  1. A lot of celebrities who preach about climate change fly around in private jets and have giant carbon footprints. I get that for security reasons maybe he needs his own jet but the man should lead by example in other areas. He's just so phony about everything, he's behaves like an actor in a play and it's all fake. It's really hard for a human being to make themselves more unlikeable.

  5. Absolutely they will, it's been very effective twice. And it will be a third time, CPC just handed them a ton of fuel with this convention. CPC would have been better off not having the policy convention at all. All it did was highlight that the Reform wing of the party still exists to the rest of Canada.

  6. The CPC never brought up social issues in any of the previous elections. The Liberals brought them up and the media ran with them. I suspect they'll try to do the same this election.

Considering they are very different aircraft, one loaded with extras, like self protection measures, state of the art communications system, in flight refueling capability, while Justin plane is not meant to be an airborne command center, but rather a comfortable passage plan, with a few small upgrades...it takes years to put together a B747, and a shit ton of money, it might take a few months to put Justins plane together and a a few million. Trumps personal airliner is more lavish...

  15. I thank the Good Lord that true Americans are not like you. You want a “strong America” that gives you the freedom and liberty to discriminate against others. You believe in democracy only if you get your way. Other people’s opinions don’t matter to you. What you really want is freedom for yourself at the expense of others, because you are selfish and un-Christian. It’s sociopathic.

  16. Jann Arden/climatards: "PP should fly in private jets to save the environment, just like the Golden Boy!" ? What a dumb skank. 19. He has MANY tools and choices. Reductions in wasteful spending. better control of immigration, reworking trade agreements by using a competent negotiator instead of freeland and NOT dressing up to mock that country's clothing , the choices are endless I would imagine what he finally goes with will depend a little on what the final situation is at election time. Who can say how much more trudeau will screw the country. Red tape is a buzzword and it's worth pointing out that I used it to paraphrase his statements, it's not what he used. But bureaucracy is very real, and it is insanely expensive. And yes it has gotten worse. So there's no "Maybe" there - it comes up again and again in politics because the moment you stop fighting it, it creeps back. And no - it is very simplistic to say that spending cuts mean service cuts. Things like NOT spending hundreds of millions on a useless border app would be an example You can use web and ap tools to automate and simplify many gov't services including passports - a thing the passport offices begged the gov't to do. However - there are undoubtedly some "Services" we can cut that don't affect our lives very much. CBC comes to mind. As far as immigration goes - cutting it back will solve a hell of a lot more problems than it causes - in the short term. It's not a long term solution, our very structure will cause homes and resources to reduce to the new level within about 3 years. So you have to do more. But - it would buy the time for longer term fixes. Nope. Only the libs base their entire operations on it. the cpc tends to fit it in where they can but still stick to good governance. But for the trudeau libs, it's all they have. And that's the difference. More like the harper era. Remember chretien cut medial transfers and looted the ei fund for 70 billion while downloading bills to the provinces. Harper focused on doing the business of gov't - doing trade deals, protecting our interests, and using VERY targeted changes in tax and other policy to encourage investment and growth while cutting unnecessary spending. The difference between staying on the road and driving off the cliff is often only a few degrees turn of the steering wheel. Small change - big difference.

  20. Of course there's not enough money. That's why apartheid failed in South Africa, it costed too much. It wasn't so much social as economic. I would have thought Starlink would cover most rural areas by now at less cost? Running fiber up in the North has to cost a fortune.

  21. Wow. Really bad numbers for Biden. I suppose it's mid term so he's not that worried and won't pull out any 'big guns' to fix the problem until closer to the election. Funny enough - with trump so far ahead in the primaries there's really not a lot of talk or interest in the race - and normally candidates count on that to get their name out there with a bunch of free advertising from the press. But thanks to all the criminal charges and such the people are still talking about trump 24/7 and it seems to be floating his poling numbers. If the dems had half a brain they'd have been on the phone to every press person they know saying "just shut up about the guy and dont' say a word.". But they're giving him a lot of clicks for free. The prosecutors aren't helping either. The charges waited that long, they could have waited a little longer to see if he won. If not they can clobber him safely, but now "elect me and i'll get revenge for you for what they did to me" is actually getting traction

  22. 1. I like the idea of looking at causes, as it removes morality and looks only at cause and effect. But you should lose the premise that there are 'cycles' because it's not exactly like the seasons: long periods of peace followed by periods of war of varying lengths don't constitute a cycle. But let's see what you've got here. 2. Good start. I would say that employment security is seen as a 'cost' to investors. 3. It sounds like you are talking about mining in countries outside the corporate HQ, eg. Canadian companies in S. America. 4. First time ? Gulf War I ? 9/11 ? Russia invasion of Afghanistan/Ukraine I/Ukraine II? 5. The ideas come from the investor class, with the assumption that wealth will trickle down and that the folks working double shifts and sleeping in their cars in the parking lot will wake up gleeful when they hear about Stock Market gains. This is pretty good, but it's a lament. But ... really can we expect much more ? The conservatives and NDP will soon fuse, I fear, and make some kind of Liberal anti-matter behemoth. If they care about the environment it might be ok though. Thanks for an original and thoughtful post myata.

  23. Indians still remember when Trudeau publicly told their PM that he needed to talk to the farmers about their protest, not long before he ignored our own peaceful protest and then trampled them with horses and had them beaten up. He also brought a terrorist to dinner in India on his previous trip. This time he had to go there stag because his wife ditched him. Of course all of that is peanuts compared to trying to get India to talk to terrorists about partitioning their country, it's just bizarre now. I don't know what it is about Trudeau and India but he is nothing short of a total embarrassment every time he goes there. They must all think that we're retarded.

  24. The gender pronoun thing in schools on its own, probably not. But the whole host of proposed trans resolutions like segregated areas, no medical care for teens, and so on could weigh on the CPC quite a bit. Maybe not abortion or same sex marriage levels of revulsion, but it could definitely get there. It's a shame that parties don't set their own term limits on leaders. 10 years or something, it's very hard to win after that long in office anyways.

  28. If there are suspected undocumented burials, it makes sense to at least confirm that they’re actual burial sites. The question of whether or how many of these, if confirmed as remains, are Indigenous would also have to be answered, as well as the question of cause of death. These aren’t unimportant details; they’re the entire basis of your unsubstantiated narrative. I say again, any death by neglect or worse is a tragedy and must be recognized. You can’t use conjecture, however, as the basis for accusations of mistreatment, certainly not murder, and absolutely not genocide. To do so is incendiary, reckless, divisive, and disrespectful to any tragic victims of whom we are certain.

  30. Well I don't know what your point is. Of course it is done by companies and those companies also sub contract work to other companies. Even if you "build" your own home you are either hiring a contractor to do the whole project and look after subbing out jobs to other independent contractors or will have to do that yourself unless you personally so proficient in all the trades that you can do them yourself.

  31. That's not the only problem. It's just the only problem you're allowed to cite in a country where any expression of pride in country or nation, in its history, accomplishments, values and traditions draws howls of accusations of 'white nationalism', or 'xenophobia' or 'racism'. You aren't allowed to say letting in tens of millions of immigrants from places with wildly different values and cultures without the time to absorb them will destroy any sense of shared identity or history. We're not allowed to care about our culture being washed away or to wonder or worry about what will replace it. Unless you're French, of course. Then you're encouraged to take pride in your unique identity and history and values and culture. But we've let the leftist ideologues take over our schools and universities, our media and artistic groups, even our museums to the point they all wallow in hand wringing guilt at everything about Canada's and the Western world's culture, values and history. Hell, our museums hate everything about Canada and are busy 'decolonizing' their collections, which means eliminating anything that even hints of any pride in our history. Our artistic groups and the government that funds them (they're all talentless welfare whores who couldn't fund a single book or movie without government cheques) spew out nothing but guilt-mongering stories designed to make anyone who isn't a member of a protected identity group feel ashamed of their existence. Our media is nothing but a pack of ideologues regurgitating every American progressive inspired platitude about race and society. And you'll find more truth and realism on the Disney channel than in our universities. Six years ago the Immigration department itself warned that Canada was reaching its 'absorbtive capacity' and that new immigrants weren't learning the language as much, were settling into ethnic enclaves more, weren't becoming in an way 'Canadian' because there were just too many of them and they were so regularly reinforced by more. And the Liberals said "who cares" and just upped the numbers more and more. And nobody complained because to care about Canada's culture and native values is, to the progressives who infest our cultural industries and media, akin to declaring your allegiance to Adolph Hitler. I suspect what our future culture and values are going to resemble is something closer to a mix of India, China and mainstream Islam. And the only good thing about that will be watching all the progressives' jaws drop as they start electing leaders who don't think anything about gay sex should be legal, that natives should just shut the hell up about the past and get to work, and that women should properly spend their time at home in the kitchen.

  32. Maybe PP can find a way to tone down the CBC's liberal / woke slant. A public broadcaster should be serving all Canadians, not just the liberal/woke/left. They are being funded by all Canadians. I don't know how it could be done, but it might require major changes. It would be difficult to change.

  33. The problem isn't really immigration or immigrants. It's that we don't have any where to put them or the resources to provide with health or proper integration into our society. Trudeau went too far too fast with that and didn't spend even a single second thinking about the problems it would cause. not JUST housing tho that's the worst - but also inflation in general. If more people are buying more things then it puts upward pressures on inflation.

  34. Sorry Dougie there is a lot of myths about they US offering Canada military equipment, a cite would make me a believer... Syrians did run T-72's But Egyptians were running M-1A1 at the time along with M-60A3 in their reserve... M1A1 tank coproduction program in Egypt - Wikipedia List of equipment of the Egyptian Army - Wikipedia US marines did initially bring over their M-60A3, but borrowed 60 M-1A1 off the army to operate for the war... TAB F -- DU Use in the Gulf War (health.mil) Canada's Leo I was purchased in 1977, in 1993 it was 16 years old and had yet to be upgraded, the fact that in 1993 4 CMBG was closing and being shipped back to Canada, may of been a factor i don't know. That being said the Leo 1C1 was designed to take on T-62/ 64, and although we had limited night vision capabilities we had still not upgraded to better optics until 1995. And yes there where shit tones of M-113 running around, most nations were also running IFV like the bradlys, warriors, that were doing most of the heavy lifting and fighting...but our M-113 were no match for Iraqi BMP's... Our fighting troops were second to none, one of the great benefactors of being in Germany was the training not only at section level but right up to corp's level... Lets also remember that not all those nations you mentioned were actually placed in fighting positions, or even near the front lines populated with Iraqi military...countries like Syria, Egypt, and many more, even the light equipped French were delegated to the flanks... Not to mention how would Canada get it's equipment down there, when everyone was scrambling to get there own shit there...planes and ships were booked up solid...Shit our F-18 were not upgraded to the latest comms so they could not talk to any of the coalition, we did not have any capability to drop anything but dumb bombs...the fact we did not even bring bombs is telling...I will say at the time were probably the best we have been equipped, once 4 Brigade was collapsed most of the good stuff was retired or sold off, or disbanded.... Look at 3 RCR it was regulated to a 10 /90 BN reserve BN most of the Reg force guys were transferred to 1 and 2 RCR... So i think in my opinion we were not ready or equipped for high intensity warfare, and would of been getting in the way of the war effort... Spin this judicial charade any way you like, your 'boy' Justin hid out because he wasn't 'leader' enough to meet with fellow Canadians on a 'one on one basis. 38. So - not undocumented. As you had previously claimed. But they were free to. They weren't being held at the schools against their wills. I have never said in the slightest that there weren't thousands of deaths. I never even commented on the number of deaths. Point to where i said that. I said of the deaths the vast vast majority were from TB. And that is true. And that is true of the children of MANY people during those times. Of the remaining - most of those were lost to Influenza. a small handful remain that weren't one of those causes. There sure aren't "thousands' of those. They all mention cause of death and gender. The rest is true, and is utterly terrible. Simply writing that 5 boys and 3 girls died is not acceptable and is a travesty. But that does not mean they were undocumented or somehow murdered. It means the gov't left everything to the church and didn't establish acceptable standards and thats bad - but not the same thing. Exactly - in fact that was true even into the 60's. And many of those 'gravesites' were right along side the gavesites of everyone else in the area. People like YOU need to LIE about people like me because the truth doesn't fit your narrative. I've never ever even once denied it - in fact if you go back in my posts i've said of course kids were buried there - what else were they going to do with TB bodies at the time, and it's a church as much as a school. You bury people at a church. OTHER people were buried there in many cases. I've never remotely hinted that there aren't kids buried at the schools. Sorry i don't fit your echo chamber. It did not come as news to me, nor did i bat an eyelash. But - it is one thing to say 'kids were buried at the schools'. Of course they were. The records are crystal clear, anyone knew anything about it knew that, it makes sense - what else were they going to do. It's another thing altogether to say "hey - WE JUST DISCOVERED THIS PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN THING WE'VE ALWAYS SUSPECTED AND THERE"S EXACTLY 211 BODIES WHICH IS MORE THAN THE DOCUMENTATION SAYS". Which is definitely the message the first nations and media put out. They knew it was a grave site - that's how they knew where to scan. THey have no idea how many actual graves there are - the radar doesn't see 'skeletons'. And the kids were documented. What they did - and what you are trying to do - is take a simple fact of life that as you say 'nobody batted an eye at' for over a century and turn it into a 'suddenly discovered tragedy' where children were apparently abducted at gun point, sexually tortured to death, buried without any regard and hidden from all records. That's every bit as disgusting as what the preists did. You should be ashamed of yourself.

  39. Indigenous status don’t pay taxes. Government services for Indigenous are paid by non-Indigenous. Any increase in funding comes from taxpayers. Of course the incentive for Indigenous voters is to vote for whatever party offers the most funding. Why are you referring to white people? Last I checked all non-Indigenous races pay taxes.

Does not matter if they were engaged like the rest of the coalition, the fact remains they did take part, and played a roll , a small roll, but at the time it was all we could play, Iraqi forces had much better equipment than we did, Canadian ground forces would have been a huge liability considering the equipment we had, outdated Leo I MBT, M113 APC's made in the 50's.

  43. Natives could leave reservations. Attending school was a choice. I thought it was otherwise, and I’m sure there were sketchy practices in some areas. The Indian Agent is indeed a problem. It shouldn’t be whitewashed. I agree that not having a vote was bad, but it goes hand in hand with the idea of being taken care of and not having to contribute any taxes (money) towards education, health, and property. It also goes with having “Indian status” that allows one to get these freebies, including some big ticket items like higher education. Not only can we say the American slogan, no taxation without representation; we can also say, no representation without taxation, because services require labour and have a cost, so if you want a vote, you should pay taxes. We have this Indian Act mess, but many Indigenous want to keep it. Maybe local bands can elect to opt out. If the decisions to make changes don’t come from natives, then we’ll always stand accused of oppression. However, if the demand is for more money, taxpayers have a right to question.

  45. Bullshit. First off - the two that died escaping were in fact well documented. as to the rest, who? Name names. Which children vanished and were unaccounted for and the schools said they 'just ran off' and there's no documentation at all. Lets hear the details of these mythical kids - you must have dozens and dozens as you make it sound like a pretty regular event. Which families were told that no information about their child would be given. Complete and utter bullshit on your part. Hell most of the kids went home for the summers. There are not massive amounts of unaccounted for children at all. They were in fact accounted for. Period. But what can we expect from the people who came up with 'unmarked mass graves'.
