gas heat is better than electric heat because its less itchy! the new faucets go drip drip drip! he's not always thinking like maintenance staff at Mar-a-Lago: Hezbollah was responsible for the Jan 6th riots... maybe. 20% tariffs on Canadian goods sold to the US are coming! Full Press Conference: President-elect Donald Trump from Mar-a-Lago he's not even president yet. four more years this circus!2 points

For the umpteenth goddamn time...climate change only makes wildfires worse it doesn't cause them. Yeah, it's telling us how effective decades of denial has been. Why spend money managing anything for climate change if it's a nothing-burger? It's just common sense. The Liberals mismanagement of the climate file has created a level of cynicism that's resulted in pushing public concern for the climate onto the back burner while boosting an outlook for fossil fuels that hasn't been seen in decades. Good job.2 points

I keep thinking it's some sort of weird code. You know, like how the allies used to do in the war when they would send strange radio messages that were meant to be picked up by the resistance. "The fat lady sings at 7:34!" "there is no ham in spam". "Fragrant walruses cavort on tulips!" "when the clock strikes midnight, cinderella wants her pumpkin back!". That kind of thing. I thought perhaps he was sending secret coded messages to some odious cohorts of his. So i ran it through a chatgpt program designed to detect cryptology and ciphers and asked it to figure out what it meant. It came back with "what the hell is wrong with you? ". I've given up.2 points

and now the circus clowns begin their reign of economic terror! haaha! House GOP puts Medicaid, ACA, climate measures on chopping block the "felon in chief" and GOP's MO is to renew the Trump tax cuts that will add another $10T to the national debt. that $10T going directly into the pockets of the richest Americans. but that pesky debt ceiling! so they are going to attempt to rifle through seniors benefits, health care for the poor and infrastructure spending to find that money for the billionaire boys club! of course, you can't bleed a stone so they have only been able to identify $5.6T in cuts that even they can stomach. mind you, Trump is not a "fiscal conservative"... they never are. he has repeatedly suggested that the US get rid of the debt ceiling so that his ilk can just shovel cash into their own pockets. the "felon in chief" will claim that he inherited such a mess (the economy being stronger than its been in US history) that billionaires need more money. Greenland, Greenland, Greenland... look over here!1 point

Did anyone else watch this? I almost forgot just how freaking awesome this guy is. He's absolutely the best politician that I've ever seen at articulating his position in a way that is unimpeachable. I don't see how he could be stopped in 4 years. It really feels like he will be the next President.1 point

We already know that, but have failed to take any action on that fact ...such as Forrest management, investing in Forrest fire prevention, equipment, and training for more fire fighters...The government knows that, but shrugs it shoulders so it can't be very important can it...And according to the media climate change is the cause of all these fires , read some of the headlines.... Climate change is a global problem....and until the entire global takes it seriously nothing we do in canada is going to change anything.... Canadians don't want to pay out of pocket for climate change, because they know it is a global problem that requires a global solution....and nothing Canada does will change anything in the climate change realm....the entire globe has put climate change on hold. were to busy killing each other, preparing for tariffs, figuring out how to make 2 % of GDP for our security apparatus... you know the day to day stuff...And just for the record, this is a Liberal/NDP issue they were in charge and did squat....look at them for how our nation faired in the climate change world....maybe you should have voted for the windbag green party for better results...1 point

Which is likely exactly what's going to happen to mark carney. it looks like most of the other leading contenders are going to back out. I can't blame them they're thinking exactly the same thing you are. So they're going to keep their 350k in their pockets for the next convention and leadership race. Carney will win the nomination, especially with the field cleared of those who are the more serious contenders to take him on. He has never fought an election campaign and will get clobbered. He has no real ties in the liberal party and they will hate him and stab him in the back in the same way they did ignatieff. Nobody is even going to know who he is, he's going to get one lousy month as a leadership candidate to introduce himself to all of Canada who is not paying attention right now and then he'll be into an election. So he's going to lose a lot of seats. At this point I would guess that the liberals will be reduced to less than 50 seats, probably in the 35 to 40 range. Are constitution is such that a loss automatically means a leadership review. And all those people who kept their money in their pockets from this campaign will be saying that carney is not the person to rebuild the party. He will get punted and a new leadership campaign will take place. To steal a pinocchio reference, the libs are luring Carney to Pleasure Island and it won't be long before he winds up looking like a donkey.1 point

Nobody is denying anything, but one can not blame climate change for everything....the fact that climate change has been a matter of record for decades now, and yet we have done NO or very little Forrest management, nor have we grown our NATIONAL fighting capability, or developed a national fire fighting program...is telling, i guess we will wait until next decade....a moose farts in the north and poof we blame it on climate change.... The fact i gave you sources that do state that human are causing most of these fires mean nothing to you....And when you look at how many fires Canada has had today and in the past, the last couple of years has not been the worst on record, more to the fact that larger and more fires burnt canada prior to climate change even being a thing....SO hanging all of this on climate change is BS....does climate change have a factor i'm sure it does, but not to the extent the media cry's when one fire starts, and the environmentalists get a hold of it and run....and then we have the liberal government who love anything to do with climate change...and the only thing we have done is put a price on carbon, thinking that we are doing our part for climate change....we either get on the horse or off the horse...but liberal half ass measures are not working ...want to whine about something whine about that... https://climaterealists.ca/record-forest-fires-in-canada-only-if-you-ignore-history/1 point

So I got a text from someone Saturday night asking if she could come over and pick up the computers she dropped off. The previous message on the conversation was asking the same thing in early January, 2024. Then I remembered running into her at the local re-use shed in early summer, she'd asked the same question and said she'd come get it that afternoon. Had to tell her sorry they were sent to recycling a month or so ago after I'd had them over a year and no one came to get them. She replied with OK then. This morning there was a nasty FB post from her brother telling evreyone what a scumbag I was for throwing away "his property" and destroying all his saved memories. I remember that system. Had a smashed screen with a hole in it exactly the size of a hammer head. A Macbook, originally priced over $1500. That wouldn't boot up and when dismantled has a soldered on hard drive. Scrolled back on that conversation again and saw that I'd texted her back exactly that in Oct 2023, that the only way to get those pics back was to send it to Apple, pay many huindreds of dollars and long shipping waits. No further contact until she asked to pick up the laptop in Jan 2024 and never did. The brother actually stated in his rant that if he took his car to a mechanic, didn't want to pay for repairs and left it sitting there for a whole year a reputable mechanic would 'give his car back'. Some people live in their own delusions.1 point

I find the left to be mostly hypocritical when it comes to this type of stuff. They had no problem blaming Trump for Covid, DeSantis for the hurricanes, etc. But when you criticize them for spending valuable tax payers resources on spray painting fire hydrants rainbow colors to virtue signal about the homosexuals and refuse to do proper forestry management around major parts of the civilization to prevent significant incidences like this one they go off. Very dishonest people.1 point

No, Conservatives have always been realistic about the basic functions of government to be things like fire and police. So... again, why do you keep ignoring the question? Is it because you know it defeats your argument? The government can in fact reasonably do more to be more prepared to both fight fires and help prevent them or how serious they become.1 point

Nothing but opinions from you. You deny that news sources have been discussing this story for close to a week now. There were many that I could choose from based on a simple google search. I watch the nightly news and form opinion based on the reporting through critical thinking. This story has been all over the place since the fires broke.1 point

I grew up with one of them at the end of our dirt road. One of those green, multi box, precursors to the supper mailbox. One lockable compartment for each household. That was back in the days of party line phones. Seems to me there's a huge divide in Canada between city mice and country mice. Lot's of unexploited wedge issues there for liberals to work on. The "raw milk" thing makes me laugh every time I hear Herb-like creatures label it a MAGA freedumb issue. We grew up thinking it was just milk... my kids still laugh at me for giving the milk container a quick up and down shake before pouring it.1 point

They? So you feel that the police and the gov't planned specifically to kill floyd? That's what you're suggesting. George floyd was not a planned event. Not properly cleaning the forest is a decision. That is policy, not an accident or the like. It's not like the forests were jacked up on fenynal. So comparing the two is nuts.1 point

Dude, that was an absolutely embarrassing melt down on your part, all because @User asked you for a simple cite. So looking over your numbers, your initial post was quite wrong. You misunderstood what you were reading. What they have indicated is that if nothing else changes then there will be that much of a loss in REVENUES from taxation. IF nothing else changes. However, they do not even attempt to calculate the increased business and economic revenue that such tax cuts can produce. You MISTOOK that estimate for ACTUAL REVENUE REDUCTION. You claimed that amount would be added to the debt. But it's not actual revenue reduction, and it doesn't allow for any other factors like spending reductions. It is NOT the amount that will be added to the deficit AT ALL. They are saying that IF NOTHING ELSE CHANGED then that would be the cost, not that this would be the debt addition. It's just looking at the number that would need to be replaced by increased activity or spending cuts to maintain parity. It's not actually going to show up on the debt or deficit, it's to calculate how much will need to be recovered. First, revenue is not deficit. Any reduction in revenue can be offset with spending cuts or other factors. So right off the bat you got your statement wrong. Secondly, the tax cuts WILL affect economic activity The Case for Trump’s 15 Percent Corporate Tax Rate | Cato at Liberty Blog as noted in the above work, there will likley be NO actual reduction in revenues, or at least no substantial reduction. So revenue losses from reduced rates will likely be offset almost entirely by increases in business activity as a result of those reductions. Your claim that the calculated amount was what trump was adding to the debt was absolutely incorrect. No wonder that you didn't want to tell him where the number came from1 point

You might say the sun rises in the west but you'd be wrong then too What a load of nonsense. And your excuses that followed were pathetic. He was adored even before he was identified. People were praising the shooting like crazy before he was caught. And that's because he killed a medical insurance exec. It is EXACTLY the same thing. "we don't like medical executives so when bad things happen to them we say he had it coming". "we don't like left wing California or it's left wing governer so when bad things happen to them they had it coming." It is precisely the same in both cases. People are willing to accept unacceptable events as long as they happen to people they don't like. In fact we saw it with trump when he got shot. How many on the left were thrilled that someone tried to kill him and only angry at the fact that he missed. We saw that sentiment everywhere including on this forum. So you don't need to look around the web, you can find that sentiment right here. Black dog for example was ecstatic when trump was shot and also believe that the medical guy should deserved it. And once again you expose your own personal hypocrisy. It's clearly exactly the same thing but in your mind when the left wings does it it's perfectly acceptable and understandable but when the right wing does it it's terrible and evil. Spare me your crocodile tears. At least I'm consistent, I say it's bad when both do it. You're just a hypocrite1 point

Who? Do you mean donald? Or, the jury that found him guilty? You must of forgotten that donald hatched and implemented a plan to install fake electors in multiple states. He then attempted to coerce his vice president to certify those fraudulent electors over the legitimate electors, or at the very least, refuse to certify the legitimate electors. Had donald succeeded with his plan, he would of also succeeded in disenfranchising millions of voters. Such election interference is clearly an act of treason. Donalds upcoming case (which was canceled because he was re-elected) about donalds failed efforts to illegally remain in power, would of shown donalds culpability. Which is why he is fighting so hard to get the evidence collected by Jack Smith blocked from public scrutiny. Donalds a dirty traitor, but his sycophants are far too busy licking his scrotum to notice. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjU8oHPy-6KAxVNKEQIHVHoCjMQFnoECCIQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fapnews.com%2Farticle%2Ftrump-special-counsel-report-election-interference-4ef4ba2508baf3bb269abd4bcdc8e102&usg=AOvVaw3pRewavxzV6X8z8IeMAItm&opi=899784491 point

I think we all knew this was going to happen. Enrich the oligarchs, while screwing over the working and middle class. Trump has failed at literally everything he has done in life, with the exception of being a conman. Elon Musk is a man who takes credit off other people's inventions, and has made a fortune off government grants. Vivek Ramasharmy is a con artist, who bought a failed drug, re-branded it, and dumped the stock once it was going into Phase III clinical trials. And of course, RFK Jr, an ex-junkie, who had his brain eaten by worms. What could possibly go wrong?1 point

Governments make mistakes but anybody who thinks another government could have prevented all these fires is living in a dream world. Nature is telling us that certain parts of the globe, eg, Southern California and Southern Florida, are not meant for the vast numbers of people currently there and will become much more hostile in the coming decades.1 point

For wildfires in that part of the world there are immediate causes like downed power lines, lightning strikes and arson, and underlying ones like abundant dried vegetation and unusually strong Santa Ana winds. Obviously, it’s hard to exclude the role climate change is playing here which makes for more vegetation, drier vegetation and stronger winds.1 point
