But it's not the government's information to sit on, is it? It wasn't hidden. It's not like a government lab was doing research and came to a result and had to decide whether to publish or not. It's publicly available information from multiple research organizations compiled over decades. It's neither new nor timely. The medical community knows. OBGYNs know. They've been advising pregnant patients on how and when to use acetaminophen for a loooong time. The question--and why people are reacting to this scenario--is why did this government jump on a loose association that the medical world is already well aware of and decide to put on a public show about it? Why insert themselves in this process at this moment? They're bringing nothing to the table. Is it pure attention seeking behavior? Again this is a man who literally can't even pronounce acetaminophen--has clearly never read or said the word in his life. What motivates such a demonstrably ignorant person to go on TV and start dispensing medical advice? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DT7Scg2okMs It's certainly not altruism or conscience. If this government wanted to warn Americans about definitive, scientifically established threats that we can mitigate through behavioral changes, boy do they have options. But that's clearly not the goal.2 points

The thing that bothers me is while this was going on right leaning supporters by the billion and even a lot of moderate left supporters were screaming at these guys saying if you do this and you open that door then somebody else that you don't approve of will walk through it next and you won't like the results Well....... And it applies again to the censorship, the lawfare, and all the other scumball moves they pulled. And now they're furious that we were right and it was a bad thing to do and it is being used against them and now republicans don't care because they know that the democrats will do it if they get a chance and it might as well be a level playing field2 points

Carney government quietly dropped more U.S. counter-tariffs than advertised | CBC News The federal government quietly removed more counter-tariffs on American goods than initially advertised, according to an order-in-council published online. The notice published last month indicates that, with the exception of sectoral tariffs for the steel, aluminum and auto industries, all Canadian retaliatory tariffs have been removed โ in apparent contradiction to what the prime minister had said about the decision. So he lied. Again. Elbows down, pants as well. He might as well wear a dog collar with a gold pin of trump on it.1 point

Google admits censorship under Biden, YouTube welcomes back MAGA For those who thought somehow Kimmel was the first example of gov't censorship... nopers. From covid issues to biden's laptop the feds have censored the media MANY times, and mostly to craft a political narrative. They call whatever they don't like 'misinformation' and then ban whomever said it. Biden's laptop wasn't real, it was 'misinformation'. Concerns about the wuhan lab weren't real, they were 'misinformation'. Right up until it all turned out to be legit. According to the big socail media companies they faced a lot of pressure to ban or demonetize a lot of other people as well. The democrats first weaponized the office of the president and the white house to censor media companies that were saying things they didn't like. It's a little late now for democrats to complain about free speech issues1 point

Nobody expects women to read the latest medical journals and interpret the studies. And surely nobody expects our dim POTUS to read medical studies--and indeed, clearly, he'd never read the word "acetaminophen" before deciding to offer medical advice on it's usage. Women get that guidance from their doctors. It's standard guidance in prenatal care--inclusive of proper detail and nuance. Go to your medicine cabinet, take out a bottle, look at the dosage and it will tell you right there to talk to your doctor if pregnant. Great damn advice. Unlike Trump's rambling, bumbling adventure into heterodox TV medicine. It's nuts. Never should have happened.1 point

There is still no good evidence that Tylenol causes autism. Thatโs what women should hear. The Swedes took 25 years worth of data from their country, virtually every singleton birth, to demonstrate that. The danger to Canada's security does not come from an unsearched box at the border but from the steady and unimpeded flow of spies and agitators from hostile foreign countries allowed to operate with impunity in Canada. It comes from the steady, relentless hacking and intrusions into our computer systems by places like China, Russia, North Korea and Iran. I had dinner last night with a senior director in Shared Services, and I put it to her that in my opinion, every federal government computer system is an absolute sieve, an open door for hostile foreign actors. She enthusiastically agreed, then went on to list the deficiencies of the cybersecurity there, the lack of money available, the lack of priority from the entirety of the government. And both of us agreed that everyone outside the government has even less protection. Like your power system? Pretty sure China can crash it any time they want, probably in a way that it won't come back up soon. Same for other utilities like water and gas, the ATM network, maybe even the banks' internal computers. That's coming in the future. That and exploding drones will be the new way of war. And what are we doing about it all? Virtually nothing. It's not a priority. We'd rather send billions on a gun buyback even the Liberals know is a waste of time, and billions abroad to combat climate change and help teach countries gender neutral rice farming. Not to mention helping fill the personal bank accounts of Hamas and Fatah leaders and help them buy weapons.1 point

The Charter itself, if properly interpreted by unbiased people, isn't so very bad. The problem is that's not who gets to interpret it. The problem with the Charter starts in law school. How do you get into law school in Canada? Good marks in high school? Sure, as a base. But not nearly enough. Everyone has that. No, the important part is the personal statements, ie, the letter you write "Why I want to be a lawyer", as well as extra-curricular activities and volunteer work. They're looking for a certain kind of person - someone who is involved in antiracism, say, involved in left-wing politics, volunteers at immigrant support networks, goes to Africa to drill for water, is deeply committed to reconciliation and settling treaties. And, of course, above all else, if you can demonstrate you're anything but a straight white male, you get more points. The more 'ethnic' you are, the more you can talk about your 'life experience' of being oppressed by racism and discrimination, the more you can demonstrate your resentment towards Canada and its society, the better. In other words, they want to know that you're one of them. So the law schools, who have long screened who gets hired, also screen who gets accepted as a student. Then the left-wing social activists who make up its professariate will teach those students about social justice and advocacy and activism from a legal standpoint. And every spring another troop of social justice lawyers will march out into the world. And how do you get to be a judge in Canada? You conform to the left-wing social justice beliefs of Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party. Almost every judge appointed in the last ten years has been appointed first and foremost due to their demonstrated adherence to the Trudeau vision. Of course, it also hugely helps if you're not a straight white male. So you take a group already pre-screened for left-wing social activism, further screen them in university, take the worst of them and make them judges, and then promote the worst of those judges up to higher levels. That's our judicial system. These are the people interpreting the Charter.1 point

Enough are boycotting that it's costing the US billions, much of which is being spent here instead. So mount a public shaming campaign and target the traitors that refuse to get with the program. Punishing everyone else by making them pay more and causing a recession as a result is nuts. Look at you people, pleading to pay more taxes to Ottawa while it forces you to do things that just add more pain. Am I supposed to believe you're humiliating yourselves like this over some sense that you were lied to - that you should have been kept in some loop? Grow up. Again, why donโt the bodies advising clinicians agree with you? Just answer that question. Iโm not sure you understand the weight doctors attach to such statements. Do you really think obstetricians are going to risk their careers and their patientsโ welfare just to argue with some politician? The people advising these specialists have looked very carefully at the evidence you cite and are not convinced by it because itโs not good evidence. The flaws in the research are obvious even to me. The Swedish study is the best and it found no significant effect from Tylenol. And I suggest you look at the risks incurred with other medications as well. For example, no pregnant woman should be taking NSAIDS after 20 weeks. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/health-canada-pushes-back-trump-tylenol-1.7642192 https://www.cbc.ca/radio/frontburner/autism-and-tylenol-what-the-science-says-1.7641821 https://recalls-rappels.canada.ca/en/alert-recall/acetaminophen-recommended-treatment-fever-and-pain-during-pregnancy1 point

Been a CFL fan since I was a little kid. Saw many greats play the game. Always enjoyed the unpredictability of how any team could win any game at any time. Even if we had TWO Roughriders. Pedantry is not a bad idea in this debate. I prefer the term association to link just so we know weโre not necessarily taking about a cause here. Iโm afraid there is no good evidence yet that Tylenol increases the likelihood of autism. Again, I refer you to the recent statement from the president of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology which is fairly explicit. Bear in mind that many of the alternatives to Tylenol come with their own risks.1 point

The bottom line is that most doctors responsible for actually treating patients have not changed their views on this matter just because Trump made some ill-advised statements. Such views are reflected in the statements of their professional associations and represent the best advice for the public.1 point

Yes he did.And I'm sure these changes will go through without too much difficulty. But I've had a side gig for about 20 years where I send a lot of medium sized parcels across North America. I almost always used CPC. The few times I used private delivery they were ridiculously expensive and often incompetent (untrained min. wage workers) Parcel delivery will continue to rise and CPC should concentrate there. Now we need to raise the CPP age to 67. I woulld do it in 2 steps- up to 66 in 2 years and up to 67 3 years later.1 point

Don't read too much, it screws up the narrative... ๐๐๐ Tylenol did share a post in March 2017 that read, in part, "We actually don't recommend using any of our products while pregnant." However, Tylenol maker Kenvue provided additional context to Snopes via email. The company said, in part, that it does not "make recommendations on taking any medications in pregnancy because that is the job of a healthcare provider." It also described the "consumer response" featured in the post as "incomplete," saying it didn't reflect its full guidance on the safe use of Tylenol. The company reiterated that acetaminophen remains safe for women to take as needed during pregnancy, which is in line with other medical experts' recommendations. Kenvue's full statement is as follows:1 point

From the article you quote: In my own community, we saw more cases diagnosed when a specialist arrived who had expertise in diagnosing the disorder. In the US paediatricians are making more diagnoses in girls and non-white children than they used to as well. To summarize, we have seen a huge rise in diagnosis of the condition. Much of this is down to increased awareness of it and changed criteria to diagnose it. Is there also a fundamental rise in autism itself? The jury is still out on that.1 point
-
Iโm saying I donโt know. It can be a subtle diagnosis at the edge of spectrum. Thereโs no question many of those people would not have been classified as autistic thirty years ago. If you have specialists with expertise in diagnosing a disorder, your rates will generally rise.1 point

I agree that there will not be any disruption to the delivery of the mail with these changes. I do challenge you on the private delivery services being poor due to untrained min wage employees. I worked for up to 50 years and paid into CPP, why should I not get it at 65?? Why make people work extra years?? If you have a real reason then start another topic about this.-1 points

And that assumes that inflation never takes off again and we don't see rising interest rates. And someday that's going to happen.
