TBH, the US will protect us, even if it's just because they don't want someone else's army on the 49th. We just shouldn't take advantage of them like that though. It's like they're our daddy and we refuse to grow up.2 points

Concessions on both sides are typical of negotiations, and generally not referred to as folding. 'another all "p**ss & wind" semi-politician' - uninformed and bias comment knowing we have no idea of the discussion details or what the final deal will look like.2 points

What do you think the best strategy would have been, knowing the guy across the table has a better hand and knowing thousands of Canadian jobs need resolution to a trade deal to move forward?2 points

White liberals hate themselves. They're filled with guilt. They compare themselves to perfection rather than every other civilization ever. They want nothing short of the destruction of Western civilization. White liberals mean well, but are among the least-wise humans to ever exist. They're hopelessly self-destruction. They can't stomach the tough and sometimes brutal decisions it takes to survive in the natural world we live in. Their ideas are utopian and idealistic, they don't live in the realm of reality. And they certainly don't bother to think about the longterm consequences of the idea they implement. The path to evil is paved with good intentions.2 points

Trump ends all U.S. trade talks with Canada over digital services tax FAAAACK!!! So much for Carney being able to "handle trump". Carney was counting on that money too. So if he caves and cancels the tax he will look weak as hell and have an even bigger deficit. Not to mention the fact that the Canadian news producers won't like it. And if he tries to keep it trump won't talk trade with him so we keep our tariffs and lose more jobs Anyone who voted for this a****** thinking he somehow could handle trump deserves to be dipped in Puppy Chow and thrown to a pack of rabid poodles.1 point

Minister of Finance and National Revenue, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, announced today that Canada would rescind the Digital Services Tax (DST) in anticipation of a mutually beneficial comprehensive trade arrangement with the United States. Consistent with this action, Prime Minister Carney and President Trump have agreed that parties will resume negotiations with a view towards agreeing on a deal by July 21, 2025. Personally I think we should have held out. Trump would have blinked. But I suspect some form of the digital services tax will resurface in every country, including the US, at some point.1 point

My comment about Carney having to deal with a child has nothing to do with seeing our "country go down a drain". He's dealing with a someone who acts like a petulant child... that's obvious. I'm not going down the vaxx road but 100% agree that Trudeau was a failure. Would I have voted for him if in fact he chose not to resign...not a freaking chance. Would I have voted for PP...no I wouldn't have. Disagree that Canada isn't putting up a fight. We just had an election 2 months ago and the Canadian people have spoken...they want the liberals to stay in power with Carney running the show. Where that gets us....who knows, but I'm rooting for him.1 point

Too bad your TWEET is NOT evidence that any law was broken. Also SHAMEFUL that the DoJ is LEAKING the existence of an FBI investigation to TAR a politician in violation of what WAS DoJ policy against using the power of government to LIBEL ANYONE BEFORE an INDICTMENT. Of course, there are NO BOUNDARIES in the Trump admin based on JUSTICE nor ILLEGALLY USING THE DoJ for POLITICS.1 point

Trump said, there were no more negotiations. We Canadians, and therefore the whole world, was fully aware of the DST last year when it was announced. Trump just used it now for reasons only he is privy to. You and I do not know what is going on or being said behind closed doors.1 point

Nice theory, but we all know how grants are awarded. And it has nothing to do with talent or ability or creating a 'thriving arts scene'. It's who you know and suck up to. It's a very incestuous relationship among artists/writers/musicians who form cliques within and outside government, rotating in and out, approving of each other's works while disparaging those they don't like. How many great writers or artists have emerged from this in the last twenty or thirty years? We don't fund youth sports to get pro athletes. We fund them because it's in the national interest to encourage youth to be physically active. How is it in the national interest to produce artists virtually no one will ever hear of, writers almost no one will ever read, TV shows almost no one will ever watch?1 point

I think it was the wise thing to do. The petulant child across the table has a better hand and more money in his pocket. Whether he was bluffing or not Canada needs resolution to a deal quicker than the US does. Give the child a win to build him up. Dollars were minimal in the grand scheme of things, but agree this will resurface at some point. Until then, need to get this behind us for clarity in the industries that affect a lot of Canadian workers.1 point

Admitting past mistakes or bad policies is not self-hate. And while I didn't like Trudeau, a lot of the economic problems were down to the pandemic and its after-effects that caused the same problems we had in all the other developed countries. Yes, too much immigration too fast was a mistake, and we need to invest a lot in our industries to get our productivity up. Look around and you'll see other countries facing the same problems. Over all, we're not doing much worse or better than most. And rent and food inflation are in large part spurred by pure greed. But to say "Canada's broken' is instilling self-hate and division and not helping anyone, except the self serving politicians saying it. MSM? You're not naive enough to get all your news from social media, I hope for your sake.1 point

That’s some selective story telling by Lilley who is shameless propagandist. You’ll recall TRUMP paused and walked back tariffs on us first, and did so multiple times. But you are also missing this:: Canada retaliates against U.S. steel imports after Trump terminates trade talks. The office of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. But late Friday, Canada retaliated against the U.S. by imposing a quota on some steel imports and a 50% surcharge for imports that exceed the quota. Canada's finance minister said the government was acting to protect its industry from "unjust U.S. tariffs." Canada's government said it "remains prepared to take additional steps as needed." https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna215608 That’s not because of Trump that’s to keep PP and the conservatives onside. And our immigration policy is still pretty different from Trump’s. He is doing a lot of very right wing things to keep their support, even things conservatives couldn’t get away with. Carney has been very clear that the solution is to pivot our economy away from the US. He’s repeatedly pointed to the fact that Trump is unstable and his word is worthless, you manage him as best you can, but the solution is to diversify away from the US. And that’s what he’s been doing with great success, Canada and Europe have now formed the “No Homers Club” with USA shut out As a correction Carney didn’t say open up the free trade agreement now, he said he wants to begin a new comprehensive trade and security framework and that’s what they’re discussing now. The CUSMA renegotiation would then be shaped by that framework On the 51st state Trump’s comments have changed since Carney took office by the way. Trump went from calling the PM governor and saying he was going to use economic force to force Canada to join the US to simply saying he thinks it would be a good idea for Canadians to choose joining USA for themselves. Carney had explicitly said nobody can control Trump’s mouth least of all Trump so we need to move past that and not be distracted. What exactly do you think PP would have done differently?1 point

Not sure how you came to that conclusion, if i had given up i would not be posting my concerns here at all, or having this discussion with you......And from this side of the fence, the vast majority of Canadians have sat down in their corners to busy to be distract by any issue of our security apparatus...when it is they, that have let it slide into being a sh1t show...but your response is almost typical of any Canadian response, refuse to take any responsibility, and instead deflect and point fingers at someone else...pointing at the very heart of the issue the military it self... Canadian public have been sitting down with their hands over their mouths for decades...when soldiers were visiting food banks, when soldiers were homeless, when members were operating equipment their grandfathers operated, when Members were dying in combat because our equipment was shit, THEY were silent...instead what they did do was got behind our culture was toxic, DEI took hold of promotions and appointments, LGBTQ issues aslo were forced on them , to the point we put tampons into men's washrooms...pink hair, scruffy beards, men dressing like women, women dressing up as men, pronouns were now part of life...cancellations or false accusations were rampant this is what the Canadian public demanded and what we have today....they have turned a once proud warrior culture into a bag of hammers.... Just once in my life time i would like to see government / Canadians take some pride in something involved in our security apparatus...I've spent my entire career 35 years going to the world's sh#t holes enforcing our foreign policy....going to funerals of the bravest Canadian i know, most of their deaths directly tied to sh1tty equipment...writing my MP's and begging for new modern equipment, talking to any government official who came over for a photo op and telling them the same thing....being told by our government i could not talk to the public while in uniform...i spent my entire second tour Afghanistan on this very forum telling Canadians as much as i could as to what was going on...after being told it could end my career...So much for sitting down in a chair and doing nothing...before i finish i'd like to know what you have down, it must have dwarfed my contributions as you seem to look down on them with some sort of disdain...... I'm not posting here to argue with you, nor belittle you in some way...i'm posting here because i've seen the results of our military struggling for funding, for decades upon decades...and the results for the most part is flagged draped caskets filled with kids that bought into the myth that Canada will have our backs...when we needed them.... For decades i prayed , wished, hoped Canadian would one day stand up and say enough is enough....and while today most Canadians agree that our military needs some infusion of cash....the problem is much deeper than that, almost all of our equipment needs to be replaced, our infrastructure is crumbling at our feet, and Canadians can't for the life of them figure out why military people are leaving in droves... And here you are right now somehow inferring that this is my fault...and it is the military that has failed you....i don't think so...we have been here all the time, Canadians need to grow a set and either shut down our military, and give our sovereignty to someone else , or STFU and do what is needed to defend ourselves...1 point

No I meant internally. I'm sure Joe did more to do that in Canada than trump has, if anything trump has tried to pull us together. I think that Canada will eventually break up. I think they will come a point when the west is big enough and strong enough to decide that it's time to stand on its own and they will be fed up with the east telling them how to live. But more importantly I think trudeau turned one Canadian against the other. The sense of belonging to a larger Canada largely evaporated under his term. It flared to life for like 5 seconds when trump threatened us and now it's gone again. Anyone who's voted liberal in the last 10 years unfortunately voted for the separation of Canada given time and that's not trump's fault1 point

So what you're saying is you don't know anything about guns, but because you own one gun or did at some point in the past you feel knowledgeable enough to speak on the subject intelligently. This by having admittedly low understanding of the subject. So you weren't aware that you had to have knowledge of a subject before you could have an intelligent opinion regarding laws with regards to that subject. Muh Feels is good enough eh? As it turns out you don't actually need any knowledge at all with regards to firearms in order to support laws against them. You just need to be stupid. However in my experience that tends to be those on the left more than on the right. The police have come out against the latest gun laws and gun bans and gun collections, absolutely no criminal expert has ever suggested that they would make any difference whatsoever, and the fiscal experts have pointed out is going to be a lot more expensive then the liberals have suggested and question whether that's intelligent at a time that we are already significantly over budget given the fact that nobody thinks it's going to help. But yeah, you can ignore the science and the experts and go with muh feels if that's the kind of person you are, sure.1 point

It’s not wrong, everything I said about MAGA is correct amd Im willing to acknowledge that it applies to many/most democrats as well. As for everything else, the TL;DR is that 1) EU and UK already have a similar tax 2) it is a Canadian transaction conducted in Canadian dollars with Canadian consumers via Canadian bank accounts. The mere fact that Canada can tax these transactions is self-evident 3) The fact that US firms currently make up the majority of this second is irrelevant, they are competing o tue same terms as Canadian businesses in this space 4) Canada doesn’t have to eat the cost of this tax which they clearly communicated years in advance, nor should it. The government of Canada makes Canadian laws, the government is sovereign and these companies are not equals with whom it has to compromise or offer concessions or obtain their consent. The laws are fair and they received ample notice and accommodations. We have a court system they can avail themselves of if they feel otherwise and unlike the US we truly have a fair and impartial judiciary. Why would Canada absorb costs that this industry could easily afford and were provided significant advance notice of? At tax time do you demand the IRS eat the cost of your taxes simply because you don’t feel like paying although you could easily? Do you do that with any of your other bills? 5) what you don’t understand is that taxes are paid from gross revenue not net profits, meaning they can be offset with tax deductions, credits, write-offs, etc. It is not dishonest to discuss companies by gross earnings in fact EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) is one of the most common ways to value a company. 6) Yes any country can object to some domestic policy of another country and take some action in response. Canada could object to the way USA treats some endangered species on the Gulf of Mexico or the way we think USA treats gay or black people or whatever. And we could announce some punitive action as a result. That doesn’t mean it’s legitimate or appropriate for is to do so.1 point

Any further proof needed that Carney's dealing with a complete 1diot? The tax has been public knowledge for years, the EU even has the same policy, which Trump mentions, yet the whiney Donnie Depends uses any petty excuse whatsoever to f*ck over Canada. First of all, nobody will want to do a security agreement with NATO’s largest deadbeat. Second, the European are embroiled by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. They do not have the capability to challenge American air dominance or naval supremacy. These are the two main requirements for amphibious operations. Even the Chinese within their own coast line and amassing the military capacity to invade Taiwan for 50 years have not dared to invade. What makes you think Canada and the Euro deadbeat stand a chance against the US? By the way, we’re already there. We have military bases and airfields already on the island! You and the Euro would be invading a heavily defended US territory. Greenland was built as a defensive bulwark against Russian/Chinese air and missile threat. Canada and Greenland are defacto US unincorporated territory. Putting up any meaningful military resistance is a pipe dream. You don’t have the means or the willingness to do so. Why else is your military spending including the Europeans so abysmally low?1 point

Part two: Just The News FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino alleged Tuesday that the bureau's prior leadership "chose to play politics" and hide evidence from the American people of a Chinese plot to hijack the 2020 U.S. election with fake mail-in ballots for Joe Biden. The two FBI leaders' statement came a week after Just the News reported Patel turned over to Congress earlier this month a long-hidden intelligence report raising concerns that China had mass-produced fake U.S. driver's licenses to carry out a scheme to swing the 2020 election to Biden with fake mail-in ballots. Patel located the evidence based on information that Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, got from whistleblowers and forwarded to the FBI, officials said. Patel and Bongino said Tuesday they are committed to getting Grassley and the American public more evidence about the plot and the failure to fully investigate it. “Based on our continued review and production of FBI documents related to the CCP’s plot to interfere in the 2020 U.S. Presidential election, previous FBI leadership chose to play politics and withhold key information from the American people – exposing the weaponization of law enforcement for political purposes during the height of the 2020 election season," Patel and Bongibo said in statement given to Just the News. "Thanks to the great Oversight work of Chairman Grassley, the information the old FBI regime covered up will now be released to the public," they added. "This FBI leadership team will continue keeping our promise of aggressive transparency and working around the clock to fix the underlying problems to restore the FBI to the trusted institution the American people deserve." The newly declassified intelligence reports from August 2020 weren’t corroborated or fully investigated and instead were recalled from intelligence agencies at about the time that then-FBI Director Chris Wray testified there were no known plots of foreign interference ahead of the 2020 election in which Biden defeated Donald Trump, officials told Just the News. When they were recalled, FBI officials asked fellow spy agencies to destroy their copies of the intelligence report, which included detailed information from a cooperating confidential human source. “This report was recalled in order to re-interview the source. Recipients should destroy all copies of the original report and remove the original report from all computer holdings,” the recall notice obtained by Just the News stated. The subject line of the FBI intelligence bulletin succinctly stated the potential nature of the alleged plot: “Chinese Government Production and Export of Fraudulent US Driver's Licenses to Chinese Sympathizers in the United States, in Order to Create Tens of Thousands of Fraudulent Mail-in Votes for US Presidential Candidate Joe Biden, in late August 2020 That said, the FBI bulletin provided significantly detailed information for agencies to investigate as leads to make sure the U.S. election wasn’t being hijacked by a foreign power seeking to exploit a sudden explosion in mail-in voting during the COVID-19 pandemic that struck earlier in 2020. “In late August 2020, the Chinese government had produced a large amount of fraudulent United States driver’s licenses that were secretly exported to the United States,” the report reads “The fraudulent driver's licenses would allow tens of thousands of Chinese students and immigrants sympathetic to the Chinese Communist Party to vote for U.S. presidential candidate USPER Joe Biden despite not being eligible to vote in the United States." "China had collected private US user data from millions of TikTok accounts, to include name, ID and address, which would allow the Chinese government to use real US persons' information to create the fraudulent driver's license,” the report continues. “The fraudulent driver’s licenses were to include true ID number and true address of US citizens, making them difficult to detect. China planned to use the fraudulent driver’s licenses to account for tens of thousands of mail-in votes.” ‐--------------‐-------------- This is why TikTok needs to be banned in the US.1 point
