  1. I don't know. But the Muslims who work in our department also have the holiday off, for Christmas. They should enjoy that.
  2. Ahh, so it's true, people are having a very Merry Christmas this year, more merry than any other, I dare say. Shall we invite over old Uncle Ebenezer for some Christmas goose this year? Why yes... yes we shall!
  3. Saying "Merry Christmas" is not just for Christians. I said it to everybody this year, were they Christian, Hindu, Jew, Chinese, or just "other". Everyone was happy and smiled back (well, kinda... I think I saw the two Chinese guys might have rolled their eyes?). Anyway, it should be declared a universal greeting among mankind, and given special protections by the UN!
  4. Humbug, eh? lol
  5. It's true, he did say he'd stop the war on Christmas. Well from what I hear Americans got a nice little tax break, that should make for a more merry Christmas.
  6. Liberals complete vilification of anything that is Trump emboldens the sicko Kim Jong Un:

"“The international society should remain vigilant against the maneuvers of the gang of Trump to invade and control North Korea by igniting a nuclear war at any cost in the Korean peninsula, and clearly see through the ulterior motive behind its repeated talk of dialogue, designed only to cover up its evil intention and mock the entire world.”

  7. "I say, God is thus and thus" - Zarathustra
  8. I think the UN has failed it's mandate to find a solution in this conflict, and it needs to admit that before any vote it passes can be seen with credibility. A good dose of empirical control is usually effective in stabilizing a region, where two different groups cannot achieve mutual cooperation. History shows time and again that it works. Just look around you...
  9. Thanks, Merry Christmas! I have noticed that many more people are saying it this year. I wonder, is that what others are experiencing as well?
  10. Wondering what the reaction will be when the US Embassy moves to Jerusalem? "I strenuously object!"
  11. We have some left wing views here also. But it's true that there are fewer here advocating for the left than right. For some reason lefties wanted to excuse themselves from civil conversation.
  12. I live in a safe Liberal riding, so I am basically screwed.
  13. Everyone wants to be the PM's friend. According to the ethics commissioner, the friendship part is overruled by the lobbyist part. The PM is not being entirely truthful here when he says he didn't know... evident in his stammering response to questions. I guess he just felt that he was entitled.
  14. Point is, our works are also evidence.
  15. Your quote "So you can't provide what you yourself did and said as recent as yesterday." I guess you forgot what you said. Of course I know what I did yesterday. I also know that a year ago I was doing things like getting ready for the holiday break. If I want more detail of anything significant I did, at work for example, I review my notes. Humans can extend their memory using media. In my life I have learned many things that I remember, such as my technical work or playing a musical instrument.
  16. You believe whatever you want. If you don't believe in evidence, I guess that's just you then.
  17. "Can we have that missile defence now, please?"

Mommy can do about as good a job as that $10 trillion missile defense system, and she only asks for a hug in return.

Mommy could also shop in Israel.

  18. It is so bad, we cannot avoid being fed information about US political news even when watching Canadian news outlets. I can't stand CNN, it has become something other than news, and Fox is not available here. The really annoying thing is Canadian news outlets have all tuned in to US news anyway. On channels such as CBC and CTV news we hear far more about US politics, vis Trump, than about Canadian politics. All gossip, opinion panels (with Canadian "experts" giving opinions on Trump, US, etc.) speculation about what the latest emails might hold, whether or not Trump will fire Mueller on Sunday, today a retrospective on alleged lies that Trump has told (like "I've done more than any previous president", or the one where he states that Obama had his phone wiretapped during the campaign) etc. etc. All the same baseless, speculative gossip that you might hear on CNN. I'd like to know what my own government has done today, but that information is very hard to find.
  19. Yet this does not seem very likely, by your own earlier post...
  20. Sure we do, at least in this part of the world. Nonsense. I have a memory. I can remember what I did yesterday, and I keep notes of the work I do so I can go over it in detail. That is evidence. In fact remembering history is both good and bad. Many feuds and long-standing conflicts cannot be put aside... because of history. IF you want evidence of that, read history.
  21. And now for your daily outrage...

  22. All good ideas which I think are relevant, but there is not enough good will to achieve them in a timely manner. We will procrastinate ('what warming? what animal extinction?") until the house is on fire. In my opinion, we're not going to save this world. We're going to screw the pooch until it's far too late. It's probably too late already, industrial society is a freight train that will not be stopped by some hippies waving peace signs and flowers. I think good old Earth is going to roll over and squash us, and we will be gone, and this is not a "bad" thing. Just part of nature. A million years later, all will be well again for life on Earth (sans humans). Giant roaches will type out Shakespearean prose on their typewriters, with segmented, multiple appendages. Then they'll invent computers... the damned computers that will be their final undoing... and ever on the cycle goes, until the sun is gone and the Earth is a burned, black cinder floating in space. No need to fret about it though.
  23. Not always. It depends who you are, your position in society for example. There are ruthless people on both sexes. I have even encountered it myself from time to time, as a manager in an engineering field. Young women who are hired on a contract have flirted with me, because they wanted a full-time job. I felt so- violated
  24. I think all solutions offered are going to be unsatisfactory to some extent, by multiple parties. This conflict likely goes beyond the immediate issues of Israeli vs. Palestinian autonomy, control or what have you this is part of a power struggle for dominance of the middle east. In other words, this conflict serves a higher purpose. ETA: Putin has already made his move on Jerusalem. Trump/ America is responding. Link
