  2. I hear this bullshit all the time. I doubt the people spouting it even know what it means The US is a representative democracy like other democracies. It is a republic because it doesn't have a monarch, like all republics. It has a constitution like most other democracies whether they have a monarch or not. It is representative because it is to large for direct democracy so people elect other people to represent them, like all other democracies whether they have monarchs or not.

  8. This is inaccurate. While it is true that supporters of Hilary Clinton “birthed” the birther conspiracy in 2008, it was soon taken over by the right, and then Trump took that baby and turned it into a big, hairy monster. He did what he did best – exploitation. Even after Obama released his original “long-form” birth certificate in 2011 (which Trump took credit for – saying he had done a great service to the country) – Trump continued to milk the monster. In 2012, he tweeted that he had an “extremely credible source” who told him the birth certificate was a fraud. In 2013, he raised suspicion about the death of a Hawaiian official who verified copies of Obama’s “birth certificate.” In 2014, he asked hackers to access Obama’s college records and check his “place of birth.” https://www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2016-37391652 If racial tensions increased after Obama got elected, it was because of the simple fact that a Black man had gained the White House. If we look at American history, we’ll see that every gain ever made by Black Americans is followed by a White backlash. Blacks have historically been told to “know their place” - and faced consequences if stepping over it. It wasn’t that long ago that looking the wrong way at a White person would get a Black person lynched. “Black Success, White Backlash” is a well-known trope. From Jim Crow following the Civil war, to the White racial panic following Obama’s election. (And that panic powered Trump.)

  10. The events unfolding right next door show very clearly that binary political system is a grave danger to democracy and will bring it down. The only way I'll consider voting for them is if the new leader (Trudeau's limit has run dry) gives a solemn commitment on specific electoral reform, including proportional representation no pantos and games this time. If they don't happen to win this time it has to be carried in the future until it's done. Quite likely it's a matter of the survival for the democracy in the longer run.

  11. I think they should just shut the Liberal Party down forever and everyone in the party right now should retire. I'm not jumping at the chance to put some rich Goldman Sachs/Brookfield banker like Carney in as PM. Nobody even knows anything about the guy or his views or vision for the country. He can be Finance Minister or something. I want a PM who has the courage to do the right thing and make the tough decisions without worrying about who might be offended. Let's start putting the truth and Canada's national interests over people's feelings. This country needs to grow some balls.

  16. Friends, Canadians, countrymen, lend me your ears; I come to bury Justin, not to praise him. The evil that men do lives after them; The good is oft interred with their bones; So let it be with Justin. The noble Pierre Hath told you Justin was ambitious: If it were so, it was a grievous fault, And grievously hath Justin answer’d it. Here, under leave of Pierre and the rest– For Pierre is an honourable man; So are they all, all honourable men– Come I to speak in Justin’s funeral. He was my friend, faithful and just to me: But Pierre says he was ambitious; And Pierre is an honourable man. Justin hath brought many trade agreements home to Canada Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill: Did this in Justin seem ambitious? When that the poor have cried, Justin hath wept: Ambition should be made of sterner stuff: Yet Pierre says he was ambitious; And Pierre is an honourable man... Yet Pierre says he was ambitious; And, sure, he is an honourable man. I speak not to disprove what Pierre spoke, But here I am to speak what I do know. You all did love him once, not without cause: What cause withholds you then, to mourn for him? O judgment! thou art fled to brutish beasts, And men have lost their reason. Bear with me; Apologies to Mrs. Shakespear's little boy Billy

  18. Except they are also defining it, the future with their choices now: every one, small and large will count. Folding to every grotesque nonsense - and plain betrayal of principles; violations of constitutional process and balances will result in a different and worse, all the way to the worst possible future. No bets now. There's no guaranteed tomorrow because some paper was written over two centuries ago. From here it's simple really: if one isn't standing to it, they are enabling it. The balance will decide the future.

  19. Matters not. In real time, when the fate of the United States gov't was in the balance, the FBI didn't have reason to inform congress that an insurrection was about to take place. If there was such scant evidence of danger that the FBI didn't even bother to say "protect congress", then there was no insurrection, period. No insurrectionist says "Let's overthrow the US gov't without telling anyone about it, or bringing any guns". There's no way that those troglodytes got the message out to enough people to "overthrow the gov't" without the FBI noticing, especially when the FBI had almost 30 CI's (agent provocateurs) embedded in the crowd. No agency that's tasked with actually protecting the gov't says "There's an insurrection occurring today, let's not tell anyone about it, and send some agent provocateurs along to try and get it really going!" This WASN'T an insurrection, because it wasn't pre-planned, as evidenced by the FBI's own ACTIONS. The FBI completely ACTED like there was no insurrection occurring. Sez you: "The only penis doodles are in Trumps head", but Apparently GZ saw penis art there. Those are godzilla's own words.

  25. "Unprecedented criminal effort to stay in power after losing election" (Reuters). Which country: - Venezuela - Belarus - Vietnam - Georgia Dumb-down games have played themselves out to the third world conclusion. It's a fact, history and its not going anywhere. If there's a way out of this for democracy in America the astounding failure of responsibility by the Republican party, specifically, Congress Republicans have to be remembered for a long, long time. Because this is how such games end. Right before our eyes.

  26. And now the subversion files 2020. Where in a democratic world you have leaders who attempt to subvert the will of people? Venezuela, Georgia, Bilarus sounds right? No way around it: the pueblo just voted for the third-world America, starting with politics. Enabled by the Republican party despite many, multiple clear warnings. The elites understand it. And they have no clue what to do about it.

  32. Cannon allows for release of Smith report on Trump election interference “Volume I of the Draft Report falsely asserts, without any jury determination, that President Trump and others ‘engaged in an unprecedented criminal effort,’ was ‘the head of the criminal conspiracies,’ and harbored a ‘criminal design,’” Trump’s legal team wrote in the letter. so i guess its just "jury determination" thats missing as far as Trumps lawyers are concerned.

While people may politely listen to the deranged foreigner and look concerned or reply to a poll that something should be done, they haven’t the slightest intention of making it a priority. Perhaps if we have a few more 1993 election results they will wake up but I doubt it.

  35. From the reaction everybody can see that it touched a nerve. What to do about it? Admit the reality try to understand it? Or pretend that nothing is happening. You can drop, loose and empty the thing of all meaningful substance, everything that makes it a modern democracy and still have it running whistling happily. Works for you? The crisis is looming and they have no clue what to do with the genie they just let out of the bottle. What to do about it: a big happy smile everybody! This can very well be the final one though. Nothing plays forever in the entropy world. There will be no miracles. Where the reason and diligence of free citizens cease, democracy will go.

  36. Go read a book. The "American experiment" refers to the creation of a constitutional democracy, a government of, by and for the people--the first of its kind in the world. You clearly want to destroy that experiment, but you should at least know what it means before you throw it away in service to a dictator.

  37. And so, all attention has to be on the Congress Republicans now. Surely, Joe contributed to the election loss at a critical time and that will be his legacy. But Republicans not only allowed but by now, enabled and promoted this travesty: - Failing to censor grave offenses against democracy such as attempt to subvert an election, Maduro style - Nominating him second time against all factual evidence of irresponsibility of the choice - Even now they play right into the liar's tune by suggesting that there can be anything wrong with the universal justice. Should everyone be held accountable for their action. Yes or no? You absolutely cannot avoid these questions nor shuffle them away. His play is obvious as clear as a day now: he will try to control the institutions. He's fully convinced that he should be running them like his idol Vlad or Maduro and "checks and balances", "independent oversight" just some fancy stories for the pueblo in the colored book. Those "trolling" stories are nothing funny to shrug off: he's trying to gauge who will fold, and he's getting excellent feedback. Most Republicans shrug and wonder privately maybe that's too far, and why would he be saying that and a bunch of crazies will try to jump before the wagon as always. They will fold as the history tells very clearly: these things have to be resisted, strongly, openly and publicly. And if, on top of all of the above they choose to participate, actively or passively in a rise of a truly dictatorial regime, they will go done with it, every one, every face and name. The duty is written very clear and there can be no confusion about it: it's to the people and the Constitution, not to a liar. It would be a clear, total and possibly final failure of that duty. For the entire history to see and cite as an example of total and grotesque failure of duty, as long as there's normal history.

  41. Translation: "I don't like Trudeau, so I am going to turn my back on my country, and support Trump, who is currently musing about annexing Canada (on top of the tariff threat)." It's one thing to support an alliance between Canada and the USA, when the majority of the population supports one, and it is between two democratic nations. However, what is happening here, is we have an unstable, autocratic leader from a much larger nation, threatening Canada with ridiculous tariffs, and later to outright annex us. I never thought Canada had this many cowards in our country. Then again, these are the same people that are justifying Putin's invasion of the Ukraine, so it's not entirely unexpected.

  43. The stats don't show that. And no link I noticed. And this is children reporting that they believe that they feel that they may have been targeted with attention. So they think some teacher looked at them? How does that make schools a sex Factory? So you post a quote with no link that doesn't even support what you're trying to claim. Well done If I said crap like that and realized how stupid it was I guess I would try and deny it to just as you're doing Except it is when you wear specifically sexually explicit garments and dance around for them which is exactly what happens in many of these cases as has been posted here many times with videos. And it's not the only kind of indoctrination that goes on. As we saw in a post not that long ago one of these so-called performers was teaching the kids to chant for the genocide of Israelis in israel. Parents went nuts rightfully so and the schoolboard promised to 'review' it. Well that's like asking for a stat proving that stabbing somebody is assault. It's not really a statistical thing it just is. Here's some examples tho of drag queen story hour and teh whole child indoctrination of youth thing: And some reports on the harms of early sexualization and exposure to porn or sexualized behavior. Early exposure to pornography: a form of sexual trauma - Journal of Psychiatry Reform Early exposure to pornography: a form of sexual trauma - Journal of Psychiatry Reform Turns out there's all kinds of problems with exposing children to sexualized behavior or sexual issues earlier than they need to be. There's tons more of research and tons more examples of inappropriate trans story times. So there you go

  45. Stats tell a different story. If that was my claim I would have made it, but I didn't. So sorry, your strawman isn't gonna fly here. Yeah you're once again proving my point: you f*ckwads are more worked up about teaching kids about alternative lifestyles or identities than actual sexual abuse. Yeah the fact you are more concerned about "sexualized propaganda" than the prevalence of actual pedos in your institutions has me wondering what you're trying to hide.
