  2. Justin Trudeau is the product of Pierre Trudeau's desire to make a federal State work. Like in 18th century Europe, he viewed a marriage as a State union. In the mid 1960s, Pierre Trudeau met the daughter of a BC federal Liberal bagman while both were on vacation in Tahiti - rich jet-setters. As Margaret's sister famously asked: "Why did he pick the crazy one?" ==== Our current PM is more like his mother than his father.

  3. I doubt it's honest to a tee, I also doubt it's always the deliberate liar you think much of it is all the time. I doubt it's even the big shadowy it as you seem to imagine it is - which is to say in cahoots with one another, the government, politicians, the Deep-state and freakin' aliens for all I know. I don't think it has a chance in hell of being accurate much of the time given how dishonest and evasive so many of the answers its given to report on are. With a paucity of any meaningful meat and potatoes to serve up it tries to make up the difference by spicing up the gravy with hooey it reads between the lines and into their stories. If its crap going in it'll be crap coming out of it. The most unconscionable bias they show is to their bottom line and profit margins.

  4. The perception of Canada outside the country has changed. Our government is perceived by mainstream western societies as overbearing, arbitrary, and largely in the hands of international political entities. Less democratic and sovereign than we used to be. It’s not a good look.

  8. Putin called the western idea of a "golden billion" neocolonialist and racist. The idea of complete western domination by the "golden billion" is racist and neo-colonial, which divides people into first-class and second-class, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday, speaking at the Strong Ideas for a New Time forum. "The model of western total domination, so called golden billions is unfair. Why would this 'golden billion' of all the population on the globe dominate everyone and impose their rules of behavior? Based on the illusion of exceptionalism, this model divides nations into first-class and second-class nations, so it is essentially racist and neo-colonial, while the globalist, allegedly liberal ideology that is at its base increasingly takes on the features of totalitarianism, hinders creative search and free historical creativity. , the Russian president emphasized. According to Putin, one gets the impression that the West simply cannot offer the world a model of the future. "Of course, this 'golden billion' became gold for a reason. She has achieved a lot. But not only did it occupy such positions thanks to some implemented ideas, but it largely occupied its positions by robbing other nations: in Asia, and in Africa," the head of state emphasized, "It really was like that. Look how India has been robbed”. Therefore, continued the Russian president, today the "golden billion" elites are panic-kingly afraid that other world centers can present their visions of global development.

  9. I guess a poll came out recently. Asking folks if they trusted the media, or in this case, newspapers and TV news. Only 16% of respondents said they have a lot of confidence in newspapers. 11% having a lot of confidence in TV news. Here’s a MSNBC anchor asking if they are doing more harm than good. First 5 seconds of the video, you can watch 5 seconds can’t you? And here’s a link to the Gallup poll. https://news.gallup.com/poll/394817/media-confidence-ratings-record-lows.aspx So to you liberal/left wingers that think this thread is nonsense because the MSM is doing just fine, wake the hell up.

  10. Your problem is you don't really look at how much CO2 Canada or the world puts into the atmosphere and how much the total CO2 is in the atmosphere. If you had paid attention or looked at the real figures, you would realize the claim of man-made climate change by CO2 is highly questionable. There is about 400 PPM of CO2 in the atmosphere. Man contributes about 3%. Of that 3%, Canada contributes about 1.5% of human CO2 emissions. What is 1.5% of 3%? It is so miniscule. It equates to 0.18 PPM. The total CO2 in the atmosphere is very small. It is just a trace gas. So where is the proof that man-made CO2 is having any impact on climate change? There is no evidence. But you still persist in your claim that it is causing rising temperatures. That is pure fiction.

  11. Which begs the question: Why is the Trudeau government continuing to require this vaccine for federal workers and truckers? Why is the discriminatory (against elderly and poor who don’t own smart phones or can’t work tech) ArriveCAN app required of travellers to Canada, including Canadians? It’s easier for Canadians to enter the US than it is for them to enter their own country. What’s wrong with this picture? How is the Canadian government getting away with stripping rights from Canadians? How propagandized and weakened has our public become?

  13. Trudeau was in over his head from Day 1. The really sad thing is that he was re-elected after it became apparent he wasn't much more than sparkle socks and a coiffure. That's a reflection on how shallow and lazy the Canadian voter is.

  14. This is where my thinking has changed. I used to agree with your perspective on the whole. The problem is that you can’t have double standards. Policies have to on the most part benefit everyone. That will often include the wealthy, whether or not that wealth is earned. We also know that high taxation and regulation tends to kill the golden goose that lays the jobs and tax revenues, though the best economic recipe is one that benefits small and medium sized businesses. Overspending and debt are now hurting everyone through inflation and higher interest rates, especially the poor, which is why fiscal conservatism is almost always a better long term policy. With regard to wokism, while I agree that sometimes the attacks on it are from racists, homophobes, etc., the fair and important criticism is that new forms of bias and oppression are being ushered in, such as putting representation ahead of competence. Most people, myself included, would agree that if two people are equally qualified for a position and one is a minority, and the organization doesn’t reflect the wider community, employ the minority. That’s different from promoting unqualified people and undermining meritocracy, which can only breed contempt and resignation. What’s more, much of our leadership may have worked their way up over decades when the community was whiter. Wokesters often make the mistake of judging the past through today’s lenses and values. There’s a de-emphasis on context and a tendency to rush to judgment or cancel opposing viewpoints. On the subject of “Trumpsters”, you can’t dismiss around 50% of the electorate as racist or backward just because they voted Trump. People voted for him for different reasons, including poor, working class, and minorities. One compelling argument as to why is that many people felt that Trump was honest about his motives, while many left-wing politicians say all the progressive things but live like fat-cat elitists. They’re great at rhetoric. It’s important to remember the historic alliances of the parties. The Dems were KKK supporters who are now woke champagne socialists. The Republicans were actually the emancipators who now are seen as pro business and traditional values. I no longer see our NDP and Liberal parties as the voices of workers and the middle class. I see them as self-preserving elitist hypocrites who know how to say the right things to get elected. I also think they have superficial notions of what progress means. They’re like the irritating activist university student who needs to get a real job and get out of the ivory tower to see how most people actually live and to feel their pain. The Liberals used to be quite good in that respect, as in the days of Chrétien.
