Your opinion and my opinion. A world wide health pandemic has changed the political complexion of every country in the world. I am truly hoping that you are wise enough to realize Canada is not a solitary nation in this pandemic. All countries had one level of precaution or another. Some more so than others but no country was without action. Each country had to make judgment based upon their population and level of health care. Did some do more? For sure. Did some do less? For sure. Were some populations pissed off with the actions? For sure. Were some populations happy with the actions? For sure. Which one was right? Point is that be it liberal, conservative, communist, Marxist or dictatorship, they all did something that they felt was best for their own country and population. it is hopefully done. Beating a dead virus is now meaningless. As for being a threat to a country, I suspect that other than communist and dictatorships, all leaders are or have pissed off the population in the past few years. Seems a minuscule population group on this forum cannot move on.2 points

Yes just go along with politically motivated prosecutions. Never speak out about governments abusing the legal system. Remain quiet as leftists push sick policies and make the country unpalatable to live. Watch as leftist politicians abuse your fellow Canadians over a personal medical decision. I've honestly never been one for politics but after watching Trudeau et al turn this country into a clown show I have no choice. He's a disgrace. Families ripped apart because of his B.S. Employees of several decades let go or forced to go without pay over their decision not to take an injection. The man's a joke. And quite frankly I'm disgusted by the number of people who cheer it on2 points

OK. I have to go back and check what the contents of the oath were, so I know which parts I have decided to disregard if any. From what I remember I swore to follow the laws of the country which I did and still do. I was also told it is my obligation to vote. I do that, but since the choices are limited and the parties do what they want, not what they promise, it seems a total waste of my time. We need to make all government officials take that oath and if they are found in violation of it - kicked out with no pension.1 point

Yes I am. Don’t care. Prove me wrong. You can’t. You don’t know where C-19 came from either. Let me guess, a pangolin? Lol. Just ignore the Chinese couple that moved between the Manitoba and the Wuhan viral research labs, whose firings the Canadian government refuses to explain. All of that means nothing. Get back to your rainbows and unicorns — and pangolin-loving wet market bats, because that makes perfect sense. Lol1 point

Sure grab the illegal ones too. But the concentration of both legal and illegal guns in the US is so saturated. That's why they experience so much gun crime relative to the rest of the world.1 point

Ok I see you changed it from 'Canada is the only country restricting freedoms to travel for unvaccinated people. ' I have no complaint against your revised statement.1 point

Are you aware of what Canada's restrictions are for unvaxxed? It seems like you are not. This is what I find frustrating here sometimes - a person who just wants to disagree for the sake of disagreeing, quickly googles an article that seems to say what they want it to say and VOILA! proof. You probably should have read the article closer and made yourself aware of what the differences are in Canada. We are the only ones in the world with the restrictions we have in place for unvaxxed citizens. It's one of the reasons the protests are continuing.1 point

So many? Or are you presenting what you believe is an exception to prove the rule? And I think you may be over-selling the guns you believe were on the street during Saddam's reign:1 point

You're no more Libertarian than those progs on the Conservative leadership thread pretending to be concerned an actual Conservative might gain control of the party are Conservatives. Cruz was not talking about "cops everywhere." A libertarian would have understood the distinction between protecting the public and "cops everywhere."1 point

Of course, you can. Start here: How China flooded the U.S. with lethal fentanyl, fueling the opioid crisis But fentanyl is not the only drug or even the major drug associated with mass shootings. I mention it only for the harm it's been doing to youth.1 point

If that really bothered you, you'd be pushing for fentanyl controls before you worried about anything else.1 point

People in other countries have antidepressants and pandemic isolation. In fact more social isolation than a place like Texas with fewer lockdowns and pandemic restrictions. More distractive nonsense from Tucker “Putin Propagandist” Carlson.1 point
-
Well, there is another possibly determining factor here. Drugs: Could SSRI Antidepressants Be One of the Causes Behind These Mass Shootings? Tucker Carlson: Following Texas school shooting and Buffalo tragedy, leaders should ask this question And another possible influencer in the recent flux of incidents may be social isolation out of the pandemic.1 point

Come on Queen are you suggesting the liberals are serious about climate change, Yes they have put a price on carbon, and then they give it back to the taxpayers "hoping/ praying " it reduces fossil fuel usage... and here we are with fuel 3 times the price and we are still going about our business, we are paying more for everything... there is very little investment from the government " considering they did declare a climate emergency" we did spend 450 bil on covid ... I did not mention NDP or green as their plans do tackle climate change in a serious matter, it comes at a price, and living in the dark would be one of them... The experts can not come up with a definite time frame when climate change endangers all humankind. Some say it is already too late, others say 20 years or more... remember the massive panic Y2K caused due to experts' opinions, I'm not saying climate change is not true, I'm saying that the info we are being provided is not accurate, and is a little bit misleading. Despite all of that, we are attempting to cut off our nose despite our face, when the major polluters are not or will not be participating in these drastic changes that most western nations are taking. and without their participation, we are NOT going to make our global goals. There needs to be a reasonable approach to this issue, Ukraine's war and covid is showing us just how much the global supply chain is affected by one or two nations. we have enough fuel supply to insulate ourselves from any outside interference, and yet we choose not to, because of fringe groups within and outside of Canada. Fossil fuels is our number one resource, that drives our economy, without it where do you see us in the future? when so many other countries are miles ahead of us in green tech or green energy. So is the left more intelligent than the right, no by no means, what all the parties have shown to date that all of us could not figure out how to get out of a wet paper bag, and we are more than happy to cherry-pick other nations solutions good or bad. We like to puff out our chests and point to the world look at us go " remember "we are back" address to the UN... yes they are still waiting for that sign or action that would point world opinion in that direction.1 point

I agree 100 %, and am all for nuclear energy or any other type of energy that is carbon-free, but we either refuse to look at them, or we don't have the will to support a massive move like this. although the liberals did sink some cash into NLFD hydro project, a little too late mind you it is an investment. we should also be working on getting this power to the rest of the maritime provinces before Quebec steals that project as well. This could be an excellent use of all those carbon taxes we are paying.1 point

Furthermore, the reactions are the same in free countries. Googling will show you protests in France, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, as well as our closest partners the US and UK. And the impacts of the large events of the last few years have also been similar. The one thing I hope we can do in Canada is start to separate the wheat from the chaff in terms of "public" criticism of government. More people are being exposed to it via social media, and I hope they are starting to see the difference between baseless conspiracy-mongering and actual criticism. The governments that try to court the mongerers will find that they have zero loyalty (eg. Doug Ford) and are better off ignoring bad criticism.1 point

This is May. Debates are all over. Isn't the leadership vote in September? A lot of crap can happen between now and then. This leadership stuff is not even worth talking about now. So much will change between now and then we should archive this thread and bring it back up end of August. This marathon of a leadership race will just make people tired of the conservatives. Will just help Justin LOL1 point

the average Canadian is simply delusional as to what the purpose of Canada is Canada was Confederated for one reason in the face of the Glorious Union, the British were simply not going to fight to defend Canada from America so the British told their colonists here that they were on their own for all intents & purposes the colonies would have to group together to defend themselves against the Americans most Canadians opposed it vehemently at the time, they knew what it meant back then Canada was being kicked out of the British Empire, Canada was being abandoned but when the British Empire collapsed in the First World War, everybody was kicked out of the Empire Canada was essentially sold to the Americans for gold the British signed their Canadian dependant over to the Americans in effect, because the British were broke now Canada is run by the Americans as a vassal state in essence the provinces actually cut each other's throats in a competition for access to the American market Canada is defended by Fortress America, Canada is not capable of defending itself so Canada really serves no purpose at this point, Canada is obsolete the Canadians who have an emotional attachment to Canada, generally don't even know what Canada is thus how the Liberals can so easily impose their Post National State to replace Canada and most of these supposed Canadian super patriots can't even tell the difference1 point

Bullshit, his entire life becomes public once elected to office, and people in the public light are held accountable for each discrepancy just like any person declared public. Do you think Johnny dep wants his past marriage made public...does he have a choice? Not only is the man or woman going to be judged in Canada but around the world as well. And yet others have been canceled due to rumors', The General that was handling the logistics of Covid, The alleged incident happened 30 plus years ago, it to was not proven and still is not proven, and yet his reputation and career are over. Or take a look at the Vice CDS an Admiral who was fired and his career destroyed over a rumor and allegation. I'm sure if I took some more time to research there are many more cases just like this one. But I get it the PM has different rules. Every government should be held accountable for its actions, you see it as hate, and maybe some of it is, but you can't compare any PM with Justin. And i do believe that things should be done differently, and better results should be not expected but demanded. I mean this is the highest office in our nation and Canadians barely pay attention to the happenings going on in Ottawa, or have become numb to it. NAFTA was not the big of a win, in fact, we lost ground on several items, and let's not even mention the aluminum thing, and Covid it was not a win , at best a tie, there are plenty of things that could have been handled better...I'm sure everyone could list at least ten things that had gone south.1 point

Ok, let me ask for comparison - did you think Harper's security measures were worse or not as bad?1 point

The thing is, if bail would have been denied, you would have come on here and said we were on the verge of a dictatorship. Bail was not denied, and she was set free with restrictions loosened. And yet here you are still screaming hysterically that there's a dictatorship coming. Oh well... If you notice, I didn't decry the ruling. I stand by the courts, the very same ones that gave you the ruling that you for some reason are unhappy with. I guess he would just rather her stay in jail. Let's face it, you're just never happy.1 point

So you cackling gaggle of the gun grabbers' chicken littles have been convinced you can save America with stricter gun laws... This last mass shooting happened in Texas so the instigators of gun grabbing hysterics jumped on it, screed and pointed fingers at the 2nd amendment: And because gun laws in Texas are lax you cheerfully bought in. Let's ignore the fact the kid was nuts - cutting his face up with knives, offering cryptic social media warnings and the 2 mass shootings before this one were in New York which has strict gun laws. And speaking of strict gun laws would you like to talk about the American shootings capital of Chicago which has among the strictest gun laws in North America. But I'm listening. Which gun laws precisely were you wanting to bring in federally that you believe will save America?1 point

This people aren't even political. They see only heroes and villains as though they learned about life from action movies. It's depressing to share a forum with them. As was pointed out by Beaver - Republicans ruled Florida (and the USA for 6 terms or 24 years since 1980) so what is this idea that Democrats have some secret grip on power. But ultimately talking to them is, unfortunately, a way to pass the time. Like asking a child where the stars come from the answer is at least amusing...1 point

The lowering of standards to include not just women but others not fit enough or previously not acceptable is definitely a problem. Not justi in the Military though. Standards have been lowered all over to include those that should not be there and that has jeopardized others within the same job. There was, at one time, women joining or applying for positions just because they could. Many did not last long at all such as those in the infantry, or even fighter pilots. I had many come into Air Force trades, many succeeded in the avionics end of the trades as the jobs we primarily in shops and indoors but in the aviation trades where the work was deployments, outdoors and heavy lifting, they all (not all but many) dwindled away. Quota hiring never made things better, just more difficult for those remaining.1 point

I already defended Canada and all it did was stab my brothers in the back I have no love left for Canada I obey the law, I pay my taxes, I take care of my neighbours, my coworkers, my local community but otherwise, I wouldn't cross the street to piss on Canada if it was on fire I have become a Sovereignist with the Quebecois nationalists now, by Canada's default1 point

What more strength do you need? Nuclear weapons? As I said, the Canadian politicians have ensured there is no nation in Canada, so what do you want to protect now? And who do you think you need to fight? Russia? They have enough land and would not invade us unless we did something drastically stupid and suicidal. They actually had so much land that they gave some to the USA - the whole of Alaska with all of its gold. We, the whole world, need to reduce our fighting power and weapons not militarize more!1 point
-
I thought I answered your question already. No. Because as I said we give everything away without a fight and we have no nation to protect, as apparently everyone is looking after the interests of themselves and their original nation.1 point

Right ? It's a pile on of people just repeating buzzwords like "Democrat Marxists" "Wokism" Zero context, zero analysis and generally unprincipled low-intellect contributions... This is why Trudeau will win a 4th term - people can't offer an alternative that rises above name calling...1 point

I'm a Nationalist because I love this country thus need to oppose the selling out of our natural wealth to globalists. As for the discussion about Canadian military contributions to the world wars... We don't need to justify ourselves to anyone...let alone Yankees. In fact...agree with them. "You are correct. Canada is insignificant and had no impact on the wars. You would hate it here...so save yourself and don't come." Have a great day Canada.1 point
-
Everyone should be a nationalist and believe in a strong military to protect their country and like-minded countries. All we have to do is look at the Ukraine and other countries in Europe to know that. A strong military is the best deterrent to people like Putin and his supporters. This has nothing to do with violent rightists. The problem in Canada is the left wing pacifists like the NDP and Liberals who oppose a strong military.1 point

Even though the US was over two years late to the party and had to be attacked first, (even Hitler declared war on the US first) it can be justifiably proud of its contributions when it finally did arrive. What I don't understand is the arrogance and contempt for the contributions of others. Is it a national trait or just plain ignorance?1 point

You're drawing the line between ethnic and civic nationalism and that in itself is valid. However when you attempt to infer that you have the key to which is more valid as a definition and from that attempt to make nationalists necessarily "national socialists" GA becomes correct. moreover, my family came to the Americas when Canada was still France my ancestor, Jacob Smith, press ganged at Liverpool into the Royal Navy jumped ship at Halifax harbour in 1757, during the Seven Years War so we are British North Americans was George Washington who incited the Seven Years war, by attacking the French at Jumonville Glenn in 1754 so George Washington is the father of both my nations, as a Canadian-American, or American-Canadian my two nations don't actually get along, they are in fact each other's oldest enemies so I am caught between two nations perpetually in conflict with each other at the end of the day, I am an Orangeman of Upper Canada so Upper Canada, otherwise known as Southern Ontario, is my de facto country, within the Confederation Palmam qui meruit ferat1 point

I raised to be a Canadian Nationalist but as I studied Canadian history, the Canadian Nationalist position became nonsensical because Canada is not a unitary state Canada is the only Confederation of the British Empire not one nation, but rather a collection of nations united only by the British Crown an east west federation of British Colonies to keep the French in, the Americans out & the Indians down thus I ceased to be a Canadian Nationalist, as that position does not stand up to logic I had to go much further back to find my nation to the Glorious Revolution of 1688 to the founding of Parliamentary Supremacy, the Bill of Rights, and the first modern liberal state therein House of Orange1 point
