"WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Saturday threatened to impose a 100% tariff on goods imported from Canada if America's northern neighbor went ahead with its China trade deal. Trump said in a social media post that if Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney “thinks he is going to make Canada a ‘Drop Off Port’ for China to send goods and products into the United States, he is sorely mistaken.” While Trump has waged a trade war over the past year, Canada this month negotiated a deal to lower tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles in return for lower import taxes on Canadian farm products. Trump initially had said that agreement was what Carney “should be doing and it’s a good thing for him to sign a trade deal.” Carney’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment." Donalds Father, Fred Trump, was diagnosed with Alzheimers at 65. He slowly and incrementally declined mentally until dying of the disease at 93. In his 80's, Family members set up a "pretend office" at the organizations offices in Brooklyn, so he could continue to go to "work" signing and organizing blank pieces of paper to maintain the illusion of productivity and keep him calm. Now, his son, is facing the same demon, and the World is noticing. Observers and medical experts have noted several behavioral and physical indicators they suggest point toward cognitive decline or dementia. While the White House maintains donald is in "excellent health," critics and health professionals have highlighted the following signs: Donald has been observed appearing disengaged or slow to respond to emergencies, such as failing to react when a guest fainted in the Oval Office. He has also reportedly confused names and events, such as a bizarre 2026 claim about a looming ice storm. Experts have noted "phonemic paraphasia," where he starts words but cannot finish them, and a decline in the complexity of his vocabulary. His speeches have been described as increasingly rambling, lacking focus, and filled with incoherent segues on unrelated topics. Donald has reportedly fallen asleep multiple times in public view during his second term, including during Cabinet meetings, high-level diplomatic signings, and even a military parade. Observers point to increased irritability, paranoia, and "lashing out" at critics or staff as signs of deteriorating impulse control. Physicians have noted a "gingerly" or cautious gait when walking, as well as visible signs like swollen ankles, which some suggest could be linked to broader health issues. Some experts, including psychologist Dr. John Gartner, argue that donald's repeated use of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) suggests he is being monitored for, rather than just screened for, dementia. The question is, as donald falls deeper and deeper into mental decline, how far will the White House go in covering up his decline? I guess we're going see. .2 points

Not much of a buy back program where you state you will compensate only 150,000 legal gun owners 1/10 of what they paid for their legally purchased firearms.....That's not a buy back programs that's theft....With other experts saying there is on average between 300 and 500,000 firearms out there deemed illegal....while other experts have quoted more than 2 1/2 Million to those people the government is telling them get in early or their will be NO compensation....you turn them in for free....you might get a sucker for the RCMP for being a good citizen...your other choice is to deactivate them at your own cost.... This is just another Liberal failure from start to finish...even the minister in Charge of this sh!tshow, has said the program is going to fail....even liberals don't have faith in their own program...And if you don't comply before the dead line they are going to make you a criminal , you'll lose your privilege of owning guns ever again.. Here is the stupid part, Ottawa does not know who owns what .....They are depending on you to be honest enough to report what you have to RCMP, then turn them in...for 1/10 of what you paid for them, if you are lucky...or be a criminal for life....I really hope gun owners put as much thought and effort into this program as the federal government has...which is none that i can see... And to add more sh!t to your mouthful, This firearms that were made for war, also include Paintball, Air soft (kids Toys) because they look scary....also bolt action hunting rifles, and many shotguns because they look scary as well.... This program has been denounced by many police force commanders as garbage, punishing legal gun owners is not the way we reduce gun violence....where the vast majority of those guns are used by criminals who get them illegally from the US...So in true Liberal fashion they are going to punish legal gun owners...makes perfect sense ....2 points

I don’t think Carney taunted Trump at all. He stated facts and charted a path out of the coercion. Everything Trump is doing and saying to hurt Canada and allies says more about him than them. He actually demonstrated essential courage at the right time and cleared a path for others by “removing his sign from the window.” It had to happen. At this point Canada should continue to pursue new markets. India is the next big deal. It’s got a fast-growing middle class and tech sector. Economically and politically, India meshes with Canada better than China and has much potential growth.2 points

Oh Gee we batter rip it up and OBEY THE DONALD. Who do we thing we are to control our own trade, a REAL country? You opened your fat mouth just too many times in just the last week PiggyBoy, be thankful Carney retains enough diplomacy and civility to not just tell you to F*CK OFF to the media, but rest assured 40 million of us would be happy to go just that. We dare you to set foot on any Forces base, bring Vance, Miller and Lutnick along to share the beating.2 points

It would make a lot more sense if they used these cuts in pay and bonuses to support auto-workers. Failing that Ford should tell Carney to make sure he steals 210 times more taxes from these executives than the average Canadian worker. That would probably be easier and more direct than appealing to their charity.2 points

Not looking good for the fascist lynch mob. Prepare for disappointment in the short term, but you can take comfort in the fact that this administration will continue to wage war on the first amendment at every available opportunity. Judge declines to sign off on charges against former CNN anchor Don Lemon Federal prosecutors can go before a magistrate judge to get them to determine there is probable cause for charges to begin a criminal case. A grand jury must then return an indictment within 30 days. It is “extremely rare” for a magistrate judge to reject charges, said Andrew Tessman, a former federal prosecutor. “I really have not heard of it happen before,” he said. “Usually just because the prosecutor is usually very careful about alleging all the supporting facts that would support a charge.” While there are other ways the justice department could move to charge Lemon, a magistrate judge’s refusal to sign off on the case was not a good sign for the government, Tessman said. “That probably means a grand jury is going to be as skeptical about this as the federal judicial officer.”2 points

Yes. Though different countries have different political traditions, democratic or authoritarian, that doesn’t mean that they can’t and don’t change. Money goes where the growth and certainty are. If we can make mutually beneficial deals with countries THAT STICK TO THE TERMS OF THE AGREEMENT, then we should make those deals. Just because the U.S. has played fair and China hasn’t at different times doesn’t mean those roles can’t reverse. Trump is pushing the West closer to China when he sets up radical and coercive trade barriers with allies, because there are only so many customers out there. The original and positive goal of trade expansion was to create new markets for goods and ideas by trading with developing countries that would eventually have the means to import more stuff. That is happening, and it needed to happen faster, so some tariffing was and remains necessary. When you impose high tariffs on allies with which you have quite balanced trade (e.g. Canada-US), that can only be interpreted as a form of coercion, which Trump has proudly stated publicly it is. Canada has to look elsewhere than the U.S. and reduce US leverage over Canada. Blaming Canada for trying to defend its economy and sovereignty adds insult to injury. Canadians must never forget this mistreatment, because it can happen again. Once Canada diversifies markets, grows its domestic market, and boosts its military, the U.S. won’t be able to damage us to the degree they are now, but here’s the rub: Canadians won’t trust Americans as they once did. Relationships are worth more than a few extra bucks, which people quickly learn when the going gets tough. Kicking people when they’re down is low, and there are many historic examples. It’s what separates a liberator from a tyrant. At his age, it would serve Trump well to think about his legacy.1 point

Neither are the Americans. We will be at their whims or China's whims. China can cut our imports in a second for any reason, for us doing or saying anything they don't like. They have done so in the past to us and others. Even a full free trade agreement, as Australia had with them, didn't matter when Australia questioned how Covid had started and wanted an investigation.1 point

That is true, but China is a major power in the world and has a population of about 1.4 billion people. Our population is about 40 million, just a drop in the bucket. We are in no position to dictate to China how they must run their country. Trudeau tried that and they just laughed at him. It is unrealistic to think we can tell them how to run their country or any country for that matter. That is not how the world works.1 point

And it ain't China;s fault is it? Just a scapegoat to blame for what's already happening. BTW: CM just announced Chevt's dropping production of the Bolt. Again. MAJOR NEWS REPORT Trump is threatening to put 100% tariffs on Canada if Canada goes through with the trade deal with China. Under Trump Canada's actual sovereignty is threatened. Trump is intent on making Canada a slave of the U.S. Everything is changed.1 point

34% of our economy is based on exports, and 77% of that goes to the US. Our port facilities are small and antiquated, and can't handle a lot more exports, nor do we have the pipelines to carry more than 16% of our oil to anyone but the US. Further, no one else has any interest in our exports other than raw materials, which, as I pointed out, we can't increase without changes to our ports and new pipelines. China buys raw materials, and very little else. Same with Japan. You think we're going to export cars to either of them!? Or to the EU?!1 point

I assume you mean all those Republican small business people who go on YouTube and talk about how they're going broke because their workers, illegals, fled and they can't replace them... OK, no. What they did is apply the definition that was the intended definition. The SCOTUS will determine if the original definition applies. The SCOTUS did strike down the nationwide injuction. That is a sign that they intend to rule in favor of the President. AP That is called a recission. It is a viable tool the President has. Rescissions 101: Key Facts The president can request rescissions via a special message to Congress. Presidents of both parties have used this authority since 1974, though it has been used less frequently since 2000. This is neither unconstitutional nor a first amendment issue. It may be immoral or unethical, but it is not as you described. Which calls into question why they lost their security clearances. Is it because they were against Trump or did they do something wrong? Bring the hammer down on Perkins Coie and every other player in the Russigate scandal Oh, that's right. They were envolved in President Obama's scheme to create fake intelligence to discredit President Elect Trump. In so doing, these law firms misused their security clearances to undermine a duly elected President and the fair, democratic election. But don't let facts get in the way of a good hysterical scream. The students did not lose their visas for speech. They lost their visas because they threatened and intimidated Jewish students. That level of antisemitism will not be tolerated. Would you agree that white South Africans that threatened and intimidated black students should get the same treatment? The Trump administration says it's going to take a tough stance on antisemitism. Now, one way they're going to try and do that is by signing an executive order - that's what the president did last week - that aims to deport international students who've participated in university protests over the war in Gaza. Good. So what? The Constitution says the government CAN fund science and art. It does not say they have to. In fact, the government does pick and choose what they sponsor. They used to fund space exploration through NASA. Not so much now. They could choose to shutdown SETI or not fund certain field studies of tornados. So they certainly don't have to fund anything to do with gender studies. In fact, you only want them to do it because of a political bent. But politics is not supposed to taint science. So how can the government fund such programs as a result of their political motivations? To do so ruins any scientific findings a.la. global warming. Lol, no. The government owns your ssn. If they want to look at it, they can. Yeah, one judge wrote one opinion. He even acknowledged that his opinion was so full of shit that there was no way the SCOTUS would uphold it. But, nice try. It was clear to him, he explained, that the Supreme Court would overrule such relief given recent decisions the court had issued on related matters. At least he knew he was full of shit. I give him props for that. That dipshit judge tried to get the government to turn around a jet that was damn near ready to land. Even if they could have gotten the message to them, they almost certainly didn't have the gas to return. He was later over ruled any way.1 point

So, instead of responding to the actual point here, about ICE, you engage in the dishonest tactic of just throwing a bunch of random mud at the wall instead. So... what specifically is it about ICE and their enforcement? The only one you listed was the Alien Enemies Act use, which was used to very specifically and narrowly target Venezuelans that had ties to or were members of a violent gang. This fight is still not over in the Courts and isn't being used at the moment.1 point

My figure is a wild guess. Nowadays they are using drones and what not, so not to have too many soldiers killed. Then you hear about a day when Russia supposedly targeted a residential area with hundreds of drones and missiles with the final result of just a few civilians killed. I wouldn't be able to fathom they fight that hard every day , get thousands killed every month and nobody making any territorial gains. This is mind boggling. If they can't gain any ground, they should declare a truce till they have things figured out politically!1 point

Her only bad judgement was believing that ICE agents are legitimate LEO wanting to actually PROTECT US CITIZENS rather than just meet their Miller demanded quotas. 🤮1 point

The argument is beyond absurd. They support this lawlessness, then they claim that because of the mess enforcing it (they created), ICE has to stop. Then they claim they support enforcing Immigration law. All the while, they support breaking the law more to stop ICE. The only consistent thing here is that they support breaking the law.1 point
-
No they have not done any of those things. Ask yourself why this has not happened in Texas, Florida, Oklahoma or any other red state. Because the people in those states are not rioting. The people in those states do not interfere with their operations. The governments in those states cooperate and arrests are made in jails. What you describe is a reaction to radicals rioting and attempting to bypass democratically instituted laws. What you describe is what must be done to protect the true and just laws of our Republic in the face of authoritarianism.1 point

Not at all. Biden is a liar and doesn't tell people what his real intentions are. Say what you like about trump, he always tells people what is intentions are. Which isn't to say that they don't change in the next 5 minutes but he absolutely tells people what he believes his intentions are at that time. So it's no surprise that a scumball like Biden who went on and on about how his own son will have to face justice and then pardoned him lies about his intent, and no shocker trump says outright what his intent is1 point
-
Here's the point - the Federal Reserve must be independent. In every country where the money supply is controlled by politicians instead of an independent board, they end up with rampant inflation. Trump only wants to do what feels good for him in the moment. he doesn't care at all about the effects1 point
