Those people destroyed some of the most meaningful relationships in their lives over false CNN narratives. The King is our head of state. His function as King of Canada is completely separate from his function as King of the UK. It's clearly spelled out in our constitution. Perhaps you don't understand having a King is more than symbols. We have a Constitutional Monarchy which gives the King certain powers. He is there as an unelected monarch which is different than the American system, where the elected President is the head of state. Our King doesn't have to spend too much time thinking about politics while the President is a central political figure. Everything must be geared to politics. Because the King is also King of other countries that is actually an advantage, not a problem. It means we have a special relationship with those other countries. They are kind of sister or brother countries, or allies if you wish. If we were not a Constitutional Monarchy, I think there is a good chance we would already be part of the U.S. We might not be an independent country. Being a part of this Constitutional Monarchy does command a certain degree of respect from other countries.

We should clarify he was never in harper's cabinet during the financial crisis. He was the governor of the Bank of Canada and while the conservatives consulted him regularly he was technically independent. The Bank of Canada tends to do with the government tells it but they only meet once every week or two briefly in order to discuss the financial situation Harper played a huge role, but the real hero of the day was Jim flatterly the finance minister. Between the two of them they cooked up some unbelievably innovative and highly successful ways to address the crisis to the point where other countries frequently asked Canada about how they were doing it right in order to emulate them. Grippens....are gen 4 aircraft, might as well buy F-18 e/f if thats the route your going....The air force spent billions of dollars in testing and grippens place a distance 4th our of 5 Aircraft, one justin disqualified, two quit, leaving f-35 and gripen... F-35 was chosen by our air force for good reason....keeping the grippen for 40 years in not an option, F-35 is a gen 5 fighter and cheapest out there, with much more growth potential....want to buy european go with the euro fighter or french fighter....at much more cost...
