1. Well, the thing is: -You call me a liar when I state my OPINIONS sometimes. Which is like me saying "I like chocolate" and you saying "No you don't" -You state that you only respond to me to call out my lies but you also add to my points and in fact don't always call me out. So am I a liar or not ? -You seem to think that it's ok to disparage my character and that I should be unbothered by that and just go on posting as though I have some obligation to you or the forum to put up with it. 2. "You should" means you're prescribing what this forum is and should be. I would counter that with saying "you SHOULD" engage in substantial arguments and not name-call. Furthermore my version of how this forum should operate is substantiated in the Guidelines: https://repolitics.com/forums/guidelines/ Be Polite and Respect Others Repolitics.com operates these forums in the hopes that they will promote intelligent, honest and responsible discussion. We encourage you to speak your mind on relevant issues in a thoughtful way. Please respect others using this board and treat them with respect and dignity. 3. I'm glad that you're unhappy with this. Given that you don't like how the forum works, I recommend the best thing is for you to leave immediately and never come back. I think that would be best.3 points

It absolutely does and pulling and discussions with the younger people make that crystal clear Not even close. Abortion is pretty much put to bed but made in transgender rights are front and center and have played a role in the last few provincial elections as well. New provincial laws are coming into place and even Poilievre has commented on the need to secure the rights of parents. As we speak cases will be going before the supreme court to address whether or not towns and municipalities must be forced to participate in pride events. I'm sure in your mind is settled. But frankly the kind of rhetoric and personal attacks on the rights of others from yourself and people like you Keep the issue alive and well for many Canadians. It was only a year ago we had hundreds of thousands of people marching in children stomping on gay flags in the street. But it's even more than that. People are sick of spending hundreds of millions of dollars to fund diversity programs in other countries. They are sick to death of gun buybacks that do nothing but increase the number of homicides by gun and cost insane amounts of money. They are fed up with supporting left-wing propaganda media sites with tax dollars. And they are fed up with the insane borrowing That is going to leave them broke and serviceless in the future and they realize that the woke ideology of eating the rich has turned out to be an unmitigated disaster as the rich are fleeing and our tax base goes down Economics plays a huge role. But at the end of the day all things are economics. Borrowing money against our children's future to fund diversity programs in Africa is still an economic issue because it will be those children that will have to pay either for a higher taxes or reduced services. Bringing in unreasonable amounts of immigrants and insane amounts of refugees is a woke ideology but it has an economic impact. All woke ideology winds up having an economic impact. So if you're worried about the economic impact then you have to be worried about the woke. And don't even get me started on the carbon tax. And so on and so on People are waking up if you'll pardon the pun to the realization that having the government focus on anything other than his core responsibilities most of which are economic and ignoring the woke nonsense that governments have been participating in is the only way that they can have financial prosperity.2 points

I would like to thank "Team Canada" for their good faith arguments based on knowledge and factual information. It certainly has not been easy in 2024, to debate with a bunch of MAGA Hyenas, but you were all up for the task, and I commend you for it. Team Canada is composed of: @Michael Hardner @myata @robosmith @BeaverFever @Hodad @Moonlight Graham @eyeball @Moonbox @Black Dog @Queenmandy85 @Politics1990 @herbie @Radiorum Sorry if I forgot anyone. You made 2024 much better. Thank you for believing in democracy.1 point

Yes, if. What happens if the VP doesn't certify the electors? What then? You folks on the left never can seem to muster up anything else. You act like if that happens somehow Trump is dictator for life. Trump did not call for or coordinate any violent mob activity. Trump is not a traitor. He is the next President. Get used to that for the next 4 years.1 point
-
The answer lies with: -Why are the so-called "fake" electors in New Mexico and Pennsylvania going to get off without even being charged? -Why is it 4 years later and nothing has happened to the others as their cases languish and the Democrat AG's have to try to figure out what laws they can scheme up to charge them with over the past 4 years? The simple reality is that the plan was that these electors would serve ONLY if the legal process played out in Trumps favor to show they were needed, which is exactly the language the goofballs in New Mexico and Pennsylvania were savvy enough to include on their documents. Had the others done the same, they would be home free too.1 point

One policy is tying immigration to health care and housing. For example, last year Canada accepted over a million new citizens, at the same time the number of doctors in Canada went down. Do you think that's good policy? What do you think that does for people trying to find a doctor, wait times, etc?1 point

And that's why it gets boring after a while @BeaverFever. Lots of times you actually discuss and make arguments and in such cases even if you're wrong it's still interesting to read but if you just completely flat out lie or make utterly stupid statements line after line after line then its just dull. The best discussions happen when people disagree but everything they say is factually accurate and logical (yes that is entirely possible). Then it's all about the points and counterpoints and the issue gets fully examined and even if the two never do wind up agreeing everyone's knowledge of the topic and its complexity expands and we are all better for it. Do that.1 point

The comical thing, is that one of the primary orchestrators of the spamming, was Laura Loomer, and she is still posting away on X. She did not have her account banned. One of the natural laws of the universe that's routinely ignored with a patented "it doesn't apply to me shrug" because my opinion is right. It's a bit like the effect of velocity squared and coefficient of friction on stopping distance, or the difference between spin down speed with viscous / dynamic hydroplaning.... "it doesn't apply to me because I'm in a hurry." Anyone who drives a plow truck (or a tow truck) in the worst of snow storms will tell you that it's all wheel drive vehicles with good snow tires that are first ones into the ditch. Suffice it to say I've met a lot of Herbs on the side of the road, and when I do, it reminds me to be thankful that they only get one vote each. Reality is a funny thing, it exists whether you believe it or not and it doesn't actually care what you think. Failure to acknowledge its existence usually means that it automatically works against you. Based on tire pressure, you can actually calculate the approximate dynamic hydroplaning spin down speed. But don't bother telling Herb about it... one of two things will happen if you do: he will either assert that it's a colonial construct intended to harass people of colour who are late for work or he'll type "TLDR, WTF does REALITY have to do with political choices FFS" See ya next snow storm Herb...1 point

OH, BOY! Well - now that Jagmeet Singh's pension is quite a well-known subject....... ...............................I suppose Singh doesn't dare come out to say he will lie again, and won't back Poilievre's plan to bring down the government. NDP MP says he won't play Poilievre's 'procedural games' to bring down Trudeau https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/ndp-mp-says-he-wont-play-poilievres-procedural-games-to-bring-down-trudeau/ar-AA1wIgBQ So, we know what to expect from the NDP. Well, this is sad to hear. Hate is not a constructive or productive activity. But, anyways, I think the most Poilievre will do is ban transgender women from competing in women's sports. And I think this is fair, as a transgender woman does have a physical advantage over a cisgender woman. As far as bathrooms are concerned, this is an easy fix. We just need bathrooms with individual rooms containing a toilet and a sink. We already have restaurants like that. This is the way of the future. Canada is not spending hundreds of millions of dollars on this. And what countries do you mean? This money that you say is being used for DEI is actually being used for research - but with a goal of greater representation from under-represented groups. I think the diverse perspectives will serve the research.1 point

How dare you, or anyone like you, reduce the very real struggle of fellow human beings to “whims”? Seems you are arbitrarily changing the meaning of the word “whim” here. There is nothing fanciful or capricious in being born in a body that does not coincide with the sex of your brain. But, I understand this is beyond your comprehension. Of course transgenders are born naturally. What other way is there of being born? What you need to understand is that transgender persons are a part of society, too. You are a victim of your narrow-minded and ignorant reality. But your version of reality is an illusion that calls upon you to disavow the reality of others. It’s a persistent one for you, which only leads me to pity you in your trap.1 point

One of the problems with discussing immigration in Canada is the dearth of statistical information the government makes available. This government, in particular, which promised to be the most transparent, the most open, open by default government in history is actually the most tightly closed in history. It either won't give out information or makes it very hard to find, requiring multiple access to information requests from researchers. Canadians have come to know, broadly, that immigration is making us all poorer, increasing housing costs, and making it hard to find a doctor. But there's little in the way of government stats to back up this clear realization. Things are a bit better in the UK, though, which is facing the EXACT same situation we are, with huge numbers of largely low-skilled people coming in from North Africa and the Middle East, increasing housing costs and making it very hard to get doctors or other services. They, however, sometimes have access to better statistics, and other European countries are less shy about divulging the problems immigration has caused. And in short, immigration as presently constituted in Canada and Europe is 'hollowing out' our welfare states and making us poorer. Almost every immigrant who comes in through any means other than direct skills costs us money. How much? We don't know in Canada because the government won't tell us. We only know that asylum claimants cost us $82k per year per claim because a tory MP managed to dig into various books and pull the numbers free. We do know from government stats that regular immigrants, especially family class do more poorly than Canadians, but there's no dollar cost to the state attached. But Matt Goodwin has been doing some research in the UK and has come out with a lot of information valuable to Canadians. But what was also interesting about this report is that, unlike what usually happens, it did not point to mass immigration as the answer to these problems. Why? Because even the technocrats at the OBR have finally realised that the current model of mass immigration that we are pursuing in the UK is weakening, not strengthening, the economy. In short, the very kind of immigration that our hapless political elites on both the Left and the Right have been encouraging since Brexit—low skill, low wage, non-selective immigration from outside Europe— is the most economically damaging. https://www.mattgoodwin.org/p/the-economic-case-for-mass-immigration?utm_source=publication-search1 point

Simplest fact is the leaders of the three opposition parties now say they do not have confidence in the government. That means when a vote is held, the government will be defeated in a non-confidence motion. However, since the three parties now have no confidence in the government, the fact remains that the government no longer has the confidence of Parliament because they are a minority and the three parties are the majority. The government should do the decent thing and face it by recalling Parliament and accepting the outcome.1 point

So Hunter Biden lied when he said his dad met Li? Or was it Joe that was lying that said he didn't meet Li? “There was a rope line, and Jonathan Li was in the lobby of the hotel where I was going to meet him for coffee,” Hunter said. “In that line I introduced my dad to Jonathan Li and a friend of his, and they shook hands and I believe probably took a photograph. And then my father went up to his room, and I went to have coffee with Jonathan Li.” When pressed, he insisted, “I did not interact with their partners.” And why did Li send Hunter a pile of money right aftrr Joe signed a letter to help get Li's kids into college? The second wire transfer sent to Hunter Biden, dated Aug. 2, 2019, was for $250,000 from Li Xiang Sheng Biden wrote college recommendation letters for kids of Chinese exec tied to Hunter1 point

Now you've jumped to total incompetence and framed it in a manner that suggests people with contrary minded opinions here are equating incompetence with gender/skin colour. You're missing the point entirely and IMO, you're doing it deliberately and under the guise of "little ole me is just asking a question." Skin pigment doesn't make you incompetent by virtue of its presence any more than it makes your performance superior or outstanding because of it.... that's the point being made here. If you are doing the promoting, hiring, firing (or whatever), allotting extra points in a ranked merit system for skin colour and what happens to exist between your legs only serves to elevate individuals above their peer group by using a random criteria that has nothing to do with merit. You could just as easily use eye colour, even/odd birth years, or cat person/dog person criteria... and if I were suggest that, you would immediately (and quite rightly) brand it as madness. And when you did, I'd ask you to prove that cat people were incompetent by virtue of not liking dogs. I could stand your argument on its head and ask if you have any evidence to suggest that the performance of women and people of colour is, by virtue of the gender/colour difference, superior to that of white males. The reason I haven't done that is because the proposition is ludicrous on its face. No one is saying that... and you know it. If you were to suggest that any merit list position should be elevated based on being male and being white, I would argue against it for the exact same reason I'm opposed to applying the formula in reverse. And ironically, if you were actually to do stuff like that it would immediately be obvious to everyone and it would have the exact opposite effect of that intended.. What do you suppose that would do to attrition? What merit list group do you suppose that attrition would most heavily impact? The answer is it would increase and the demographic that increased it would all be higher performers than the folks you actually promoted... over time, you can easily guess what happens. I think you're actually getting a taste of it right now and I don't think it's working out too well. Doubling down on it might not be the best plan but it is entertaining to watch once you're retired. When considering some of the LSD induced policy decisions of late, the question most often asked by veterans in the locker room is "WTF did you think was going to happen?"1 point

😆. Democrats still don't understand that this nonsense ^^^ is why Donnie won and why the MAGA movement rolls on.. The immigration debate is more complex than just flinging baseless allegations of "racism" to shut down the other side. When you bring in more people to work, it places a strain on a number of things including hospital wait times, education system, spread of foreign diseases ie Covid-19, etc. While the upper class benefit from a larger labor pool and can suppress wages, unchecked immigration is no doubt having a significant impact on inflationary pressures, housing shortages, and many other impacts. But hey at least the Democrats found somebody to work for less than minimum wage picking their fruit for them1 point
