A lot of research will be impacted by this, and it's naive to think otherwise. An oppressive atmosphere has been created, and it goes against what I thought the US stood for.3 points

Says it right out loud. He will use the emergency powers to "build the economy" to take on the Americans. Let me remind everyone that at that time the libs will thoroughly control the senate. This guy is a freaking disaster. Canada will do HORRIBLY under this guy. And one 'use' he might pull is to declare that the election is being put off until 2026. That would be a very real possibility. He could theoretically do longer. That would allow him to get into power and arrange all kinds of goodies for his friends and scam the system for a year and a half, then if he loses he still walks away with lots of cash and some contacts he can use to make money later. The liberals continue to be the worst party in canadian history and people dont' see it. There's absolutely no comparison. The not withstanding clause was always intended to be used to deal with legislation where the government determines the charter created an unintended consequence, that's why it was put in there. HE'll be using it precisely as it was intended to be. It's been used many many times. That's the reason it's there. It's used in very specific cases which must be spelled out in detail, and it goes along with a bill through the usual process of scruitiny in both the house and the senate. The emergency powers act and the other emergency powers granted to the gov't are entirely different and we've already seen this gov't use them once unlawfully. You can't challenge them in court before they're used as you could a bill passing through parlaiment. You can't get an injunction to suspend their implementation pending a court challenge. So basically you're fine with the gov't setting aside the rights of Canadians at large for political gain as long as its the liberals because the notwithstanding clause exists. That's just pathetic.2 points

They haven't been silenced. They're just not being funded by A specific group, they are free to raise their own money from other groups and do the research and publish the results. They're saying we as a customer do not want to buy products that are like this. There is a ton of research they probably aren't interested in funding and never have been This would be like saying you are censoring Disney plus because you don't pay for a Disney Plus Membership. The last percentage of Liberal supporters in Canada MUST wake up and get informed on what is going on in Canada. Please. Please seek out interviews with Sam Cooper (Daniela Cambone has several good interviews with him, and other channels have also covered his investigation.) Read his book, "Willful Blindness". Chinese and Mexican cartels have taken over Canada and the Liberal party is heavily involved. This is fentanyl making and distribution and money laundering through Canada banks and casinos. The Liberal party knows. Trump knows. Polievre knows. If he "gets his security clearance" he has to sign an NDA that includes jail time if he ever talks about foreign interference. It's why he won't sign on to Trudeau's new security clearances. Once the Cons are elected, he will have access to all that information AND will be able to do something about it. This is why the Liberal party and the Lib-paid-for media have been hammering on security clearance. They NEED Polievre to sign it so he cannot ever do anything about what's been going on. You MUST inform yourselves of this issue, because if you continue to support THE MOST corrupt government in Canadian history, we are f&*ked. Wake. Up. A joint US-Canada organized crime unit will not bode well for Trudeau. I suspect this is what Trump really is after. He wants to know how deep the corruption runs and exactly how dangerous the China-owned Canadian government is to US interests. This is just the beginning. The jokes about annexing Canada have a real backbone and the China element is at the core of it. This is only going to snowball into something much bigger if Canada doesn't address this.1 point

This would not have to be a forced removal of people from the Gaza. The west would in effect be purchasing the Gaza. This would go a long way to ending the conflict in that area. I don't see any other way to stop the fighting originating in the Gaza strip. 1. It could be done by offering financial incentives. Every Palestinian who moves could be paid a certain amount of money. The money could come from the U.S., Canada, other countries, and the U.N. 2. The money could also involve spending billions of dollars to build apartments, and create jobs in the countries they settle in. 3. It seems Hamas cannot be eliminated in the present situation. However, moving them by offering financial incentive may provide a solution. This would mean it would not be compulsory but would be in effect purchasing the Gaza strip. So far nobody in the news media has mentioned the idea of paying billions of dollars to the Palestinians to make it feasible. Part of the payments would have to be used to build apartments and create jobs. All of the money would not be given to the Palestinians directly. Some money could be paid directly to the ones who actually move. Part of the money would have to be retained and only used for the purpose of building new apartments, infrastructure, creating jobs, and communities in the destination countries. At present Jordan and Egypt oppose moving them to their countries. But the financial benefits have not been negotiated. That is the missing key to this. Perhaps if there was billions of dollars on the table, they would be willing to take in the Palestinians. But there would need to be a way to ensure the money was used only for the relocation and building of the homes, infrastructure, and jobs for the Palestinians. Also, the payments to the ones who relocated would have to be ensured somehow. The money could not be just handed over to the countries they moved into.1 point

It's a massive overreaction from the left as usual. This is only about reducing waste which is something all Americans should be happy about. I wish we had a Canadian version of DOGE.1 point

Not a real thing. They are limiting the ideas that people are allowed to express because they include certain words or support certain ideas: that's censorship. Its' funny how here you're defining censorship in an extremely specific and narrow way, while elsewhere you're defining "concealing" in an extremely broad way. You define words according to how a given definition serves your ideology, which i'm pretty sure is exactly what you accuse others of doing in your dumbass rules.1 point

Will folks stop ingesting fast food during RFK's time? Probably not. Will there be less federal involvement in vaccines? probably. I prefer that folks take care of the former over the latter. 1. I'm not in the field, so I defer to the experts. Psychology and mental health medicine and general medicine is working through this as we type. 2. Not about the 5 year old, then but a 17 year old ? How do you know that contemporary approach to gender issues, from the medical community, is incorrect ? You seem to say so. 3. I didn't say you must. 4. Whether or not these things are happening doesn't necessarily bode poorly for what professionals and the common response might be. If people are overreacting to children making random statements about their gender, and getting medical people to make ill-considered responses then that could be abuse, and error and so on. It doesn't mean that the overall approach is sound, you need more evidence of what's happening. For that reason, I trust medical institutions for the most part. 5. By 17 they are for sure. This is a kind of slippery slope discussion: 3 years old, no but 17 yes... so what about 13. We may be arriving at an agreement point which is there's no one-size-fits-all solution. I would definitely say it's wrong to "affirm" a 3-year old in any formal sense, or to punish them for saying something like that at 3 also. They're 3. Dr. Erica Anderson (a trans woman) explained the process at length to Jesse Singal in his podcast and that's where I first heard about the process.1 point

Maybe watch this: You're repeating whatever you heard on CBC: "PP has no plans" "Slogans are not enough" Polievre has laid out very specific plans, he's doing interviews all over. They're not being covered by CBC and CTV, and he's likely not interviewing with them after that massive lie they cobbled together recently, which surprisingly, got someone fired. He just laid out a very specific plan to secure our North. You haven't noticed that every time he says what he's going to do about an issue, the Libs steal it? Did you think they came up with the idea of "Axing the Tax" on their own? HAHAHAHHAHA!1 point

Our country and system of government is a joke. Parliament is completely shut down, so that one political party can decide on who its next leader is going to be. Imagine Republicans shutting down congress while they decide on a leader. It’s so absurd.1 point

Mark Carney will march us straight into an American disaster. I can certainly see how his election could become the galvanizing event that triggers our annexation. Will people like yourself be pleading with Trump to come and save and liberate you from the horrors of Carney's globalist communist rule? After that Elon will come and dismantle our institutions and rid our state of all its corruption and waste presumably starting with the most visible sign of our leftist radical woke Marxist WEFtist dictatorship...our health system. It'll be off to a sports arena and interrogation for us evil lefties I guess. Or... We could just vote for PP and he'll make it all go away?1 point

Carney is just another left wing liberal deep state WEF globalist traitor to Canada. He has no love for Canada or Canadians just like the dictator in Ottawa who never had any love for Canada. A vote for this imbecile will be asking for more woke and continue to go broke. Kevin O'Leary is a businessman and Kevin knows more about what needs to be done to fix Canada up from it's current dilemma. Carney is just another left wing liberal fool who will never do what really needs to be done to try and make Canada great again. Want more government, more taxes and less freedom? The federal bureaucracy is less than 1% political patronage positions. Most are merit-based. And one thing trump has never yet learned is that the great superpower of the exectuve branch vs Congress is in the depth of professional expertise housed within the hundreds of agencies he oversees. Congress does not have thousands of policy experts and must rely on the executive branch for many details of policy-making. And just because he's cutting people and ending agencies by exective action doesn't mean he's eliminating the laws that those agencies were charged with enforcing. Propaganda is so effective. Billionaires paying millionaires to convince lowly schlubs that the billionaires and corporations are the good guys and that poor people and immigrants are the bad guys. Seeing grown adults debase themselves parroting the propaganda is the saddest indictment of humanity's failed capacity to learn. Of course it is. The EOs were largely theatrics. There is only so much policymaking that trump can do by just f*cking around within the bureaucracy with Elon musk without actually changing the laws. Making a law is hard and requires deftness and collaborate leadership that trump shows no evidence of possessing. It's the president's de facto job to lead legislative initiatives. The clock is ticking. He's got two years to get some laws passed before republicans likely lose complete control of Congress. Riiight. Well your sophistry and wishful thinking notwithstanding, most people aren't going to find that believable. But I do notice how you're not disagreeing with my actual point. Well, for example his rhetoric about sealing the border, mass deportations, lowering food prices, tax cuts for workers, protect medicare and social security.1 point
-
How many times do you need to be told to not believe Trump and Musk. They lie. Wasting money? Yeah, on things like providing oxygen to people who will die without it, providing food to starving people (currently, there’s $500 million worth of food that could go to waste because of the USAID pause), programs for nutrition, hygiene, toilets and access to clean water (which have a massive impact on TB and diarrheal diseases), TB clinics, HIV care, treatment and prevention to vulnerable children, international clinical drug trials … the list goes on and on. But you go on there! You own the Libs, while people die. It’s worth noting that the US is not the biggest giver to foreign aid as a percent of Gross National Income: Norway = 1.09% Sweden = 0.91% Germany = 0.79% Denmark = 0.74% UK = 0.58% France = 0.5% Canada = 0.38% US = 0.24%1 point

“Cutting government spending” is such an abstract concept that does not make plain what really is at risk. What are the concrete effects of Trump’s and Musk’s vandalism on USAID? People are dying because funding for their oxygen has been cut off Nearly $500 million in food could go to waste Global health will be severely affected: Programs for nutrition, hygiene, toilets and access to clean water (which have a massive impact on TB and diarrheal diseases) have been impacted TB clinics have been put at risk HIV care, treatment and prevention to vulnerable children, have been suspended Crucial international clinical drug trials have their funds frozen It will take a massive, concentrated effort to repair the damage done to the US global reputation. Yes, China and Russia are watching.1 point

We often see this with regards to this issue from the left. They both in equal amounts demand That they are acting in the interests of the children safety but also don't want any regulation that protects children safety. At the same time they want to pretend they are including the families wow simultaneously insisting that families should have no say. And meanwhile they insist that sex and gender are the same thing, except that sex and gender are also not the same thing depending on what we're discussing and then sex and gender are not actually a thing at all followed by male and female are the same thing but we shouldn't call a female male a male because it's not the same thing. It's like they live in a weird world where everything can be two things at once. Basically they're Schrodinger's twat.1 point
