled, plus cancer surgery which will be more controversial. A lot of patients will have to be sent back to their nuclear or sub-nuclear families, ready or not. We could end up in an African Ebola situation where ‘self-care at home’ is the default model for COVID pneumonia and neighbours just leave food outside the sick person’s hut until it stops being eaten. I have great neighbours so that’s some comfort - if you’ve been to Newfoundland you know what I mean, best people in the world. However, Canada’s geezers could really get culled here. My concern for them has skyrocketed since entering that demographic. When the dust settles, the global community is going to have to initiate a wee chat with the lads in China about these pandemics and the cost involved. It’s getting to be a habit.

  17. Well that was a low energy speech, and poorly read too, that did not make much sense. To say the US is the best prepared country to deal with this problem runs into a few problems with facts, e.g. the testing fiasco, and nobody needs to hear about a great economy when an epidemic is sweeping the nation. Why ban travelers from ‘Europe’ but exempt the UK and Ireland? The tone was tired, grumpy and defensive - real old man stuff.

  20. It was Joe Biden who directly supported the 1994 Crime Bill that led to hundreds of thousands of "black people" (and others) being imprisoned for long terms, and welfare reform to stop "black" welfare queens, not Trump, who had never held public office.

  21. Oh sure....we know Trump...since the late 1970's...better known than even the Clintons. A real estate huckster and carnival barker from Queens NY. His biggest talent has been to entertain us....all these years. Knows media magic better than even Reagan did.

  23. Not willing to discuss here. Off topic. The Coronavirus reinforces the notion that nations should become more self-sufficient, especially to cope with emergencies. Trump et al are using it to further their MAGA/ anti-globalism message. Not just them however. China is also helping: Sen. Marco Rubio on breaking US dependence on China for medical supplies Canada must do likewise.

  25. During the black plague, European villagers blamed the plague on the Jews. Rumours were spread that sinister long-nosed Jews were seen poisoning village wells, late at night. This fear and suspicion probably arose from the fact that the plague did not seem to affect the Jews as much as it did everyone else. This in turn was likely due to their culture, which advocated a higher level of cleanliness and hygiene compared to Europeans. See how that logic works?

  26. Just think. We get to have this pro feminist incompetent loser who likes to wear funny looking colorful socks for another four more years. What more can Canadians ask for, eh? Those Americans who voted for Trump really did make a big mistake by voting for Trump. Chuckle-chuckle.

  27. The population of Vancouver is now approx. 45% non-white. The city of Richmond, BC is just about gone. The majority of the population in Richmond is now at approx. 65% Asian. Driving thru Richmond, one would think that they are driving thru some Asian city in China. The non British/European population of BC is now at approx 30%.and going up every year. If this is supposed to be what multiculturalism and diversity is all about, boy, the British/European people of Canada are in big time trouble ahead. They better start to wake up soon or else they will wake up one day and will probably ask themselves, where did the Canada I grew up in go. Some will call what I said here racism, but I would prefer to call it an instinct to survive as a people. The old Canada cannot be expected to survive if we the British/European people just sit back and watch it disappear right before their very eyes. With millions more new immigrants coming from foreign countries we as a people will die off. It's getting down to a do or die situation now. Believe it or not.

  28. Good riddance....I am not normally in favour of cursing ordinary people but the fewer Mullahs and their apparatus are alive the more Iranians will prosper. This regime has no mercy for Iranian people. Whilst Iranians are suffering they are supplying aid to Iraqis. Not that there's anything wrong with this but they have completely got their priority wrong. I have not shy away from expressing my opinion on this forum and being critical of the policies of Netanyahu. But Kudos to him and I respect his decision to quarantine people who come to visit Israel for 14 days. It shows that he cares about his people....

  29. From the strategic viewpoint there's a matrix law that defines the correlation of Interest and Power. In Iran this Matrix is eschwed towards high power and low interest level...This is why when you give too much power to an ayatollahs instead of think tanks dictatorship will ensue. That's what is screwing the country with the Coronavirus spread when the power and fate of Iranians are in the hand of one Ayatollah currently in hiding to avoid catching the virus....That said the medical team and staff are doing a sterling job to save lives despite medical sanctions imposed by the US on one hand and having to deal with backward ayatollahs on the other....

  30. What a shit show in Iran. I can't believe how much they've gone through in just the past year. The corruption and incompetence of the Iranian government is what will end them. Not the sanctions and economic pressure. Perhaps this virus will bring the majority to the boiling point.

  31. Biden hasn't faced any adversity yet in this campaign cycle. He's going to fold like a cheap tent when he has to answer for all of Hunter's ill-gotten gains. Dems couldn't touch on the topic of Hunter because if they go after Joe on that topic, they're acknowledging Trump was right when he sought to get an investigation started. Trump can talk about Hunetr all day. Hunter Biden's millions in gifted job appointments/business deals will sink Joe's battleship, if he even makes it to the fall. He's clearly losing his marbles.

  33. I don't "support" Warren in any way, but she had her one shining moment when she destroyed Mike Bloomberg on national television. For all of his billions and New York "experience", he was reduced to political rubble in about 5 minutes. Warren use to be a Republican, same as Bloomberg.

  36. I like some Christians. Some of my best friends have been Christian. I just do not understand what it is they have this need to play golf all the time or out mayonaise on everything or by Buicks. Also I do not understand why they thought Bob Hope or Bob Newhart or anyone with the name Bob was or is funny. Other then that they are usually o.k. unless they insist on boiling meat. Then I have to draw the line. Unless its a steamie from Montreal, you can not do that.
