War In Ukraine

⬆️ Analysis - Ukraine's counter-offensive against the invading Russian army will require troops to battle through multiple layers of defense, including the 'dragon's teeth' positions.

.....

IMHO, Slavs are very stubborn people.

For westerners, Russians lived under the Mongols for two centuries.

Bulgarians lived under the Turks for five centuries.

The Poles and Ukrainians - people who speak "Field Slav" or "Border Slav"? They fold.

For those that don't know:

Ukrainia in slavic languages means "y krai" - at the border

Pole = field

=======

In English, we refer to Germany. The French call it Allemagne. And the Italians call it Tedesco.

IMHO, these pre-1914 multi-cultural places of Europe no longer exist - except by architecture.

In Montreal today, we have a remnant of this world.

They don't understand the smart French irony, they will think you are trolling them.

I am trolling no one.

====

1. As John Cleese noted: "Americans don't understand irony."

2. Irony? American Liberals don't understand that the world is laughing at them.

It takes a Canadian to be ironic.

Sarcasm: Saying something obviously false - someone spill's milk and you say "Smart move!" (You know it's wrong.)

Irony: Leslie Neilsen in any Naked Gun movie. (He says something that he thinks is true - but we all know is wrong.)

====

Irony requires an audience.

For your information:
Bulgarians are not Slavs.
Serbs are Slavs and lived under the Turks for five centuries.
The Russians lived under the Mongols and Tatars for four centuries.
Tatars and Mongols are not the same people that are usually confused in the West.

I am very pro-American.

But as a Canadian, I loved the Cleese movie "A Fish Called Wanda". Well written, well played.

Can you define what Canadian means?
Does a Canadian have a cultural and national identity?
Do Canadians have Canadian language?
Does Canada have its own head of state?
Can we agree that:
"Yet still British colony, Canada is spatially huge, culturally tiny and politically insignificant as well as founded on the genocide of indigenous people".

?

Well that's pretty scathing.

Guess we'll see what happens in the ukraine offensive but it sounds like russia isn't going to have the leadership structure in place to put an end to this anytime soon.

When the war started, on Eastern European comment sections, Russian trolls, some even local sympathizers, came out of the woodwork with messages that the "Great Red Army can reach the Atlantic within a few days, Ukraine will be no issue."

Well in fairness so did the pentagon and a few other experts as well. :)  I think it was assumed a very good showing would be if they held 10 days.

And no it's not looking great, that's for sure. It looks like it's going to grind on for at least another year sucking a tonne of money and manpower out of Russia. Sooner or later it's got to wear on them.

I heard of some vultures that are waiting around for what remains.

It is rumored that they come from Beijing, the CCP headquarters:

Well they certainly stand to gain. With russia cut off from western markets right now, as well as being weakened militarily, china will certainly have an opportunity to tie Russia to it's apron strings much much tighter. Its' one way they might reduce reliance on american markets.
