  2. House Nears Vote on Epstein Files as White House Calls Effort ‘Hostile Act’ A bipartisan group of House lawmakers is pushing to force a vote on releasing all federal files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, despite fierce opposition from the Trump administration and GOP leadership. Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., filed a discharge petition Tuesday that would compel the Justice Department to release all unclassified Epstein investigation materials within 30 days. The rare procedural move allows lawmakers to bypass House leadership and force a floor vote if they secure 218 signatures. …The White House warned Tuesday that supporting the petition would be viewed as “a very hostile act to the administration,” while House Speaker Mike Johnson called Massie’s efforts “meaningless.” https://thedeepdive.ca/house-nears-vote-on-epstein-files-as-white-house-calls-effort-hostile-act/

  5. There's still wood but the mills, holy shit. One modernized and cut workforce in half, another kist did and cut the workforce from 350+ to around 70 ppl. Used to be 350 loads of logs a day headed out of town for other mills, there's still 100 -120. But they 'centralized' the gas, phone, cable, forestry and hydro workers to deliver shitty service for higher prices - that hurt big too. But the Band Offices reopened closed hatcheries around here and that was 4 years ago. Guess what? Enjoy the fish! From what I've seen I think if you build up to a population of 10,000 towns become pretty much self sustaining. But you have a point, the fish and the wood and the mines don't last forever. Albertans look at your future FFS, We're not Voyager's Kazon that strip mine a planet and just fly off to conquer and strip mine the next one.

  6. PP is a salesman like all politicians. In the real world the answers are never easy. Give us the hard truth you propose. Without a temporary foreign worker program, who is going to work in the the nursing homes, clean my house or make my sub sandwich and how much more is it going to cost if indeed somebody is prepared to do it? Before the recent group of foreign workers arrived our fast food restaurants were working severely reduced hours. Some were closed. In my town I see very few young Canadian adults around. Are you telling us Atlantic Canadians to move to where? Southern Ontario? Red Deer? I wouldn’t even dare suggest a southern BC city option.

  7. You've avoided the question the last few times I've asked.... You're a Trump supporter of his policies and schtick but have an issue with our economy data that is a direct result of his trade policy, or that Carney hasn't been able to get us a no tariff deal with him yet. You see no conflict of argument there?

  10. If you went through the trouble of looking that up, why didn't you just look for facts instead of the sarcasm? There were approximately 203,028 electric vehicles (EVs) in British Columbia as of July 2025, with about 80% of these being in the Lower Mainland/Metro Vancouver region, translating to roughly 160,000-163,000 EVs in the area, though a specific, up-to-date figure for Metro Vancouver was not readily available. The number of EVs is rapidly growing; for example, the province had over 150,000 EVs as of January 2024, and the Metro Vancouver region saw EVs account for 23% of new vehicle sales in 2024.

  13. And according to you those cartels are not violent, they have not killed or murdered any US citizens, let alone any other nations citizens....Mexican cartels are marked as the most violent on the planet....then add on to this the over 108,000 Americans that have been killed due to consumption of drugs...These guys deserve a dirt nap more than anyone on the planet right now...And some how we are suppose to give a crap about 11 guys in a boat....These cartels are like cockroaches and are spreading across north American because of our weak government and laws, and these terrorist are thriving in billion of dollars...You have to ask yourself how these guys rate any kind of pass....Your and mine country have a major drug crises which needs to be addressed....it is time for another war on drugs, and this time we take it to those drug nations who profit from our peoples deaths....... https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/mexico-americans-killed-1.5348041 https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/article/the-staggering-death-toll-of-mexicos-drug-war/

  14. They have been declared terrorist long before they were attacking Israel or US interests in the area....this conflict is only growing bigger. But the fact remains they have been declared a terrorist group and can be targeted at any time by any means...And the US is not ther only nation to drop stuff on them, the British, US , Israelis , French have all had a go at these guys, along with a long list of coalition members that have provided anti missiles ships in protection of Israel...My point is, they have been declared a terrorist group, and that process is a long one, like you pointed out not everyone can be listed as a terrorist, so precautions have been taken....same precautions as the US and Canada took before labeling 7 cartels terrorist groups..

  16. IS the US at war with houtis in Yemen ? The US declared them to be terrorist organization, long ago... and US military forces have been bombing the crap out of them....with bombs and missiles.....I am having difficulties finding the difference between killing any terrorist group by any means...You say drug dealers are not terrorist, and yet, some how your president and my Prime Minister declared 7 drug cartels terrorist groups...despite all the legal advice they would have needed to take before such a declaration... I've given you many examples of US military forces being used to kill foreign terrorist on foreign soil, and yet your finding it hard to imagine your country has been doing this for decades...the fact that my country has being doing it since the war on terror started....along with most western nations....plenty of examples on goggle...all of them have been toughly vetted, by legal departments, inter national law, vetted through defense department, intel etc... all of this and much more happens before the military get the green lite to target someone or something.... this just does happen with a phone call from trump wanting to blow something up....

I think all politics is insane, and the left has more than it's share of crazies as well, your saying that everyone is afraid of what Mega might do if they bring up charges.... 20. Right? Carney: - Moves his business to the US - Drops tariffs on demand when trump tells him to - increases military spending comittments on command - Holds "executive order" signing press conferences (OIC's in our case) just like trump - Praises trump lavishly and embarrassingly so at G7 - Is praised by trump for being a 'good boy' - Invites an actual trump strategist to lecture cabinet LEFTS VERDICT: Carney is playing 4d chess in an effort to get into trump's head and lure him into a false sense of security and our crashing economy is all part of the trap carney will spring at any moment now. Polievre: - Uses slogan "canada first". LEFT'S VERDICT: MAPLE MAGA!!!! DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE!!!!!!

  25. Of course there isn't. But a LOT of young people won't take them. Only in the last year the local Subway found local kids. The TFWs were here for years and half them are now landed. Local teen won't mow lawns for ONLY $20. My Dad makes $40 hr. Told the kid these tiny city lots only take you 20 minutes, that is $60 an hour. Must still be busy scratching his head, never came back since June. This summer the kids are taking those jobs the talk on TV about it helps scare them into it. Wendys ot nothing. Like what is it now $17 something minimum? Ot ZERO. Choose. ( I have 2 friends with boys that graduated this year and last that just will not even look for work. Parents scared to boot them out thinking they'll end up street druggies Funny that all the girls are working. )

The ability to communicate with submerged submarines is very limited so data links needed for proper oversight I can’t see us allowing aan AI powered sub just sail wherever it feels like sailing and kill whoever it feels like killing Especially when talking about subs with ballistic and cruise missile launch capabilities.

  30. Im not going to have this conversation with you....do some research what do you think our JTF guys do all day...they kill bad guys in many different countries, countries we are not at war with, countries that have governments of their own...who do you think authorizes those killings , i can tell you it is much higher than DND.... The facts are they were terrorist, as the US president declared them to be any member working for the cartels are Terrorists... Canada has labeled some of the Cartel networks as terrorist, yes your Mark Carney did that early in his negotiations with trump in regards to the border... My lack of respect for the law....first they are not my laws, i had nothing to do with creating them....second, do some research before flapping your gums and accusing me of something obviously you don't know nothing about...Most western nations use their SF units to kill terrorist, for the last couple of decades, don't tell me you cant find one example...Who kill Osama bin ladin, was he declared a terrorist....yes he was, did he have his day in court, who authorized that killing...the US president did....Do you really think trump is going to jail for this....do you think he is the first President to order a military strike on terrorist...how many times did the US media release footage of the US presidents and staff watching in real time operations like killing of terrorist... check out 5.44 and tell me there is no war on terror, "WE will come after you and find you" https://www.npr.org/2022/08/05/1115413454/biden-trump-obama-speeches-terrorist-leaders https://georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/infocus/achievement/chap1-nrn.html Here is one about our own JTF, do some research on the guy that made that shot, tell me killing terrorist is not legal, because this guy killed a lot of them...Just because you don't see much of this in the media does not mean it does not happen...PS that guy has recorded over 200 kills welcome to the war on terror....Yes this guy served in OUR military, and he is not alone there are hundreds of soldiers just like him that have put an end to terrorist with out a court document, but rather a mission authorized by the highest level of government... https://sofrep.com/news/sofrep-exclusive-inside-story-canadas-jtf2-record-breaking-sniper-kill/

  31. I saw Rempel trying to defend this populist move on Power and Politics the other day. Her heart wasn’t really in it, especially after Cochrane actually presented real world examples of Canadian workers being very hard to find in outback Canadian locales like his own province of NL which I can confirm right the way through the social spectrum. From Tim Hortons to the GP clinic we would be royally screwed out here without foreigners. They do the work. Meanwhile my taxes pay for a ‘local’ med school that supplies doctors exclusively for the city - apparently wifi not good enough here plus so much call sucks. Indeed, some of these precious darlings come with a long list of what they won’t do out in the sticks. Do you want us all to move to a shanty town around Toronto? Banlieue might sound better until you see it. If PP wants to MODIFY the program, fair enough, but he should do his homework first. National economic change needs to be carefully considered, sensitive to regional differences, and gradual. Do I have to say that?

  32. Osama bin ladin...how did he end up dead....who killed him and who authorized that mission, he was Americas most wanted terrorist for a long time, wanted dead or alive...the list is endless... No they don't, but your president declared them terrorist which open up a whole new bag of options to target these guys... your an American FFS do some of your own research...American SF forces have been killing terrorist for decades now...are you suggesting they were wrong...
    1 point
  33. Are you saying that NO US president has ordered the deaths of terrorist, what happens to Osama bin laden...did he have a court date.... Yes they are , however it has already been discussed that cartels were now classified as terrorist groups , making them legitimate targets...Do you really think your military would not have researched the targets before engaging...i mean come on... Your right i don't know trump, buy don't think for one second he is the first President to have ordered the killing of terrorist... The US is involved in the war on terror, these guys are terrorist....you don't have to be at war to kill terrorist...why is that so hard to acknowledge...the US is not the only country that does this...

  35. Have fun making your kid work picking strawberries. Or working at Wendys. And if you even hear of a TFW making paid less tan a citizen YOU call the labour board. They're not only breaking the law they're driving every workers wages down. PP only says that to rage bait and you know damn well he wouldn't spend a nickel to investigate or enforce labour laws. Part of your "problem" is young people raised here have enough pride not to demean themselves by working for less than someone else and not enough sense to figure out why it's called a J-O-B and lots of them suck. That was a former supervisors tale: sure I'll hire a kid with2 years at McDonalds over one with the training an no work experience. They fully know why jobs aren't spelled f-u-n and how to eat shit from a Boss.

  36. Ontario is the real economic player in Canada, with the population, tech, industry, minerals, and even energy. Ontario is 40% of Canada’s economy. Quebec has a more diverse economy than Alberta and is hydro power rich. BC and Alberta are also resource rich. Alberta is an oil powerhouse but it’s expensive to extract tar oil, so Alberta’s fortunes rise and fall with the price of oil. Saskatchewan is a breadbasket and potash powerhouse. The territories are full of resource wealth. The Maritimes have oil and fisheries. Canada is all potential and full of wealth, but the people are coming and everyone wants a piece. Canada is getting to a size where it will have the economy of scale to do just about everything affordably in-house. It’s interesting to see Canada striking resource/trade deals right now. A sense of urgency on internal trade, infrastructure and finding new markets.

  37. The letter is below. There's nothing controversial in the letter. The majority of Liberal MP's who didn't sign this letter are vile cowards worried more about votes and backlash from antisemites than protecting Jewish minorities in this country from hatred and violence. They've turned their backs on the Jewish community. The Liberal Party has no honour or integrity or courage and don't represent Canadian values or liberal democratic values. They prove it time and again. They're pandering to hateful antisemites FFS. How can people keep voting for a party unwilling to defend our basic democratic values when it's politically inconvenient to them? This is a pretty big story IMO.

  40. That’s how it’s done. The submarine contenders were narrowed down to 2 finalists and they’ll be visiting the Korean facilities soon. No, you’re just so extremely biased you can’t discern reality. Lets just recap that they’ve held numerous full court press conferences on the international stage to unveil these military spending initiatives, announced by the PM himself while standing beside foreign leaders and citing very specific measures and hard numbers, and have reinforced and repeated those statements in virtually every public appearance. Sure, Governments don’t always keep all of their promises but most people understand that they sure wouldn’t ever make such a public commitment to the public and to other heads of state central to their entire agenda if they had no intention of following through. Most people understand the promises they walk away from are the ones that are vague, brief, distanced from the PM and senior cabinet members, and rarely mentioned in public But if you’re someone who believes every single member of the liberal party and anyone who’s voted for them boils and eats babies while raping their own grandmother then there’s no convincing you.

  45. The problem right now for Canada is that the Canadian card is only articulated in superficial terms. I don’t think most Canadians know what the general direction of Canada has been or what the country’s core values were or even should be. That’s a problem. Our own federal Liberal government stopped asserting Canada’s cultural roots and decided that being Canadian means having a big expensive government that makes decisions for how people should think and live, and also decided that the population should stop reproducing itself and rely on immigration for the country’s survival. It brought us promotion of non-traditional families and assisted suicide, shaming of the country as settler colonial, and an anti-resource development philosophy that has handcuffed the sectors with the most potential.
