Even though there are clearly religious differences, I don't recall a single conversation there being about religion as causal. Maybe just me, but I never saw it and it was never the grievance I heard. This is a struggle over land by two separate ethnic groups, each with long standing and divergent claims to the area. There are a variety of means you could do to increase the number of doctors and nurses. 1 Create a Canada-wide registration system for foreign doctors and nurses, including temporary ones. Anyone who works in a Western country with a comparable level of healthcare sophistication can register there and work anywhere in Canada without going through the nonsense of years-long testing and evaluation from Canadian provincial medical associations. 2 Make healthcare technicians, doctors and nurses a special category for foreign workers. People from western countries working in those jobs now can be brought over to work for a month, six months, a year, or however long they want by any healthcare institution in Canada with an absolute minimum of red tape. 3 Offer free tuition for doctors willing to work as family doctors. Due to our shortage of medical/nursing school spaces, subsidize Canadian students to study in another Western country as long as their marks are high enough on condition they return to work here or pay it back with interest. 4 increase the number of medical/nursing school seats by bringing in foreign teachers and paying for more residency positions in hospitals. Temporarily cancel all foreign training positions in Canada, ie, the one with the Saudis.

This is the point: There are many reasons why more white people occupy more positions of authority proportionally as compared to the makeup of society than people of colour that have nothing to do with racism, the main one being that when many of these people at the top today started out in their careers, there were far fewer people from visible minorities, far fewer. When many of these immigrants came to Canada, many of them had to learn an official language proficiently and adjust to the way of life, get their qualifications recertified for Canada, and so on. Canada has only been this multicultural since the late nineties, but even then it was nothing like today. Disproportionalities don’t automatically equate to systemic racism, and anyone who says they do is being dishonest. The problems of cultural adjustment are universal for anyone travelling to another country, albeit some countries are more accepting than others or easier to access. Canada is one of the most accepting. The notion that white people carry some special privilege is nonsense. People have no reason to feel ashamed or guilty or like they owe someone something just on the basis of their skin colour. Indigenous were just as atrocious as the colonists. Race and other shallow identity markers have no place in hiring or admissions. Never answer surveys on race, sexual orientation and identity, etc., because the data is being used to discriminate against people.

The left needs a good reorientation along the lines of Ed Broadbents NDP with a really healthy dose of Elizabeth Mays Greens to round things out. The right will always be the right with or without the Liberals.

Does higher education mean a person is higher skilled...I know a lot of very educated people , that can barely do day to day activates without out help...I also know lots of guys that had high school education that planed logistics for a 5000 person brigade group, 7 days in advance from beans to bullets to fuel, trains and planes etc....that takes a higher skill to get it right... Education is not always the end all be all...nor does it mean you are highly skilled, becasue of it.
