  1. They are conspiracy folk who don't understand the way the world works. Engage with them only if you are bored and unable to find valuable conversations. These discussions should be considered separate from serious ones.

  2. I favour Charest and Mulroney and even Trudeau Snr. ====== Charest - make no mistake - built a bridge, an interchange, a metro. Mulroney created the GST and negotiated free trade. He almost did Meech. Trudeau Jnr? He legalised pot.

  4. The only anti-Canadian rhetoric I see comes from the people who refer to Canada as an authoritarian state, a fascist state, a failure as a country. Those remarks from from people who call themselves conservative, although personally I think they're conservative extremists and not real conservatives.

  5. Why are you so enamoured with American media? For Conservative leaning media, you have the Globe and Mail and the National Post. To balance that off, there is the Toronto Star. For an international view, I read the online edition of NRK (Norwegian Television). NRK is always the first and best. If Pierre Poilievre sneezes, you can read about it on NRK before he wipes his nose. Be careful not to confuse Social Credit/Reform/rebulican with Conservative. The former is the party of Lincoln with a hard pro-American bent and currently exists as a virus infecting the CPC. The Conservative party is the party of Sir John A. MacDonald.

  6. Clearly Canadians are over-mothered by the state. They generally want to be told what to do if it means walking off a cliff. This is what happens when people stop thinking for themselves and forget how hard-won freedom is. The citizenry are now watching their government literally strip away rights, but they won’t question government. Eyeball, Moonbox, Jack9000, and a few other recent posters will eat whatever shit government doles out and fear any opposition to the government narratives purveyed on government-funded media. They’ll mock peaceful protesters who get their heads kicked in by government if government says it’s for public safety. I think the Liberals will probably get re-elected and the increasingly enslaved population will pat themselves on the back as they lose rights. The vax passports and testing requirements are the cruel joke on Canadians. People are realizing too late that their own government is keeping them hemmed in like any communist dictatorship. I’m only in Canada for my kids and work at this point. I don’t like it here now. I need to be in a free society. Listening to posters on here rationalize government oppression and ridicule the opposition just confirms why I’m losing faith in the Canadian nation-state.

  7. Funny how intelligent, thought-provoking people like Dr Peterson, Joe Rogan, Tucker Carlson et al face cancel culture daily but a high school dropout like Greta Thunberg is accepted as a climatologist and race relations expert by the MSM.

  12. Yet, oddly, before vaccines, when mask wearing was a thing, there was almost no flu. When mask mandates were removed during times of low transmission, transmission increased. Just two weeks ago, the UK removed it's mask mandate, and now cases have skyrocketed. There've been studies showing the relative effectiveness of various masks, and turns out ... most of'em offer some protection - not for the wearer so much as those around them. Even just looking at what has happened in the real world - without any supporting studies - demonstrates that masks definitely provide some benefit. So, you are wrong. As is Goddess and the rest of you who believe anything "alternative" media tells you.

  14. So,,,,,war in the Ukraine. I will be puzzled for years to come how Putin made such a bad gamble. One thing good about the globalist world we live in, is that rogue states are severely punished by the market place. I am one of those that believes in the correcting action of the market place instead of wielding the clumsy hammers of the state. Each day that passes now is one more day that Putin digs Russia's own grave.

  17. Does it bother you when are being judged? Do you react to it or the words constantly circles around your mind? Instead of giving that privilege to a third person, we must think and analyze for ourselves. Overcome your sensitive spots, focus on intent, avoid a person's anxiety to become yours, don't let judgement define you, don't be an ignorant - but respond with caution and sportily. There may not be a hell or heaven after death, but what matters is to create our own heaven with our emotions and closed ones while we are still breathing.

  18. Lemme see, CBC, CTV, Global. Local news, ABC,NBC,CBS, CNN, Fox, PBS, BBC, Hill Times, Blacklock and quite a few others. You see, I am not narrow minded and listen to lots of varied broadcasts and opinions and somewhere in there will be some truth and facts. What I do not pay any attention to are podcasters (left or right), blatantly biased political media such as True North or Rebel Media.

  20. If you want to know what an actual totalitarian state is like: Stalin was giving a speech in a theatre. In the middle of his speech, somebody sneezed. Stalin paused..."Who sneezed?" Nobody said a word. He had the first row taken out and he resumed speaking until the clatter of machine guns could be heard. Stalin paused again..."Who sneezed?" Dead silence. The second row was taken out and shot. The same happened to the third row when nobody fessed up. Stalin paused, leaned over the podium and asked, "For the final time, who sneezed?" A man in the fifth row and tearfully replied, "It was I, Comrade Stalin." Stalin nodded and relied, "Guzuntite," and continued with his speech. My point is that what would have occured if someone tossed gravel at Stalin? You people who bang on about dictatorship and totalitarinism don't have a clue. You are living in one of the best countries in the world. Try living in Florida where the schools are censered by the Governor or other states where women's rights to reproductive choice have been strped away. Look at states where a teacher can prosecuted for teaching evolution. You are whining because you have to wear a damn mask and get a vaccine.

  21. yeah, there may be a populist revulsion against China, but the people in charge are still on their Payroll. The USA is basically a fiefdom of China with all its players in Congress winning with keeping status quo in China. The Bidens make way too much cashola to turn against China. And the LPC is a client agency of the Chi Coms.

  22. No I don't, like you I've come to realize there's something wrong with Canadians, they're hesitant to know what's going on behind closed doors. Take your own adamance against my suggestion we outlaw in-camera lobbying for example. You want nothing to do with it. You haven't got a clue what's going on and apparently you don't want one. Now I involve myself in local governance so as to keep an ear as close to the ground as possible to see and hear what's coming down the pipe so I can prepare for it.

  23. Yes it's a threat if we adopt the bad political practices of rogue nations just to appeal to them. The greatest globalist failure is China. We were promised she would mend her ways and that has not occurred. The idea that the PM or POTUS is to put the needs of other nations above its own citizens is another casualty.

  24. I will ask again: "Show me a country that is not "authoritarian? One that has no laws, rules, regulations, punishment, penalties or standards? " and "prove me wrong" It actually is no wonder Conservatives do not win elections when there people like you blowing their horns. A real shame because the conservative mantra could and should be good for Canada but Trumpism has fully laid down amongst conservatives.

  25. I think you’re a Chinese operative. I want and value religious freedom and traditions for all, as enshrined in the Constitution. Muslims, Jews, Christians, etc. should be able to celebrate their faith traditions and family milestones unthreatened by a state that has deemed religious practices non-essential. I have no interest in your green-alarmist, vapid, nihilist, post-national, communist BS. Stay away from the CPC that has already been compromised almost to the point of nullification. Continue to fear affordable life and liberty. Canada may be a write-off, and it’s views like yours that illustrate why.

  26. You want to just sulk and rage like children. Tantrums are what you offer to Canadian political discourse. Woke-green totalitarian fascist blah blah blah. It's nothing but populist sloganeering and hyperbole. What we want is a CPC grounded in reality. We'd like to see an opposition party that isn't rooted in discontent, outdated religious tradition and retarded conspiracy theories. We're looking for a party that supports and listens to science and experts but, unlike the Liberals, not at all costs. There's no denying that Canada's Green Energy initiatives have been disastrous and that Trudeau/Biden have egg on their face over pipelines, but that doesn't mean climate change is a hoax. The vaccine mandates probably went too far and for too long, but that doesn't mean that COVID was a conspiracy either. There's an abyssal gap between Trudeau's disastrous leadership and what further-right elements of the CPC want to see - the 44% of the party's supporters that would prefer to see Donald Trump back in the White House. 56% of the rest of them would prefer Biden, despite his failings, and you can guarantee that most of the rest of Canada feels even more strongly about that. If Pierre Poilievre thinks that courting a polarizing 44% of a ~35% portion of the voting population is his path to leadership, good luck with that. The math isn't looking too hot. ?

  27. What you don’t seem to appreciate is that most Americans are freaking out about the state of the country and the world right now. They’re watching the cost of living skyrocket under an anti-oil and gas regime that, like our government, obsesses over Identity politics and use of preferred pronouns while Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and China make carefully plotted moves to further their perceived interests. It will be a GOP landslide in November. Whether or not it’s Trump heading the GOP by the time presidential elections roll around, the next president will likely be Republican. I wasn’t a Trump fan but we didn’t have hyperinflation, wars, or race baiting under Trump. I’d far rather live in that world. At least they have an alternative in the US. If Canadians fear Polievre, who hasn’t said anything remotely racist or politically dangerous, then we know where we’ll probably land come election time. However, Canada in that case will be seen as another Cuba, an outlier leftist dictatorship. Your opinions that you think are conservative are Liberal as far as I can tell. I also think your opinions are the norm in Canada, so I’m not sure we’ll restore a centrist government and healthy opposition. It will be more apology parades, pay-outs to designated victim groups, implementation of universal basic income, vax passes, reduction of freedoms, exorbitant fuel prices induced by continued green crusades. etc. People will continue to have their liberty and finances squeezed to solve the “global climate crisis” and “public health crisis.”

  29. Honestly I doubt it. He'll certainly never admit it. These are what you figure the big voices of our time? Come on. Trudeau fucked up and his credibility is shot, but saying Canada is on its way to becoming "authoritarian" is silly. The Emergencies Act was a huge mistake and everyone should rightly reject Trudeau for that, but it does not signal the end of Canadian democracy. Beating Trudeau in the next election should be easy based on that alone...unless you embrace Trumpism which is what Pierre Poilievre is doing. The 46% of CPC supporters that think Trump should be the next US President is what's going to scare the rest of the electorate away, and those are the folks who Poilievre is courting, instead of the 54% who rightly see Orange Man as a walking catastrophe. Primary among them being Donald Trump and his supporters.

  40. No they are straight out of the Geneva convention... If a person is declared a civilian , and he picks up a weapons' he becomes an unlawful combatant ....which is not only illegal to be and can be tried as a war crime, ... , but they become a legitimate military target where all or any force or weapon system can be used upon... This law exists to protect innocent civilians not taking part in the conflict...Ukraine has tried to solve this by making most of them military forces , which gives it's soldiers access to the conventions...that being said they must be in some sort of uniform or wear some type of markings to id them as soldiers or combatants...but if you just a civilian throwing cocktails or have a weapon your free game, open to arrest or targeted... Something to also note Russia with drew from following the Geneva conventions so most of them don't really apply. Unless you have proof of a crime that will stand up in a court of law...most war criminals do not face justice for this reason...

  45. Russian Canadians. My biggest client is a 47 year old woman born and raised in Russia (she fled). I think she's the bee's knees and most people who meet her agree. She's not feeling any hate anywhere. As for "contempt" for actual Russians, it's not even that. It's contempt for and rejection of Putin's Russia. People around the world are cheering for and worried about Marina Ovsyannikova, who held up a sign protesting the war in Ukraine during a live broadcast of Russia's state-run news. She's now disappeared and nobody knows where she is. If shunning Russians for invading Ukraine is racist or discriminatory, what do you call invading a sovereign nation and killing its people? Outside of actively engaging in the conflict, the only way the west can help Ukraine is isolating its aggressors as they have been.
