Yes, but it is a common social and political dynamic in the U.S. because the Democratic party is very dependent on the so called "black vote", and anything that reduces turnout and votes in "urban" cities and counties hurts their election chances.

This is why we see prominent "people of colour" with conservative views on Fox News and social media channels.   Other African American groups have openly challenged the Democrats to earn their vote instead of presuming they have no other choices or ideas.   As in 2016, there is no Obama to save the Democrats in 2020.

Trump did better with Black and Hispanic voters than many want to admit, especially males.

It's still something that makes me uneasy a bit, because where I grew up in Québec, everyone got along very well and racism was not accepted at all. Even in my super white rural neighborhood growing up when I was a child, there was no tolerance for racism at all, some kids would get beat up for that. It's not something you bring up in Québec. You may bring up the other person's language (English vs French) for its lack of cultural assimilation, but race, never. 

It's crazy that you have this mentality, and I noticed it when I traveled to Brazil too, this kind of 'race mentality'.

Racism is a fundamental building block in U.S. history and development...it cannot be totally extinguished for lots of reasons, including special interest groups who will never give up on racism as a political weapon.    That's why some of the Democrat candidates are beating the drum about slavery reparations....and identity politics revolving around race.

Racism ideology inflames and enrages on all sides of the spectrum, even when it is used as an obvious ploy from an otherwise weak position.   So called "people of colour" (a racist term) cannot get past this mindset and baggage forced upon them by those who wish to use it for their own agenda.

And yes, there are historical parallels with Brazil that match your description.

Canadians, once again I ask you this question, if you have such a huge problem with the US, let it go. Find other nations and form alliances and new trade treaties with them. Find nations that share your values and I'm sure there are plenty especially over at Europe. There are 193 other nations out there. You are part of the commonwealth aren't you? Try finding finding nations there. Let them go and free yourselves of this frustration. And if your excuse is your government won't allow it: have you tried using your votes? Have you tried running for politics so that your voice can be heard and hopefully will be followed?

 

Also, Canadians, it is not your place to tell the Americans what to do. They elected a racist? They elected a misogynists? So what? It is their president after all. If the democrats or the alt-left liberals here can show me as to where Trump has ever said a real racist derogatory word in any of his speeches anywhere, please show it to me. Many new jobs have been created, and markets are way up, and Black and Hispanic employment has been on the rise in America. But all the lefties in America and Canada still can't seem to get it and still can't stop using the "racist" word. The word "racist" and "impeachment" is all they seem to have left to try and use against Trump. Not working very well. I will bet that when those lefties have their alphabet cereal in the morning they always spell the word racist and impeachment out. Hey, you never know, eh?  They really do love that word "racist" and "impeachment", don't they?
