Canada is truly the land of milk and honey isn't it?Apparently it doesn't say much for the vetting process(what vetting process?) for people from that hate-filled part of the world.I keep thinking of the idiotic Liberal phrase,"A Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian!".It's all about political correctness,progressive thinking and nothing to do with common sense or right or wrong. It's truly shameful.

The Clinton administration is responsible for giving nukes to North Korea, and the Obama administration is responsible for giving nukes to Iran. Anyone who wears the badge of a liberal/democrat/progressive has to develop denial regarding these outcomes. This is what the lead up to WWII must have been like when Chamberlain got Hitler to sign a treaty and then declared "peace in our time". Either one of these countries, perhaps Trump could deal with. But the both of them, along with China's Island land grabs and Russia's Syrian adventures will prove too much. Europe is toothless. The left in the US is dragging down Trump and would rather see his presidency failed(and their country brought lower than it's ever been) than see Trump create any kind of lasting peace. In mulling over the comments made by Goodale at the press conference, one thing sticks out for me. We know that the Supreme Court did not put a dollar figure on the compensation to be paid to Khadr. Goodale stressed that agreeing to the negotiated compensation was done because not doing so could have resulted in the court setting a higher amount, perhaps $20M, the amount claimed by Khadr and his lawyers. Here's my question: how does Goodale know that the court would not have set the compensation at a much lower amount than $10.5M? How does Goodale know the court would have awarded the maximum claimed by the plaintiffs? Or, is it that the government does not have confidence in their lawyers to properly argue the case before the courts. Bottom line, I would have more respect for the Liberals had they enabled the process of compensation to go forward in court. At least the Liberals could have said "We tried to get the best financial outcome possible." Seems to me most Canadians would have responded well.

You wanna know what Jacee? I've been to FN ceremonies..and actually participated in them too. They were in larger areas, cities. They were on reserves that were adjacent to cities and they were great events. I've also been on many reserves that were remote, upwards of Bella Bella, and on up to Prince Rupert and the Metacatla reserve. They had nothing, nothing that even remotely resembles culture. If you think the people of Attawapaskat and such are enjoying or expressing their culture more than the FN's in Tsawassen, Osoyoos or near some other actual city you're dead wrong - and of course you are. I've seen more FN's culture near cities where they can actually survive...no thrive. What do you envision happening on these remote reserves? Do you envision daily ceremonies, the medicine man, hunting parties, traditional bone fishing, women sewing animal hyde shoes, "Dances with wolves" style Buffalo Hunt, stories of how grandfather is now a great bear or whale? Yeah, I've watched the CBC too. Reality is; these people have lost nearly all culture already. They live in construction trailers (portables like we complain the schools sometimes get) and if they have a wooden house, chances are, they've removed the walls for firewood, then junked the insulation. Their food is either frozen or in a can, their water sucks. They can't fish or hunt their traditional way, they can barely do it the modern way. These people would not survive a winter in the northern provinces or on the prairie without government help. I wont get into the drugs, alcohol, abuse, corruption, rape, molestation etc again. My point is simply that bringing them into society, might be the best thing for them and their "culture".

Screw school. I wouldn't waste my time going back to any school here in Canada. It was Canada's fault that we didn't organize with the US for Khadr be returned home to Canada much sooner and punished, or at the very least demand he be confined in a humane US detention facility on American soil under US constitutional law as a Canadian citizen, with the humane treatment and due process of the law that comes with that. Instead our gov was complicit in continuing his inhumane detention & treatment as an "enemy combatant" (which is a label used so the US doesn't have to live up to the Geneva Conventions) in the hellhole that was gitmo. Gitmo is located where it is specifically to avoid US & international law so they can treat the prisoners like hell. Where was his right to habeas corpus? They let him rot in there for far too long without being tried in court. Khadr and his family are a bunch of scumbags, and we can hate them all we want, but we didn't treat Khadr and his case properly. Given he was a child at the time, and was a Canadian citizen, we owed him that much, we owed him the basic legal rights as a prisoner that any mass murderer or rapist or serial pedophile in Canada (or the US) are entitled to.
