  1. Politico Mixed into formal conversations about whipping votes, social media strategy and logistics, the members of the chat slung around an array of slurs — which POLITICO is republishing to show how they spoke. Epithets like “f----t,” “retarded” and “n--ga” appeared more than 251 times combined. In one instance, Walker — who at the time was a staffer for Ortt — talked about how a mutual friend of some in the chat “dated this very obese Indian woman for a period of time.” Giunta responded that the woman “was not Indian.” “She just didn’t bathe often,” Samuel Douglass, a state senator from northern Vermont and the head of the state’s Young Republicans, replied to Giunta. Clearly awful, awful people. Now we get to watch like-minded folks here line up to once again defend the indefensible.

  2. We can see how Confederation (Canada as one country) is a losing proposition for western provinces. Alberta's energy industry gets hammered. No more pipeline laws. Tanker ban on the BC north coast. Now the agriculture industry on the prairies is being destroyed because Ottawa put 100% tariffs on EVs from China to protect the auto industry down in Ontario. Yet western Canada has been paying billions of dollars to Quebec in equalization payments. So what is the benefit of western Canada being in Confederation? It all seems to be a losing deal for the west. All take by central Canada and no give.

  3. Dude you're a knowm liar, and it's painfully obvious that you're not attempting to mock anything. You can't get mad when people aren't believing you're telling the truth when you're operating with such an ,... er... honesty deficit to begin with You clearly support liberals. I"ve heard you speak out against china but you also think that the liberals benefitting from china is no big deal.

  4. Maybe you could quote the section where I said that... Well, ya got that part right. Show me that quote too. And that... Starting to get the idea? We have laws about this stuff already. If you were advocating for stricter enforcement and a return to common sense bail conditions I'd be all for it. But, if you're looking to repair a system that has been deliberately rendered pi$$ weak by the very government you now trust to exercise judgement with capital punishment then forget it.

  6. I'm not going to indulge your desperate whataboutism. Nor will I entertain the premise that there is any circumstance in which blatant racism and misogyny are excusable. It's beneath the dignity of decent people everywhere. You can wallow in depravity with your brethren, but I won't be joining you.

  7. I see that whataboutism is the first course. Pretty predictable. You could at least put in the effort to find a better whatabout though. Yes, indeed saying something hateful about one hated foe is VASTLY less offensive than blanket racism, misogyny and other such condemnable sentiment. Doesn't make it admirable, but the stark difference is pretty obvious, you know, if you're not working overtime to defend the indefensible.

  8. Canada is the largest supplier of meth to New Zealand and it is costing lives. It is put in the beer and young men who drank it have died. One man who took one mouthful of the beer, had complete organ failure and died a week later. The sentences in Canada are very small for this crime. It should be capital punishment. It could be done with the assistance of MAID. Thousands of people every year in Canada are choosing to take MAID for various reasons. So what is problem with giving capital punishment to a relatively small number who are killing people with their drug dealing? This may be the only way that they will think twice and stop dealing in it. MAID seems like the best solution for these people. A significant number of people in Campbell River, BC are dying from illegal drugs. This also is another example of the failed justice system. People are dying unnecessarily. One reason is the relatively light sentences for drug dealing. There is no serious deterrent. We need to change the system and start saving lives. News report Campbell River has experienced a significant spike in suspected drug overdose deaths, with at least 11 fatalities reported in the past five weeks, raising serious public health concerns. Recent Statistics and Concerns The RCMP in Campbell River has issued a public safety warning following a sharp increase in suspected drug-overdose deaths. At least 11 people have died in just five weeks, prompting authorities to urge drug users and their families to take extra precautions. The Greater Campbell River Local Health Area has one of the highest rates of unregulated drug deaths in British Columbia, with a rate of 109 deaths per 100,000 population in 2024, more than double the overall rate for Island Health. 9. So... Of course they would attack the guy for not being a despicable piece of shit. Oh, and he is voting to keep the government open. Being reasonable and having even the slightest hint of decorum is a problem for Democrats.

  17. Don't get snarky when someone points out the obvious. Yes Trumps a problem but much of Canada's problems lie with the Liberal government. Why are you in denial? You sir seem to programmed with Liberal ideology, and badly at that. I quit responding to his puerile nonsense. A broken record plays a much better tune.

  19. I honestly think they thought the entire world would come to their aid, presumably after a week or so as the world has always done. We've seen many times Hamas attacks Israel, Israel retaliates and because Hamas hides behind its population there are civilian casualties and then the rest of the world screams about how unfair that is and give Hamas a bunch of goodies. But this time they went too far and the rest of the world didn't show up when it was supposed to. They sided with Israel instead and suddenly Hamas realized it had a tiger by the tail but there was nothing it could do. So here we are. They effed around and found out

  20. No it's not and the fact that you think it is bespeaks a problem with discretion and common sense. Until I trust you to fill the damn potholes you can expect no delegation of authority for any measure with life and death consequences that demands discretion, integrity and common sense. In other words, you don't get the keys to the airplane until I trust you. That said, I think you would make a fine Library Officer.

  22. Trump is just acting on pure national interest. You can argue whether his policies are good in the long term for the U.S., but as citizens of Canada we have no ability to apply political pressure on him or any US political parties to any significant degree, except through counter tariffs and boycotts of U.S. products. These measures do influence politicians in places like Tennessee where bourbon sales are down, but on a national level these pressures are just a few more competing interests among many others for the US. Canada feels more impact from these trade barriers than the US. We need to think about what would make us better off and prevent us from being impacted by self-interested US policy, but we can only really influence Canadian politicians and policy. Trump’s moves just highlight that and he knows it. He said he would apply economic pressure for exactly this reason. What he may only now be realizing is that many Canadians are willing to take an economic hit for the sake of sovereignty, so unless these trade barriers are really helping the U.S., they may not make Canadians want to integrate into the U.S. In fact, the opposite may be the case, where Canadians seek less involvement with the U.S. That’s why we need a realistic plan that the citizens of both countries can support. USMCA is really the status quo and I don’t see any inspiring new proposals.

  24. Oh my goodness... what a trusting soul you are. While I admire your faith in government, nothing in my experience (including 32 years in the military) gives me the slightest reason to share it. I don't trust the government to fill potholes in front of the house much less refine a demonstrably failed justice system to the point where it could be trusted with a tool like capital punishment. After reinforcing my point, you then suggest that more people should die because of a failed justice system that is already killing people unnecessarily. Oh no... I find myself in full agreement with Chrissy. Do you really like what you currently see within the justice system enough to trust it as the arbiter of life and death? Do you think the police are on your side when they knock at the door and ask to come in? Would you submit to a voluntary search because you have nothing to hide? That's what you're actually doing by letting them in. Personally, I would only talk to them on the deck. During a traffic stop, do you think the question "do you know why I pulled you over?" is an invitation to have a friendly chat about moving violations? Next time turn the question around and when they say "I saw you cross the yellow line twice between here and Macdonal's offer to play the last dash cam segment back for them and watch for micro expressions as you do it. Everyday stuff like this could fill a 50 page thread. If you think I'm over reacting I'd urge you to take a look at the plight of some people who actually defended themselves against home invaders or thugs on the street. Lot's of stuff online about it and it invariably takes me back to the pothole analogy. Can you name one justice policy initiative in the last 10 years that qualifies as a demonstrable success for the government and Canadian justice at large? I'm not saying there isn't one... only that I can't think of it.

  25. Except, there is no what-about-ism. Just your hypocrisy. That isnt what I said, and you know it. I said that the words have meanings, but the words are either appropriate or inappropriate depending on the context of the conversation. I've used nigģa four times in this conversation. Not one use was racist. You don't want to acknowledge that it is possible to use the words, in context, appropriately. If you did, you wouldn't be able to maintain irrational hatred. I will acknowledge it is possible or even likely they inappropriately used those words. If they did, they should be condemned. We don't tolerate intolerance. I have a hard time believing anything the left comes up with because you guys lie so damn often. And isn't it just so convenient that they just happened to find this text chain days after their guy was caught fantasizing about killing a political opponent and his family? That is some next level coincidence right there.

  26. Disagree. If I own zillions of gold on the Moon. I am not rich. The person who figures out how to bring my gold to the Earth is rich. Newfoundlanders understand this about fish - and the Labrador coast. Newfoundlanders have never understood this about Churchill Falls.

  28. Nah. You just want it to be about that because you got exposed for your disgusting hypocrisy. Yes. Every word can be used appropriately or inappropriately. Without context of every use of each word, passing judgement is Russian Roulette. Your proof that it is true is that your fantasy world needs it to be true? That should work out for you. This, from a guy that won't condemn assasination of a politician and his family.

  32. Brett would appear to be a bot. I'm the entire post is not only fictional but childish. You were sitting next to a police officer that told you that in the middle of a combat zone you'd send police into the basement of a hospital in hostile territory that you didn't control. That makes a lot of sense. Military hadn't fought it's through yet but obviously the police had LOL And the first hospital bombing turned out to be hamas rockets that were fired and went off course and struck the building. I thought AI was going to fix these bots to be a little bit more believable?

  35. Is it a prerequisite of the Maga cult to ignorantly deny anything and everything that has to do with clean energy, the climate and vaccines? Get your head out of your ass... Solar panels are tried, tested and proven technology that has been around for decades. There is as much risk with a solar panel as there is with bad or faulty wiring. Hail damage is non-existent unless the hail is bigger than 1' in diameter then most everything else the hail hits like cars is going to get damaged. The maintenance of cleaning a solar panel is not insurmountable... think cleaning your windows. Lithium battery storage adds no more fire hazard than the furnace in your home and whatever you're trying to talk about with silicone carbide is just that...whatever. Here is where you minions always stay on script and go sideways... Anything having to do with clean energy of course has to be because we're all concerned with saving the planet. There is a lot of validity to that but adding solar panels is also a cost benefit to the homeowner with typical break even on the investment in 6 - 10 years then after that, it's 'free' electricity. It add's value to the home for resale and yes, it does help the environment. Is that a bad thing?
