Overall I agree woith you generally speaking ( i know, twice in one day! ) but it's worth noting that the problem with the american system is that it didn't start out that way. In fact the president's powers were exceptionally limited. But the way it was designed made it easier and easier for more and more presidents over the years to steal more and more power and put it in the office of the president and nobody could do anything about it. And that is probably the biggest flaw. It has no version of a GG to act as a democratic circuit breaker and say "oh no you don't". We have had prime ministers who played similar games (i ain't lyon!) but we've had gg's stand up and smack them around a little, and it keeps our democracy from going off the rails. The us had no effective version of that and now as you say they elect a king, and there's no reason to believe that the problem won't contine to get worse over time So the Westminster based system is not only better in practice but it's better by design and more resistant to the kind of abuses we've seen take place in the American system. As a result even though the majority of people voted against Justin Trudeau and his last election you didn't see tons of people running around claiming the election was stolen

The interesting thing is you can often tell which side is lying just by looking at who's complaining and looking for 'validation'. The truth doesn't need a lot of explanation or Validation from others. If you know something is true you know it and you don't particularly feel a need to announce it or demand other people agree with you or anything like that. We'll talk about it if somebody brings it up but you're happy just knowing what the truth is. On the other hand if you're angry and you know that you're in the wrong you need to demand other people agree with you and that other people validate your anger and that other people tell you that you're right to be furious and outraged etc etc. You go out in the world desperately trying to encourage others to agree with how bad you've got it or how terrible that other person is or how unjust and unfair this or that situation is and we should all be angry as hell and mad and not put any thought into it . The challenge with your solutions is that they cost money, and that money has to be raised by the state, which means taxes, which means people can't afford to get by on 1 income and so both people have to work, and they don't have time for children. You see the vicious circle there. You could maybe find a way to stabilize things at their current low birth rate but one of the main reasons people don't have kids right now is financial And as to cultures who have lots of kids.... that was US!! My grandfather was the 10th kid, most of mom's generation had had 3 or more kids, my mom was the 'underproducer' with "just" two so to speak. But... nobody can afford to have kids in this environment right now and every dollar you spend in gov't money to fix that makes the situation worse because you have to take it away from families. I mean we have MASSIVE paid maternity leave right now! It's HUGE! Applies to females AND males. And our situation is getting worse. For a woman to have 3 kids it means she's out of the work force for at LESAST 4 -6 years these days and most people can't afford that and THEN we talk about daycare and so on and the costs of that. If you want a higher birth rate the very first thing you'd HAVE to do is make it possible for the single income family to exist again. WIthout that... no kids. Nobody has the time.

That won't help them either way. If Quebec chooses some sort of sovereignty association the first nations will get dragged along with it without having much of a say. If Quebec cruises to actually separate and become a brand new country then it will be based on the majority of the people and again the first nations won't have much of a say other than the same say every other citizen has Now the argument can be made that various first nations groups could choose to separate from the new country. I mean if Quebec can separate from Canada then a geographical region within Quebec can separate from Quebec But for the most part they'd be landlocked and they would have no resources and no access. And they wouldn't be able to leave with any more than they could get a vote on so the size of the land that they could leave with is probably fairly limited which makes it unsustainable
