Russian aviation is giving them grief, they don't have enough tanks to push everywhere, they're short on ammo just like the Russians, and while they've definitely had some success it's nothing remotely close to what we saw last year. I think they'll gain some ground but I don't think it's going to be terribly substantial. As far as russia goes - the war is putting a huge strain on them. They say it takes 18 months for this kind of thing to really fully affect the economy and we're around about there, and people are unhappy in russia and the cracks showing up in the system now are getting serious. You'd struggle to find many examples of successful maneuver warfare on open ground without air power. More problematic, however, is that the entire front is a WW1 trenchwork with hundreds of miles of minefields. Russian air power isn't impressive on its own, as evidenced by last year's advances. When targets are funneled into narrow corridors (where the mine-clearing vehicles dig lanes out for advancing columns) and are moving slowly, however, it makes things easy. The Ukrainians have shifted to much slower, more deliberate advances, and it won't be until they push 20-30 km forward that they can actually breakout anywhere (if they even can at all).
