  1. Read a headline today, US unemployment rate lowest in like 50 years. That's unprecedented. Or should I say, "Un-Presidented".
  2. A vote is a vote, whether from the rich or the poor. If you want to give more voting power to the wealthy... think about what that really means. Have you heard the expression "tyranny of the masses"? Country folks have the right to live the way they want, just as city folks do. You give too much power to the government, you know what you get? Run over. US electoral college is a balanced system something like our Ridings. In Canada, you win by the number of ridings, not by the popular vote. These types of wins can happen, have happened before and are actually an inherent vital part of the design of a representative democracy.
  3. My sarcasm is rooted in the fact I'm glad it's over. I didn't contribute to the discussion on this thread until today. Couldn't stand the never-ending media coverage of it on CBC. It's one thing to mention it, but they couldn't stop talking about it. More than half the show was about Kavanaugh. Meanwhile our PM pulls stunts in the HOC, and we hear practically nothing. So you tell me, you want to get all excited about this here shit? Fill your boots, fella.
  4. My god man, you've been gone from here too long. That leftist koolaid you've been drinking somewhere else has infected your brain. Try to relax... world still safe for now!
  5. Will sleep better at night... knowing... the US senate has confirmed their new Supreme Court nominee.
  6. 1. Such things were predicted by people during the original debate on NAFTA, and about globalization as well, long before the internet. 3. By the mechanism which Harper gives. Globlization is a progressive economic instrument, made by them, and here's the problem- they made it for them. Whether conscious or not, we have a sizeable portion who now oppose it, and this is becoming an increasingly popular meme. 4. Because they should know better by now? Trump is the backlash. He is the icon that represents a whole movement, because he became POTUS. Despite the media fury against him, he has still managed to achieve some remarkable things. The fury cannot be extended into anything substantial that he has failed, as president. Therefore it is only because of this, primarily: His anti-establishment, anti-globalist message. Anti-immigration. Local economies, local culture... it is the globalist progressive's most existential threat. Therefore ye fools prattle on, until you achieve your very own demise!
  7. I'm more for de-centralization, and less industrialization. Big cities are a mistake that should not be built. True progressives exist, who believe its possible to have smaller but more self-sustaining communities, even in a technological age. In fact, the quality of life could be higher than it is for a city like Toronto. I'm in Frontenac county. We have some high tech out here. We have our schools, a University, we have R&D. Many high tech companies prefer to relocate to quieter areas, and bring their professionals who enjoy a better living vs. say, Toronto. Easy to beat that. This of course promotes growth in the small community, as those professionals want their kids to go to good schools, have cultural things to do, etc. To an extent that is a good thing, but how far does it go?
  8. We knew globalization would create the kind of shifts in wealth that are apparent now. I recall these fears being downplayed, as they arise every time trans-national trade agreements are made. It's taken some decades for this predictable transfer of wealth to take effect. Harper is saying these agreements often do not take into account the sizeable population who live in small, often isolated communities outside of big urban areas. The politically, economically disenfranchised. In fact the majority of Canadians live in small towns and rural areas. Globalization will always benefit progressives, but it becomes an increasingly smaller, more elite group as time goes on. The swarming dumb dumbs in the progressive middle class are kept well distracted and entertained for this very reason, while they shed their wealth.

Just read that Christine Ford’s friend, Leland Keyser, told the FBI that Ford’s allies tried pressuring her into changing her statement.

Meanwhile..the Left unhinged.  The Ford thing was never about guilt or innocence, it was about stopping a Conservative Court.  And now they don't get their way, they plan to openly, violently riot.  THIS is what they are about.

Speaking of which, it's  pity you cannot understand what I said. Perhaps you've missed the point. I know the world is safe when I hear the leftist media machine complain about how Donald Trump said mean things the other day.Because, this is all they can find to get outraged about. Hence, "All is well..."

Well, what can I say... again, you are just not paying attention.

  11. CAQ wins. Campaign promise to bring a "20% cut in immigration annually." Won huge. Another example of this idea having appeal for voters.

Mr. Trudeau, your days are now numbered.

  13. The news as we know it no longer exists. I cannot stand watching it. I expect many feel the same way. All we have today are platforms to catapult propaganda. Yet we live in the age of information, another blessed gift of technological progress. The lesson, ironically, seems that the more information we have, the less we actually know.

I suppose, with them being exposed by Trump - there's no longer need for any pretense on their part.  It's right out in the open now.

If you refuse to acknowledge reality, you will know less. That's true.

  14. He's missing the point too, it's not a linear relationship vs. population. There is a bare minimum number of councillors needed, below which you cannot run a small town.
  15. Live footage on CBC of Donald Trump arriving at the UN building this morning. Look, here's Trump arriving at the UN! Riveting.

They love Trump. He can fart and the CBC will cover it live. Mind you, the CBC loves anything that happens in the US because they get video dirt cheap off the American networks. Saves them having to have their own reporters and camera people.

  16. Those are their stated priorities going in to the discussion. We are not hearing anything now. Why aren't we hearing anything from Canadian sources?
  17. "Freeland pulled a 180 and argued our negotiation planks would focus on feminism and environmentalism." Liberals’ seriousness at NAFTA in doubt Published:September 12, 2018 It is their clearly stated intention to use NAFTA to promote their brand of feminism. This stance, and the fact they dropped the ball and gave it to Mexico, believing that Mexico would likewise "stand in solidarity" with Canada shows how utterly naive they are. On top of this, it doesn't help that Freeland attends and speaks at anti-Trump events. Their amateur antics have put Canada's negotiating position in jeopardy.
  18. Do you think the US administration believes the Canadian government's sanctimonious moral BS? If you do, then you must believe it yourself. I, or anyone can pick out a number of articles showing how the Liberals are lying when it comes to upholding their moral standards. If it worked both ways, the government of Canada would live up to its own hype. Yet they do not. It's not likely that Trump's administration will fall for this. Even Canadian Liberals are not buying the Sunny Ways crap any more.
  19. Seems many still approve of Ford, even if that poll were true. Attendance of thousands of his admirers at his "Ford Fest" is a poll in itself. The electricity around this premier at his annual event was off-the-charts huge. Thousands upon thousands piled into the Veneto Centre, at 7465 Kipling Ave. in Woodbridge, to not just hear the premier speak, but just to get a look at him — get a picture or a selfie. WARMINGTON: Ford Fest turns into Fordstock
  20. Any attempt for the Canadian government to take a moral high ground holds absolutely no weight. I sure hope that Canadian negotiators do not take this cavalier, irresponsible attitude.
  21. And you believe those trolls represent something important? That's not what the problem is. Let's not detract from valid criticism of the Liberal policy/ agenda, with bullshit accusations of mere sexism.
  22. Liberals want to include their vision of identity politics into the mix. That is the problem many voters have with her, and with Justin Trudeau. It has nothing to do with her being a woman, as many women in Canadian politics are well respected. I suspect it is a sticking issue with NAFTA negotiations as well.
