Trump certainly wouldn't start gassing people but he would have no troubles nuking 6 million people while his Nazi followers cheer along.

I'm one of the people who thought calling Bush Jr. Hiltler was an insult, so I don't use the term lightly, but indeed, Trump has the potential to be a Hitler in the making.

I got news for all the folks channeling their hate for Hitler/Trump...nuking 6 million people ain't nuthin' compared to what American, British, French, Russian, and Chinese strategic forces are ready to do at a moments notice.

So let's see the FEAR for all the Hitlers...past and present. Hitler would probably love all the attention. Amazing....

Derek, this is for you:

Stalin rose to power through violence. I suppose you can try and make a comparison to Bernie Sanders who won't even insult HRC, but I'd be hard pressed to find much.

And just to clarify - I don't think Trump is heading straight to Hilterism, I just said that of all the Hilter comparisons I've seen in my life (and rolled my eyes at), this one seems to me to have the most potential given the political environment of Trump's supporters and his appeal to the masses through fear, ultra-nationalism and otherwise, needless bravado. It's very much alike to how Hitler started his roots as well.

Everyone is aghast in hindsight for what he did, but we forget that it didn't happen overnight.

But sure, I guess Sanders could be a Stalin too, anything is possible. Just some are more possible than others.

So what ? If Americans want a new "Hitler" (like FDR), then it will happen. Why is that such a big deal ?

Ahhh but that's my point, in that its an insane comparison..........though Sanders and Trump share many similarities (populism, anti-establishment, protectionism, praying upon people's fears, be they Muslims/Mexicans or evil bankers/corporate elites etc), neither is a despot in the making, nor do neither have a hope in hell in winning a general election........suggesting they are a redux of evil from history back only lowers discourse.

And as I said above, you could place similar traits with Sanders by tweaking each other's objet du jour........they both speak to the same type of crowd, in the same manner, but with every so slight differences.

Doesn't make Sanders a Stalin. nor Trump a Hitler though.......

How is it "more possible" that Trump is Hitler 2.0? I've read both Art of the deal and Mein Kampf......both very different reads, from two very different people.........

Trump is not a new Hitler.......more so the new P.T. Barnum of his generation......

We shall have to wait and see but I reckon a few of the slams Romney leveled at the Donald in his scathing discourse today will likely stick. Mostly because many were more or less true. It is interesting on a more serious note though to see the GOP pulling out all the stops to stop the self destruction as they see the likelihood of the keys to the WH remaining with the democrats for a third term.

Right...these same scared people said that George W. Bush was "Hitler"...and he served for two terms as U.S. president.

They even said that PM Harper was "Hitler".....krikey...Hitler has never been more popular.

They may have some similarities while appealing to the people but it seems that you are attempting to bury the fact only Trump is appealing to racism, violence, segregation and torture. The stooge has called Mexican immigrants primarily criminals and rapists, vowed to build walls, intern and deport Muslims, increase the use of torture and slaughter the families of terrorists, It's the racist roots of his message that draw apt comparisons to an early Hitler, not the fact that he's anti-establishment.

Trump did not call Mexicans primarily rapists and criminals. He did not vow to "intern" Muslims.

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

No where there does he say or infer that Mexicans are primarily rapists and criminals. And to play the Hitler card is laughable. This guy is a buffoon with motivation. And should he get to the Whitehouse, all of his bad ideas will get shredded in Congress, just like Obama's bad ideas did.

Ahhh no, Trump's message sales pitch is one of a "Fortress America", insulated from what many feel are outside predators........Sander's message is exactly the same, but replaces illegal workers and terrorists with globalization and anti-corporate capitalism themes..........

That a racist segment of the population supports Trump is no different than Obama being supported by Louis Farrakhan.......yet nobody suggests Obama is anti-semitic. Likewise, if one were to go through Sanders supporters they would also find countless kooks.........that is but part in parcel with being on the fringes of society and in turn politics................

He wanted to track and identify Muslim Americans. That's not how it began with Jews in Germany?

How does "some, I assume, are good people" sound to you? It's a reluctant hedge. He has to assume there are good Mexicans? He doesn't know that there are any? Come on, man. It's exactly what it looks like. Trump's arguments appeal to violent radicals and he's pretending that he has some intelligent and nuanced argument when point in fact is that he doesn't.

And Jimmy Carter did that with Iranians in the later 1970s........

Hey, are you white? Because there's a lot of violence committed in the name of White Power. Maybe you should be tracked?

Islam isn't a race. It's a religion and anybody regardless of skin colour can join.

So what? Do you really think the vast majority of religious people actively CHOSE their religion?

Right. So, you're white and there's a ton of violent white radicals. Should you be tracked?

What Trump is saying is referring to the Mexicans that come to the US, not all Mexicans. He's saying that more of the bad ones enter the US, and he assumes that some of those ones are good people. He's not speaking of all Mexicans or Mexico in general. If he said this of Mexico in general, then I'd agree with you. Either way it was sloppy language, and typical of Trump, from the hip in a unorganized ramble.

My opinion is that people that are willing to break the law, and enter another country illegally have a lower moral code.
