That's not the role of media 'news'. "News' is reported as it is. 'Comments' on newsworthy items are a persons editorial/opinion pieces. You can find those on X and Facebook. Besides the jokes about your favourite couple.... why so upset? I thought it was funny as hell.3 points

Yup another Liberal invention, when the majority of intersections are crying out for a roundabout.2 points

Answering a question with a question. As usual, you can't engage the logic so instead you deflect and try to change the subject. Here's a real question: What does your question have to do with the one I asked? The logic doesn't follow. 🤡2 points

It's a completely different case. We get it. You hate free speech. You hate taking pictures of free speech on the beach. You've made your fascist aims pretty clear. I don't think America will accept them.2 points

This is truly, deeply stupid. A majority of the country would like to 86 47. We're all allowed to say it openly and freely. There is neither threat or incitement. There is nothing remotely against the law. This also will go nowhere in a hurry. Except that this certainly gives Comey a blank check to sue the administration for malicious prosecution, which he will certainly win. And with any luck, some prosecutors should be disbarred. Will be fascinating to see people defend this nakedly corrupt abuse of power.2 points

I was talking about constant complainers like you and immigration. Point out what was 'stupid', other than you. On cue little Fxx has to meltdown and think he's 'won' something... 🤡2 points

Jimmy Kimmel did a skit where he pretended to be at the WH Correspondents' Dinner, and made this comment: "Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow" CBC's only comment about Kimmel's atrocious filth was: CBC: "Trump has repeatedly urged broadcasters to remove comedy or news programs he dislikes or that have been critical of him, and has pressed regulators to take action to revoke the licences of broadcasters he says treat him unfairly." Firstly, the CBC couldn't find the decency to comment on how distasteful Kimmel's comment was. Then they glossed over the story about the shooter in the WH with this one simple sentence: "Trump and the first lady were rushed out of the dinner on Saturday after a shooting in the lobby of the Washington Hilton where the event was taking place." They made no mention at all of the shooter's hatful ideology, or where it obviously came from. If a shooter went into the WH while Obama was president and then his GOP-playbook manifesto was revealed, the CBC would be talking about it at length for the next 6 months. Thirdly, Trump wasn't whining for no reason, and he wasn't just talking about himself. His strongest criticism of Kimmel prior to this was back when Jimmy Weasel was making jokes about Charlie Kirk being murdered. Last, but not least, Trump has successfully network news for blatantly lying. He won approximately $35M from ABC back when they edited out Kamala's botched interview question and swapped in a coherent response from her which was made from a mashup of her other comments during the interview. The CBC absolutely does not have a "news" channel, and it's another stab in the heart of democracy every time they get to call themselves that. In fairness to CBC, here's what other cult-leaders posted, and what Google Search pulls up in a search for Kimmel's comment: FWIW, here is Melania's eloquent reply: "Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America. People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate."1 point

I'm just here to set the record straight. I'm not your mom and I'm not your therapist. Why should I pretend that you have character or integrity if you're just gonna lie to my face? Do you even have a f'ing clue what CBC is doing to our democracy? FYI it's a farce to say that we even have one right now. We're not even close. This isn't "my opinion": AI Query: "Does a free and balanced media play an important role in democracy?" Yes, a free and balanced media is crucial to democracy, serving as a "fourth pillar" that informs citizens, facilitates open debate, and holds powerful institutions accountable. It acts as a watchdog to prevent corruption and ensures a pluralistic range of viewpoints, empowering voters to make informed decisions. Key Roles of Media in Democracy Informing the Public: Provides accurate, credible news that enables citizens to participate in public affairs and make informed political choices. Watchdog Function: Scrutinizes government actions and institutions, holding elected officials accountable to the public. Providing Plurality: Offers a diverse range of perspectives and ideas, which is essential for healthy public discourse and the inclusion of various voices. Facilitating Debate: Encourages dialogue, critical thinking, and the free exchange of opinions, fostering a well-informed citizenry. Preventing Misinformation: Counteracts the spread of disinformation and ensures that democratic debate is based on facts. Media Freedom Coalition +9 Challenges and Threats Media Concentration: Increasing corporate ownership can limit the diversity of viewpoints. Disinformation Campaigns: Authoritarian actors and misinformation can undermine democratic vulnerabilities, polarizing the public. Lack of Independence: Without editorial independence, media can become a tool for propaganda rather than a source of truth. A free, independent, and professional media landscape is not just desirable but essential for the long-term health and, as outlined by the Parliamentary Assembly, the development of a democratic culture. Be HONEST, Mike. Last chance to salvage a teensy shred of integrity: Is the CBC heavily biased towards the LPoC? I don't come here to sit in an echo chamber. TBH, I came here at first to see if anyone could try to present intelligent leftist viewpoints. Now I know they don't exist. And they don't exist because they don't have to exist. With full control of the MSM, Liberals don't have to make sense, they can do whatever they want. 👍1 point

It's emotional immaturity. Responding calmly to someone who has trouble managing their frustration and anger makes them look silly. They try to drag you down into the muck with them, and they'll escalate to get the desired reaction. When their arguments are weak, the insults and accusations are fight-or-flight responses to having their logic challenged and to avoid humiliation. This forum used to be a place for policy wonks and folks really interested in politics. We used to actually debate here, and there used to be standards and moderation. Now it's a toilet full of no-life 4chan trolls whose behavior would get them banned even on reddit.1 point

I agree that's how it is these days. Although I have a couple of lefty friends with whom we have good discussions on things. I think the other issue is that, deep down, they KNOW the vast majority of the leftist ideologies that have been forced on society have been an utter failure. It's in your face now. And they're still denying and defending it.1 point

Ya, we know. It's why you're so uninformed. You're a liar and everyone here can see it. I've posted hundreds of snippets of committee clips here and you reject them all because they're on YouTube channels or MP X accounts. I explained that most of these are official government channels - holy HELL, Carney just released his "fireside chat" on his YouTube channel!! Some of them are media accounts, some accounts are the actual industries being discussed in the committee. You still reject them. So you can either watch the snippets I post or you can watch the entire proceeding. I'm not here to wipe your a$$.1 point

You sea lioning again there big guy If you disagree with her then it IS your job to support your own position. We've been over this. You should be able to find the info OR info to disprove it easily. They have. The Conservative "base" in Canada (ie. the die-hards) are amongst the least-educated people in the country. https://abacusdata.ca/who-is-in-the-conservative-party-base-and-how-does-it-differ-from-other-canadians/ The Conservative base represents 23 percent of Canadians. These voters would only consider voting Conservative and are deeply anchored in Conservative identity. Over 40% of the screeching monkeys in the base have high school or less levels of education. These are folks we hear the most from on this forum. Less than 1/4 of them even a bachelor's degree.1 point

It's not a slam dunk with him already losing that narrative to the masses with the thuggery they wanted to display. Manufacturing output has increased nominally but has lost over 100K jobs. I'm sure those people out of jobs could care less about a minor productivity gain. Inflation is here to stay for some time thanks to Trump. It's interesting that Biden left office with a solid economy and low unemployment with inflation moving downwards, but the cost of living was still a major talking point in the election. Now it's all good because it's Trump's inflation.... Got it.1 point

Hah, you'll do whatever the CBC and the Liberal government tells you to, just like you always do.1 point

Trump has no affiliation with the Nationalsozialistische deutsche Arbeiterpartei in Germany. There has been an effort through groups like the SPLC to tie him to a party where no such connections exist while simultaneously calling for his assassination and/or serious physical and financial harm by an affiliated group of people.1 point

Not stale arguments...it's fact. A 15 year declining birthrate means we will have less Canadian born people to fill job vacancies as we age. If we don't have enough people to fill jobs then we need immigration. AI isn't going to solve the worker shortages that we have in healthcare and skilled trades, but do agree... AI has and will eliminate jobs, and likely a lot of them. Which ones, how many and when remain to be seen. Immigration was cut and will be lower for the next 3 years. The numbers re smaller but it can't, and won't go to zero. No way... the majority of Canadian's were born in Canada, not elsewhere. In another 10 - 15 years I'll agree with you. Do you have any facts or data that says it's all foreign born people who are poor and living off our social programs, or is it just a guess? The conservatives thought the same during their time so all is equal.1 point

Fortunately for Comey, you have ZERO legal expertise but still pretend you do. The meaning of "86" is far too ambiguous to PROVE INTENT of VIOLENCE. Do you have the courage of your convictions to take my bet on this charge ending in a conviction? LMAO You chickened out last time fortunately for you.1 point

I think it's safe to say the word sovereign is loaded up with enough emotion to be all it takes to throw things into a tizzy. The difference between Norway and Canada is the we have 12-13 essentially sovereign provinces all pulling in as many directions. Some harder than others when it comes to 'their' natural resources.1 point

It is asinine to characterize that as a threat. It's not. And as soon as some of you snowflakes tried to characterize it that way, Comey was very gracious and took down the post, noted his surprise at such a mischaracterization and disavowed violence. Nobody anywhere actually thinks that Comey threatened the POTUS. Todd Blanche doesn't actually think it. You don't actually think it. A jury certainly isn't going to think it. You can pretend. You can defend this nakedly malicious, corrupt prosecution if you want, but it is what it is. And it's going nowhere.1 point

So nobody's able tp criticize the idea of a sovereign fund, just who it's started by? Would that be because the next Tory will just p1ss it away 'reducing the deficit' like Alberta did? Or because thee loser PP didn't suggest it first? Your lame aspersions of corruption are laughable when you all are the same defenders of the open, in your face atcual corruption down South.1 point

Maybe? I doubt anyone is influenced by these people. From what I read, Kimmel's jokes came before the assassination attempt, which is relevant. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c04x40d4424o Just checked... Yes he made the joke days before. It had nothing to do with the attempt.1 point

Good thing the government already rejected the plan, right? https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-stellantis-chinese-evs-leapmotor-melanie-joly-brampton/ Regardless, your whole attitude and understanding on trade seems ridiculous. The Orange Baboon has decided he is going to extort and bully Canada over its reliance on the USA for trade, and yet everything Canada does to diversify and make themselves less dependant is a problem to you because it will upset the Americans? 🤦♂️1 point
