Dougie93 Posted March 26, 2020 Report Posted March 26, 2020 That being said, this exact scenario where the Black Sawn was going to come and Toronto was not going to be the place to be, was all part of the plan This property is nice, but the thought was that this would be a place where we could hunker down and never need to leave, if the shit hit the fan Quote

Its the bonafide boonies here and the 2 acres we got 35 years ago is worth 40 times as much today. It seems ridiculous but it is what it is. I've not been looking to sell either but goddamn I could by a lot of boat for what I could sell this place for. Probably have enough left over for a berth in False Creek and a flop in Yaletown...maybe after the dust settles. As for rising sea levels then? Pfffhhht. Yeah, my parents moved us to Toronto in 78' Glenn Gould's Toronto the Good My wife is not a Toronto girl, she's from Halton, so she refused to live in Toronto long term By this point Toronto was getting annoying anyways, and you don't get the bang for your buck, everybody is house poor, even the rich Also it's a boom & bust world and the booms & busts are getting bigger, so after the last one I decided to move out of the dense urban jungle Quote

It's not reporting the positive tests of those who feel fine. I know I'm shocked - SHOCKED to discover China under-reporting the number of people with the disease. I'm sure everyone else is too. Yeah I've been trying to tell everyone this for the last couple of weeks. Given their initial cover up and their flexibility with the truth, I don't think we can trust a word they say on this matter. Nobody else has managed to just shut the virus down cold-turkey, so how has this disaster of a government managed to stop it all at 81,000 cases? Not likely. There's no doubt that EVERYONE's numbers are underestimating the number of people infected. This virus doesn't have a 14% mortality rate. If we're to believe the 1-3% mortality rate instead, we're underestimating the number of infected by at least 10x. 1 Quote "A man is no more entitled to an opinion for which he cannot account than he is for a pint of beer for which he cannot pay" - Anonymous

There a multiple strains, and you can catch them over and over, you don't have immunity even if you've had it already, and people are still spreading new virus The crisis is not going to be over until there is a safe & effective vaccine. Dougie93 Posted March 27, 2020 Report Posted March 27, 2020 Ever since I retired and became a recluse, I stopped catching colds & flus, i was never a sickie to start off with, but I stopped catching them altogether Even when my wife catches them when she's traveling for work, I still don't catch them from her So if you just stay home, stay out of the hot zone, be reclusive, you wont catch it and you won't bring it home with you Basically just enjoy the staycation while it lasts Quote

You think that social distancing encourages a sense of trust of others, especially strangers? Or would it do the complete opposite. I think it`s the opposite. The attitude is, keep away from me. Keep your distance. Don`t talk to me, you might breath out some virus. Don`t lend me a helping hand, don`t touch any of my belongings. The other day in the Metro parking lot there was a little old man, rather bent over and trying to transport 4 big jugs of water to his car. This was before all the fear and nonsense really started. He could barely walk so I carried 3 of the jugs over for him. Said thanks, goodbye. Now just do that today. You walk over and touch their stuff, their gonna pull out a gun and tell you get lost, you infected piece of crap. That will be the new kumbaya. Quote

And what's most unfortunate is that your sister and her partner will have to assume it was just a flu until they know otherwise. This is why the more important testing we need now is for antibodies and screening for immune people who can replace the gaps in the workforce asap. From each to each...pay it sideways.
