What is the point of paying managers if we are the managers of these systems?

Well said. The bureaucracy in this country in general, and now thanks to this virus very obviously has learned and perfected the paradigm and practice of separation of compensation from responsibility: we are paid but you bear responsibility. This is nothing new of course, in the long history of humanity. It is even easy to predict the next stage: "bread and brioches". We're paid (by you) lavishly to care for you so why don't you love and cherish us, no we insist.

Unless already there, can we tell?

Why would we be asked to manage stops signs or hospitals, we pay into such systems so we are not required to think about such things. What is the point of paying managers if we are the managers of these systems?

Moreover, who is holding these people accountable for their positions?
Answer- it is us.

We Candians.

That is an assumption, or a presumption but as yet, not an observable fact.

For perspective:

1918 Spanish Flu:

World Population - 950 million

50 million died = 5.26%

2018 Seasonal Flu:

World Population - 7.5 billion

650,000 died = 0.009%

2020 Covid19:

World Population 7.8 billion

500,000 died = 0.006%

1% of the world's population would be 77 million dead

Obviously Goddess wants more bodies before taking it seriously...and not just the imaginary bodies of "young athletes dropping dead from heart attacks."

Your figures don't mention 2021.   The total number of deaths is 5,449,423.     There would also be far more than 5 million who suffer from long Covid or ongoing medical / health problems as well.

how many died of Covid in the world? - Bing

This is one result of the pandemic.   The pandemic has caused trillions of dollars in damage to the economies of the world and continues to do so.

I used the 2017-2018 flu season because that was a particularly bad flu year.

But no one was screaming that the world was going to end, businesses and schools were not shut down, the world's economy was not ruined.

Is it the pandemic or is it our insane response to it?

If we had followed the world's previously decided upon pandemic plan, we wouldn't be in this mess now.

Interesting. Of course in 2018 we didn't have the testing and cataloguing system we've built now for Covid, so those numbers are not even directly comparable.

Meanwhile we hear that in 2020, "There was NO FLU".

Someone referred to you as he but your photo is a she.  Are you male or female or binary or one of the other dozen or so?

What pandemic plan are you talking about?  This is all new for the world and they are doing the best they can.

"The pandemic" didn't do it. WE did, through mismanagement.

Did you know there was supposed to be an emergency plan developed after SARS-1 occurred almost 20 years ago? Just mentioning that in case you want to excuse the government by saying "nobody saw this coming".

Yes, more people died of covid in 2021 than in 2020.

Why do you think MORE people died after the vaccines were available than before?

It’s so irresponsible how media will take a picture of a stretcher, mention that one hospital declared a “Code Orange”, and then use alarmist language.  That code basically means that the hospital is preparing for an anticipated surge that hasn’t happened yet.  Another example of manufacturing crisis.  Hospitals are fine and people are recovering well from Omicron.

The damage is primarily the result of lockdowns and restrictions, certainly since widespread vaccinations.

You still don't understand the significance of the word "novel"? You're going to be really embarrassed when you find out.

"See it coming" is not exactly the same as "move that b..m". Why would it, what's the incentive for doing it, or penalty for not? The longer the crisis mode is, the more and better happy benefits and entitlements (out of public's pocket) would roll in. How could it go wrong?

"Novel" has nothing to do with the numbers.

So?   It is still a lot of people.  The number of deaths is about 5.5 million people which is possibly more than the population of British Columbia.
