No...any objective view of the witness testimony would find both credible if not compelling. What has failed miserably is the confirmation process itself, for partisan political reasons. As for him being a "frat boy", I went to college/university in same Maryland area in the 1970's, and the official circumstances for "parties" were just as Kavanaugh described. There were many all male or female schools that purposely held what were called "mixers", which invited students from surrounding schools. Women (or men) would be transported by bus to these events, ostensibly to teach social skills ! My favourite "parties" were sponsored by Notre Dame of Maryland University (all female undergraduates at the time).3 points

I imagine there are a plethora of men and women who look back on their younger years with some if not a lot of regret for their actions. That it should define who they are now is specious at best. How they have lived their lives since that time is what should count - not unsupported allegations from over three decades ago that had they been properly reported at the time may very well have been found to be without merit.2 points

and fart IMO Sen. Feinstein needs to step down, had she acted in good faith this wouldn't have happened, it would've been handled quietly; but she deliberately withheld information in order to stall a vote until after mid terms using both Ford and Kavanaugh as pawns in her political games. That was evil. Both sides lost, and the Democrats really did screw America, everyone.2 points

Disgusting that the Democrats sat on Ford's complaint for two months and sprung it at the last moment - instead of bringing it to the committee for investigation and validation - or not. I watched the Blaisey Ford hearing and found her to be credible - but very meek - almost frail. Anyone with any connection to the supposed event have been unable to corroborate her testimony. It would appear that SOMETHING happened to this woman but it appears it had nothing to do with Kavanaugh - whose own testimony was also very credible. Overlaying this whole process was the stink of Democratic malice - from their holding the accusations till the last minute to their phony calls for an FBI investigation to their total ignoring the fact that nothing has been corroborated. American politics has sunk even lower.2 points

Yes....the committee is controlled by the majority party (Republicans) who can proceed with a vote to recommend for the full Senate next week. But that won't happen until those needed senator votes are sure to be on side. It's all about optics now for vulnerable senators in mid-term races....lots of pressure.2 points

1) Is this a political hit-job or a legitimate issue? 2) Rank the hypocrisy level of the left-wing media, the Democrats and the Hollywood elites on a scale from 1-100. (CNN and the Dems didn’t care about Clinton’s rapes or sexual harassment, although the allegations were more specific, had more credible evidence, and in some cases resulted in civil settlements. What’s more is that the Dems ruthlessly slandered Bill’s accusers but now they’re saying that “all victims need to be believed”. The Hollywood elites pretend to care about this victim, but they gave Roman Polanski an Oscar and a huge round of applause after he fled the country to escape justice after he raped a child that was incapacitated from the quaaloods that Polanski gave them). 3) Is it possible for someone to be a victim of a “harrowing event” like an attempted rape, and yet the victim and witnesses can not remember specific things like the time, location and date? 4) Is it totally bogus that they’re demanding that Ford won’t testify until the FBI investigates the story, despite the fact that rape cases by civilians are out of their jurisdiction, and the statute of limitations has expired? They’re also trying to get the defendant to testify first, which goes against a defendant’s right to a proper chance for their own defence....1 point

No problem. As per our agreement, I will message you the name of a user of my choice to ban for one week....1 point

Of course they wont like the timeline. It's always been about time. The problem with giving it to the FBI is losing control of the timeline. They asked for an investigation, they were always going to push off any time limit.1 point

Not so much for the House, where local politics means more than in the Senate. Ford's attorney has already started playing games with timeline and scope. The Democrats have no power, except to keep trying to force a delay....they really don't want a vote at all, preferring that Kavanaugh withdraw his nomination. Continued fun and games will give any GOP holdouts sufficient cover to proceed in support of their caucus.1 point

Why would his reaction be any different from anyone who's been abused, screwed and raped? He's going through hell! Some Democrats had even started calling him EVIL - even before they heard both testimonies! His right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty has been blatantly TRAMPLED by these people! He's been gang-raped by the Democrats! Publicly! Symbolically! He is in a fight of his life - fighting for his family, his name, his reputation, his career, his legacy........and you expect him to be devoid of any emotions? Where are you getting that for a fact??? How do you know he has little accurate recollection? I don't think he was trying to garner any sympathy. He was expressing his anger and outrage.....which is only normal. I disagree. Every woman has a father.....a husband.....a son......a brother......a friend. I don't know what the outcome will be at this voting.1 point

Not long ago, the direction US politics has gone just seemed very sad. Now it just seems pathetic.1 point

Alleged behavior - let's get that straight. Three of the four people who Dr Ford said were there, do not support her testimony. From all apparent testimony, letters of support from both men and women, Judge Kavanaugh has led an exemplary life as an adult. To have these unsupported allegations brought up now is nothing more than a sickening effort by the Dems to stall the nomination hearings. Feinstien should be removed immediately.1 point

I thought he did need to come out swinging but maybe should've cooled it later on. It was riveting actually especially for a Senate hearing... but I think Senator Graham said it all, what a bad ass... https://youtu.be/hfd9hHOx6Vo Sen. Hatch got to the point. Not a single Democrat including Sen. Feinstein asked about a single allegation the entire time she had the letter and did not alert the FBI about it which gives credence to the feeling there really was an organized scam. Considering that this is the US Senate, on the scale of drunken actions against women, can the Democrats actually tell us where driving a woman into a lake and leaving her to drown, and then telling nobody, rates - top ten or no? I'm not clear on why the fixation on the FBI who have allready investigated him 6 ways to Sunday, and why he didn't give a clear answer. I think he had to avoid asking for an FBI investigation as that would give the Democrats the delay they wanted.1 point

The rush to process is what this is about - and from both sides. There is not one person with an IQ over 70 who doesn't know that this is about the midterms. Yes, there is a time limit. The republicans have to get this through and the Dems are trying to stall. Please don't pretend that the Repubs are afraid of anything being "found out", or that the Dems are fighting for truth and justice - it's so naive. The right knows this is a just a hit job and the dems don't care about the accusers - plain and simple. Midterms! Midterms! Midterms!1 point

Union membership was declining in the U.S. before RTW legislation, except for government employment, for economic reasons. Political pressure was brought to bear against unions because they choose to spend member's dues on partisan issues, forcing union members to support views with which they disagreed.1 point

It's like modern-day inquisition! All you need is an accuser or allegations that you might've committed some "sexual misconduct".....and you get pilloried, and your reputation gets shredded! You could also lose your job! You're automatically guilty! And if you defend yourself by saying, "I didn't do it..." they say that's just "talking point!" If you're innocent.......what else are you supposed to say??? I'm curious to know how it will be like......when the pendulum swings to the other extreme.1 point

Still no evidence or corroboration of anything and yet people are willing to destroy a man's life with no evidence of anything. Dianne Feinstein didn’t want Bill Clinton impeached over allegations supported by DNA evidence but she does however, want Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation vote delayed over an unsupported allegation and stays silent on Keith Ellison’s documented abuse. Politically motivated hack at the least. Now Ford's high priced lawyers want a small room and limited media... it just goes on and on... what the FBI should investigate is who is paying for these high priced lawyers. Sen. Grassley needs to schedule the confirmation vote as they are being played. It looks as if Dr. Ford will be a no-show unless she gets to choreograph the event for partisan advantage.1 point

Why is sexual assault the only crime where people decide for themselves whether it happened based on absolutely nothing but whether they would prefer if it didn't happen?1 point

Largely agree... 1. The Dems are terrified that Roe v. Wade could be overturned. (Even with Kavanaugh, doubt it... ) 2. The Dems are aware that the Repubs delayed Obama's nomination. The Dems are using tactics to delay this with the hope that they gain control of the Senate. Or force Trump to nominate a better candidate. ====== Truth of the allegations? For some women in their 50s, Roe v. Wade is such an issue that they would lie/fabulate to defend it.1 point

C'mon, Ford's handlers have lost faith in her, now they've been prepping the new one for at least 6 days, she might testify - at some point. There will be a reason to have Ford NOT testify...with questions. My guess is they submit a written complaint from Ford and go all-in on the new one. The last thing they need is for Ford to pull a "I just want an apology" and run out of the room like what happened with Trumps all-star accuser1 point

If anyone buys into this I can sell you some swampland in Florida. One person actually is calling for an FBI Investigation of Senate Democrats into their efforts to find women who would accuse Kavanaugh. What was promised and why is the natiion’s highest lawmaking body show complete disregard for the rights of the accused? It seems that the Democrats have become so unhinged that they believe the ends justifies the means (their means) https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/23/us/politics/brett-kavanaugh-christine-blasey-ford-testify.html The Times had interviewed several dozen people over the past week in an attempt to corroborate her story, and could find no one with firsthand knowledge. Ms. Ramirez herself contacted former Yale classmates asking if they recalled the incident and told some of them that she could not be certain Mr. Kavanaugh was the one who exposed himself.1 point

Even Stormy Daniel's lawyer is coming to the rescue of Ford! https://www.businessinsider.com/michael-avenatti-brett-kavanaugh-2018-9 Ford's claim sorta contradicts Avenatti's, doesn't it? According to Ford, Judge and Kavanaugh were already drunk when they got to the party. No mention of them bringing the booze. There was also no mention of drugs. She also said, Judge was at some point telling Kavanaugh to stop - and actually distracted Kavanaugh when he rough-housed with him - giving an opportunity for Ford to lock herself in the bathroom. The two got distracted and went away - two boys who are drunk, and unfocused. The incident doesn't fit the description of a would-be gang-rape. Judge doesn't fit the characterization of Avenatti, as being into gang rapes.1 point

Now that they see Ford isn't effective to sink down Kavanaugh - they've brought out another one! The Six Days Of Deborah Ramirez https://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/six-days-of-deborah-ramirez-kavanaugh/ Lol. This one's even really drunk! I feel so sorry for Kavanaugh, and his family.1 point

Prof. Ford needs the extra time to get her story straight and receive lots of coaching from the Democrats. Expect lots of tears and shock...even though she said nothing about the alleged assault before. Republicans may work in a few jabs at Keith Ellison since he is deputy DNC chair. ...then Kavanaugh will still get out of committee for a full Senate vote anyway.1 point

Exactly how can she now testify under oath about this when all her named witnesses have denied any knowledge of the allegation?1 point

Well, I put this in a status update but believe it should be here also... Someone from the Committee has said that they have contacted five people alleged to be at party. 4 deny any knowledge of the party and allegations – Dr. Ford is the fifth person and the only one who has not provided them with a statement Christine Ford has named her "lifelong friend" Leland Ingham Keyser who has no recollection of it https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/22/politics/kavanaugh-ford-accuser-nomination/index.html1 point

I believe it's a political agenda, one which IMO she didn't think would end up at Senate Hearings... The democrats sat on this for three months, so if they were serious about it, they should’ve told about it right away. . Sitting on an allegation of sexual assault for maximum political impact is an “extreme abuse of power . Chairman Grassley delayed the Kavanaugh vote, offering accommodations to Ford and gave her an opportunity to testify. This whole “Republicans are silencing her” card is the biggest load of B.S. I’ve heard all week. Democrats have created a mockery of American politics. https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-presumption-of-guilt-1537570627 The accuser has to prove the allegation, otherwise we have a Jacobin system of justice in which “J’accuse” becomes the standard and anyone can be ruined on a whim or a vendetta.1 point
-
If they can't guilt certain republicans to vote against Kavanaugh, then they can all claim victim status and use it to try to turn women voters against the republicans for the mid-terms. I'd say Ford is a patsy, but as every day progresses, I think she has a political agenda she's trying to fulfill too. Whatever the details, it's all a load of manipulation.1 point
-
It's a political hit job that only has legs because of current #MeToo trendiness and Trump haters. Democrats are desperate...they have no power. To put this in perspective, there was a re-opened Senate hearing for Anita Hill when Justice Clarence Thomas was accused of sexual harrassment, but it only delayed the inevitable. If a credible finding of assault by Judge Kavanaugh cannot be substantiated, he will join the Supreme Court bench.1 point

My basic point is that I don't see anything uniquely wicked about Iran. Look at KSA, its beheadings, and mistreatment of foreign workers and women; any of the Stans with their vicious dictators most of us have never heard of; China and its minorities e.g. the Uighurs who recently featured in a UN report; Russia in Chechnya; Egypt and many other African countries; and so on.1 point
