  1. Crisse de câlisse de sacrament de tabarnak d’osti de ciboire! (that's mostly what I remember from my year spent in Quebec)

  2. Swear words uttered by French Canadians stem from a frustration with the power and influence that the Catholic Church had on Quebecers. At one time the Church dominated every aspect of their lives. The quiet revolution, which saw that power abate considerably, didn't alter their swearing habits. In 2006, the Church ran a campaign on the meaning of these swear words in the hopes those swears would diminish. http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/montreal_diocesan_campaign_posters_teach_sacred_meaning_of_religious_swear_words/ I'm Francophone and so is my spouse. I tell you, to hear us go at it at times at home you'd think you were attending mass.

  3. On the CBC news this morning our immigration minister announced that Canada is going to give some more of our Canadian tax dollars to a number of African countries that are supposedly needing Canadian assistance, again. The amount quoted was $119 million but as we know from past examples this might just add up to a lot more than just $119 million. When the government likes to quote a price it is always way lower than what it will end up costing in the end. So, the question that I have to ask is why after thousands of years do Africans still need foreign-aid? Why is that western countries have progressed well over the centuries, and that is quite evident by just looking around in our homes and outside as to how far advanced we have become in the world in the last century alone. So what is holding the Africans from doing the same thing? Is it religion? Is it having too many babies? Or is it that they do not have the intelligence enough to be able to go beyond what they have been doing for all these centuries? This constant welfare program goes on and on and never seems to come to an end. I don't know as to how much more are we going to have to keep bailing these Africans out. It seems that Canadians have done their fair share of trying to help but it is not working. I say enough already. They have had plenty of opportunities to get on board with the rest of the developed world but they don't appear to want too or even try to want too. I say no more money. Let's start keeping those wasted tax dollars back in Canada for Canadians who need it, not strangers half way around the world who will never do anything with those tax dollars. What say you? Anyone care to comment on this? I have and I say no more welfare aid.

  4. Of course ALL countries that have the ability spy, do it to each other and at times one country may ask another country to spy on someone within that country because in some countries its illegal to spy on your own. So that being said... does any one really think Britain would say Yeah, we spied on Trump.... no country would admit that.

  6. It's easy to blame the west, and it feeds to one's self-loathing complex. However it is a really simple-minded view, IMO. You might recall things like the cold war and intense competition among global powers to control the resources of foreign, undeveloped lands. Various places around the world are viewed as "strategic locations" for this power struggle, nothing more nothing less. It is not possible for the west to just sit back and let things take their own course. As soon as they do, the "bad guys" will move right in, in no time. By and large most people would agree that they'd rather be ruled by outsiders from the west than by the likes of the USSR or China.

  8. Good, let them call me a racist. I will wear that word with pride. It will take a lot more than just that word to stop me from speaking out as you have no doubt already noticed from many of my politically incorrect topics that I have created here. It's going to be hard to get people to pull their heads out of their asses when their heads have been up there for so long as they have been for decades. A big task ahead.

  10. You guys do have issues with the tabernacle. Look I grew up in Montreal. All the Saints, Maurice, Le Gros Bil, the Pocket Rocket, Howie Morenz, Doug Harvey, Guy Lafleur/Lapointe, Jacques Plante/ Laperriere, J.C. (not Christ, Tremblay), Toe, Larry, Serge, Vezina, Durnan, Butch, Boom Boom , Le Road Runner, etc., Le Big M, we never said their real names. They were revered and are revered. This is why Francophones don't go further that ST....because they cannot take the name of our Saints in vane. The Forum in Montreal has always been a place of worship and everyone knows God is a Habs fan. Without Les Habs Canada would have burned in hell by now. Les Glorieux are what keeps Canada Canada. This is what we mean by Canadiens/Canadiens. We mean Le CH. Les Habitants sonts la. Americans have no religious diety like that. Well they have the Yankees which is close but come on they were pajamas to work.

  11. Speaking in addition to the "fabulously wealth" Argus, (Dialamah you commie, don't start with me) it is that I do not doubt the usual leftists on this board think making up idiotic pretenses to tax people is swell. I don't. Taxes have never changed the behaviour of addicts just exploit their addiction to get more revenue to waste on idiotic leftist notions. 12. You moderators just refuse to get it, this thread like hundreds of others in this forum are mere asides to the unresolved unmitigated core of the topic which of course is the Wests violent and abusive interference in the ME. Its exactly like sexual abuse in a family, Until such time as that core problem of abuse is resolved and mitigated the dysfunction it's caused will never go away. Ever. Get used to it.

  20. I mostly like applied math as well. Was never particularly interested in the abstract stuff. Proofs and theorems and number theory and all are nice and good to understand how it's done so that you have an appreciation for the structure of mathematics but it was never very interesting to actually do. But when you actually apply math to solve a real world problem, it's fun and exciting.

  22. I've seen some demos of single engine take-offs and taxis that really put the plane through the ol' paces. These newer engines on airliners do allow a lot of leeway for power. Longer ETOPS makes a lot of sense now. ETOPS: Something we needn't worry about in dad's Piper 180. I suppose in the Southern Hemisphere, a suitable 330 alternate could be a grass strip maintained by a Cargo Cult.

  23. Today, Spicer kept the media waiting over an hour and then he went after the media when one of them ask about Trump and wiretapping. Spicer read news reports of the media of the past year about the feds asking for wiretapping etc. The point was either those news reports were fake news OR the feds are lying about the wiretapping. The report said they wanted to spy on Trump and or Trump Tower. Spicer won this one. BTW, Trump waiting for 2 weeks... its because he's waiting for some documents.

  24. The problem is if Trudeau brings in a law, a judge can sentence anyone to a jail term and/or fine. Unless you have a lot of money to appeal and challenge it, there is not much you can do except go to jail. Also, there is no telling which way an appeal court will rule these days and you can't count on the Supreme Court to stand up for freedom of speech. When there is a law forbidding any speech against Islam and their side has lawyers arguing it is "Islamophobia" and against the law, you might have a hard time proving you have the right to freedom of speech. Doesn't matter that much what the Charter says if the law says something different and the judges give more weight to the law because of political correctness and powerful lobbies and lawyers on Trudeau's side.

  27. And more than 4 engines. Not far from my abode is a B-36 wreck that went down due to icing of the engine carb intake ducts...three iced-up and then caused fires. Nice ol' reliable piston engines...as opposed to jets. Having the other three working didn't help... Moral of Story: Aircraft are built to certain specs...if it comes with two engines...it needs two engines.

I don't fear them and I can't in good conscience justify what they do - as people like you and Dialamah seem able to. Do, I believe that our system is better, do I believe that our justice is better, our tolerance, our culture, our politics? Absolutely! Am I personally better that the vast majority of Muslims based on my belief system versus theirs? Again, absolutely!

  45. Our political divisions of progressivism and conservatism originated in the monkeys we evolved from. Brave little progressive monkeys ventured down to the ground first while the scared little conservatives in the treetops screeched and defecated in fear. That's probably what drove the progressives out in the first place. The French merely described the way power and privilege is divided in a society. It doesn't surprise me in the least that conservatives like to associate and ingratiate themselves within the same circle of sycophancy that power and wealth revolve around. Left and right has nothing to do with up and down as evidenced by the crap that keeps raining down from above.

  48. My solution is that you stop robbing my back pocket to do a piss poor job. It should be MY choice to use the money I pay to decide how and where my children get educated on my nickel. "The system" as you call it, is broken. Why should someone raising a family have to wait several generations to fix it? Kids need good education when they are borne, not when they are half way to social security.
