  1. It would be interesting to know what would have come out if this case had been argued in court, it's curious to wonder what the Trudeau Liberals are trying to hide by paying Omar off and trying to make this go away instead of putting certain people on the stand under oath and getting to the bottom of what he is really owed through the eyes of a court. Unfortunately, we will never know. This is nothing more than another Liberal Government trying to keep from shedding light on something they don't want to open up for public scrutiny. I don't buy for one single second that this is about Trudeau trying to be fiscally responsible with taxpayer money and avoid a bigger payout if litigated, as he has said. Since when has Trudeau had any respect for taxpayer money? He just spent another quarter of a billion dollars on global family planning, including a fat 20 million dollar donation to the Clinton Foundation of all things. It's painfully obvious this clown has zero problem throwing loads of money at whatever he feels like, the more the better. This lawsuit should have gone to court and been decided by a judge, even if it would have ended up costing twice as much.

  2. We didn't compensate him because his dad corrupted him. His charter rights were not violated because his dad "took him down this path". You have chosen not to accept this so I realize I'm talking to a brick wall, but it was determined that his charter rights were violated by improper interrogation procedures by our Liberal Government and CSIS, and information exchange with the commission...that's it....that's all....That's the extent of the SCOC ruling, period.

  4. This garbage gets old and completely undermines any arguement you are trying to make. Calling people racist or haters or any other label you can think of because they dont agree with a government decision is lazy and sad.

  5. The Arab society has always been dysfunction. West has nothing to do with it. 1500 years ago when they lived in the desert of Arabia and burying their daughters there was no West. 1400 years ago when they became powerful, they invaded their neighbors and setting libraries on fire and badly treating captured territories there was no West. Stop blaming every problem on the West. West did not create all these problems for Arabs. They created it for themselves. They are even at war with themselves as we speak.

  6. Or this "Khadr admitted in the military court to throwing a grenade that killed U.S. Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Speer during a firefight in Afghanistan in 2002. When asked if he conspired with Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda, Khadr also answered "yes."

  9. The thing is Omni, Canadians are used to governments spending taxpayer money on a whim. But if they think that an expenditure is made based on a principle they believe in, they won't denounce it. In the Khadr case they are incensed at the payout.

  13. Would it have been so bad to bring his compensation case before a Canadian court? What bad could possibly come from shedding light on what happened according to the legal system...not innuendo and rhetoric..but actual fact, and coming to an equitable judgement? Maybe Omar was owed more from the Canadian Government...maybe Trudeau screwed him out of what he should of actually collected from us. Maybe light would have been shed on the mistakes made by previous Governments...all of them... including the Conservatives. We could have then acknowledged our mistakes and moved forward with a concerted effort to avoid these mistakes in the future, as determined by a court of law. Instead we move forward by hiding the skeletons and avoid confronting our mistakes by paying for silence to avoid accountability.

  14. Canadians do lose some rights when they are legitimately convicted of crimes and incarcerated. Medical care is not one of them. We're not animals. And violations of charter rights must be financially compensated. Lessons to learn: Our governments must avoid violating people's Charter rights, to avoid having to compensate them. You pick a bad case to make these points - a child taken out of the country into a war, incarcerated with harsh treatment with Canada complicit, and a 'confession' extorted without evidence of a crime. You might have been able to make that case about his father back when, but it's too late for that now. And of course you can't punish the son for the crimes of the father, though it appears that some people here would like to.

  23. It was a bogus court for various reasons, but the most important is probably because people were held without access to any legal representation. That by itself goes against both US and Canadian Constitutions.

  24. AG...maybe this helps. The quoted article was from June of 2007, but read Sept 2007 September 2007 A three-member appeal panel rules that the decision was in error and reinstates the charges against Khadr. Khadr's lawyers later filed an appeal, seeking to stop the U.S. military case against their client. A judge ordered in October that Khadr's trial proceed. June 4, 2007 A U.S. military judge drops all charges against Omar Khadr because he is an "enemy combatant," and the military commissions have jurisdiction only over "unlawful enemy combatants." http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/canada/key-events-in-the-omar-khadr-case-1.1153759

  30. No Canadian court ever ruled that Justin Trudeau had to give Khadr $10 million of taxpayer money. ===== And as B_C notes above, it was Chretien that lobbied to have Benazir Bhutto release Khadr (father) from custody in Pakistan. And it was Chretien who allowed the US to send Khadr (son) to Gitmo where he was "tortured". (By that definition, every time I fly long-haul on Air Canada and the plane is delayed - Air Canada is "torturing" me with sleep deprivation.) Indeed, it was under PM Chretien (once justice minister to Trudeau father) that Canadian government representatives assisted in this torture of an infant Canadian citizen. It was Harper, BTW, who allowed Khadr (son) to leave the torture chamber of Gitmo and return to Canada. ====== As brand names go, it is the federal Liberals that are covered in Khadr sh*t. The question is whether Justin Trudeau will now get covered too.

  31. A lot of them do. If given the choice between working in sweat shops (which means food in their tummies), or hunger.....what do you think they'll choose? If it will help you survive starvation - wouldn't you volunteer? The problem with bleedin' hearts - they try to equate their charmed lives with those that are barely surviving. Their priorities aren't quite the same as yours!

I am not fond of Arabs either but in every group or race there are some good and some bad people. Generalization and inciting hate is wrong and evil. You have proven that you are insane.

  34. Sgt. Spears, the rest of the US, Canadian, Australian, British, etc. forces were part of a UN Security Council approved effort to engage those who attacked the US in 9/11 - expressly to eliminate the foundation of terrorism that was threatening several UN countries and thus world peace and security - and they were doing so at the invitation of and co-operation with the legitimate government of Afghanistan. The Taliban and Al Queda - for whom the Khadr's voluntarily left their adopted nation ( to go to a country NOT of their origin but one of their terrorist group's sites of invasion of another sovereign state - clearly violating their sworn Oath of Allegiance as naturalized citizens). Any attempt to legitimize or excuse what they were doing as being "soldiers" or "defenders" is purely BS. I might once again point out that CANADA had its citizens fighting on behalf of the alliance forces in defense of the peace and security of many other nations without the balls to stand up to the same terrorists they are now being attacked by. The Khadrs may have killed some Americans, but they could just as easily have been attacking Canadian forces. Trying to hide this behind the "child soldier" defense is similarly disgusting. The little crapbag was not forced into this situation, he went by all accounts extremely willingly and knowledgeable (and thoroughly trained) about what his purpose was. Deportation is far too good for the surviving Khadrs, a firing squad would be far more appropriate.

  35. If Justin's popularity takes a hit, certainly the Liberal Party will be negatively affected as a result. The Khadr affair is seen negatively by the majority of Canadians. IMO, the problems plaguing the Missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls Inquiry will do more harm to Justin Trudeau and the Liberals. You cannot so easily pay off a large group of grieving and irate parents and relatives of Native women who have been murdered or have disappeared. The brass running the inquiry have not even presented an interim report yet and is asking for more money and resources. Justin and co. are mistaken if they think it will be a quiet summer of kissing babies, selfies and BBQs. https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2017/07/11/ten-days-two-crises-in-trudeaus-mid-term-summer-tim-harper.html

  36. "Lil elf" here. Well if you took the time to go to Brother Nathaniels website you might learn a little more about the joys of zionism. Arthur Topham has a website called Radical Press where you can also get some additional information about zionism. But then again you probably would not bother to go visit those websites anyway. They are just too radical and too far right for you to visit. I think that Argus is right about you. You never seem to offer up an opinion all that much on most posts but instead prefer at times to attack and mock anyone whom you disagree with. So, "lil elf" here again would like to know as to why you have gone off topic? You tell everyone else here who goes off topic to get back in line but yet you seem to do it quite a bit yourself. "Lil elf" here just saying.
