  1. The question is how much Trump's foreign policy will be influenced by the neo-cons, who are tied to the Israeli Right. The same people who pushed for the Iraq war.

  4. First educate yourself. The Missile tests are DEFENSIVE (and so are the Russian S-300 air defense missiles they received and Israel and US of A prevented their delivery until lately) not offensive. They will likely be used only AFTER an Israeli offensive. It has been something that all these years has prevented Israeli war mongers who have no consideration for civilian lives (as long as it is not a Jewish life) from attacking Iran or its nuclear facilities as they did with Iraq, Syria and the raids they have done in the past against civilian targets in Lebanon and elsewhere in ME. While Israel was allowed to develop nuclear weapons over past many years in secret Iran is not allowed to even develop a defensive missile system something that the west and US of A are planning to do against potential North Korean nuclear weapons? Is this Hypocrisy or bigotry towards Iran? If there is a love for Iran is because some educated people and those aware of history know Iran is an underdog compare to US and Israel and that Iranian people are the victims of US aggression (starting with US sponsored military coup in Iran in 1953 overthrowing democratically elected government and continued decades after) and they have met Iranians in their lives (one million Iranians in US alone) and they know unlike what has been pictured by Israeli and US intelligence/media they are not hateful, bearded fanatics with hate towards western culture but rather peace loving westernized highly educated friendly individuals who are victims themselves by both sides and being victimized again and again and again and again..............

  5. Agreed....Trudeau can get a lot more mileage out of standing up to Trump on any issue. This has long been the Canadian tradition vs. U.S. presidents. The opposite is not so true since most Americans don't really care and are indifferent. "Border security" cuts at the very relationship of two bordering nations, as in good fences make for good neighbours.

  6. A parade of that size would need both a permit, and a security plan involving hundred of Toronto police to provide a secure and safe environment. If I was a Toronto taxpayer, I would be very uneasy about providing substantial public funds in support of a group that is so overtly heterophobic , bigoted and intolerant as the Gay pride organizers.

  7. If that's the case the mods should present us with the MLW approved version of history so we can proceed from there. Otherwise they should follow or stay out of the way.

  9. You may not want to accept it....but yes, Trump is dictating the terms upon which the borders will remain easily accessible to Canadians and trade! Why do you think Trudeau brought up, "looking to improve our immigration system?" Why would our immigration system suddenly needs improvement, when all this time Trudeau's been touting our success with immigration? The rest of your argument is irrelevant. It's not an all-Muslim ban....since other Muslim nations have not been banned. Now, back to topic.

  10. That may or may not be true, but I can't recall a 'people' being made up with the sole agenda of stealing land or starting wars with another people.

  11. Personally, I think that most Canadians should stay away from politics altogether because most of them appear to know nothing at all about politics. Canada would not last five minutes in a war against Russia. After three weeks of the Trump presidency, the Canadian fake media cannot get away from constantly talking and attacking every day against Trump. Thank gawd for Trump otherwise our Canadian would have nothing to talk about. We have many juicy stories that need to be brought up about Canadian political corruption going on but the Canadian media still prefers to talk about Trump. Keep the sheeple busy listening to non eventful stories, and keep them from learning what is really going on. It's the Canadian way.

  19. I understand black people's fear of cops, I understand BLM's protest. But it's also a good thing to include cops in these events because it exposes police to the LGBT community, and exposes the LGBT to the police community. The more they interact and understand each other, the less fear and division they will share between each other. Cops really need to be exposed to different communities in ways where they aren't just working the beat. That said, it's mostly only gay cops who would be in the parade anyways, so they're already a part of that community, the homophobic cops would just want to stay home the day of Pride. Like Rob Ford did. This is an issue really between Pride & the LGBT community and BLM, I'll let them settle it.

  24. What meds, prescribed by who? You figure schizophrenics just diagnose themselves and purchase anti-psychotics off the shelf like it was cough medicine or something? The Sun is completely full of shit and so is anyone who peddles it. It's as simple as that. I have to say the arguments that have been presented so far here today in the case against Will Baker are about as lame and flat out wrong as it gets around here. Maybe everyone's waiting to see if Rona Ambose can come up with something more substantive than than it "doesn't seem right". OTOH Ambrose is probably casting about for a better argument too and "it just feels wrong" is about the best thing she's hearing bubbling up from the right-wing base she represents, I guess it would be a little unseemly to cite things like the prescriptions for lead to the head or the lol's and yuks about the eating habits of schizophrenics, whattya think? I have to say conservatism is just about the nastiest challenge the mentally ill have to overcome.

  27. It shows how little you know and understand. Seriously did you post above? In 1980 Iran military was non-existence as per massive executions of it Generals, massive post-revolutionary dismissals, and near civil war that followed the 1979 revolution not to mention military sanctions and lack of spare parts, training and military exercise by the air force and army in general. You compare Iran's army today some 40 years later with then. Seriously!!!!!!!!! As I said a limited military strike on iran will only worsen everything for everyone. It won't achieve anything but devastation.
    1 point
  28. You are wrong. Israelis have proven that they attack only if the enemy is defenseless. They made a lot of noises and threatened many attacks on Iran past many decades but they never went further than talk (unlike Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine,....) why because they were aware Of Iran's military ability to strike back real hard. We are talking about a limited strike by US. It will have NO positive effect only makes everything worse and much more dangerous for everyone. It will not result in regime change in Iran to the contrary will strengthen the hands of hard liners and then it would likely create a war between Iran and other regional powers like Saudis and Israel and God knows what else will follow. ps - This forum has become so difficult to edit a post!!!!!

  29. Hard for you to understand that the past may predict the future especially when it comes to similarities. Anyhow it would be a grave mistake for the US to go alone in war with a regional superpower.
    1 point
  30. It is NOT off topic as it relates to possible future actions by US against Iran. Now Iran situation is very different with USSR. Intimidation and war mongering will have a totally opposite effect and will move them AWAY from any negotiation. There are at least two governments in Iran and the hard line one prays for confrontation with US as they have been losing to moderates recently. What worked on Soviets will not work on Iran but have the opposite effect.

  31. Reagan too did a lot of tough talking before he became president but he was the one who actually started negotiating with Soviet Union. It is one thing talking tough during campaign and another to act during presidency.

  32. Any limited military strike on Iran will likely have devastating consequences for the region and the US of A itself if not the whole world. Trump administration must think long and hard and not to jump into rush or emotional decisions that may well result in total devastation of the region and the world. And this is not a speculation.

  34. Again you are stereotyping without any proof to back up your comments. That is pure generalisation and lazy. Go and do some research about the technical hub in the US instead of repeating the same regurgitated cr@p you have been spewing from your so called "sources" all over this board. As a matter of fact I do the research for ya.. http://www.forbes.com/sites/elizabethmacbride/2015/12/20/100-influential-iranian-americans-in-silicon-valley-and-beyond/#69533d194e52 Which bit of this is it difficult to comprehend that the ban initially put on everyone? 35. You have missed the point again. An immigrant who has dedicated their lives and made massive contributions has US citizenship is as much american. 37. This is all about money and business as usual. It's all politics and BS to do with human rights in the middle east. Afterall, there are many countries outside middle east with much worse records but no oil but they won't get the spotlight. This is about which oil rich country in the middle east can bend more to get f%#ed by the US..Saudis are obviously doing a great job in this department.... Trump is a businessman and he knows very well how to play the system. When his time is up he will be taken care of... As for brits on the other hand they don't give a hoot about this guy Trump...As far as they are concerned they got the deal they wanted from him and now can turn two fingers to the EU, which is already done with the vote in the parliament...This is all about busines. Even the Queen despises Trump. He is a total embarrassment and the brits know it too well.....But then again what do you expect from an apprentice muppet showbiz: http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/international/legally-i-can-kill-him-queen-confirms-20170131121313

  38. I don't think any of their actions have anything to do with principles or values. Unless, by values you mean to gain control over the second largest oil reserve in the world. Every action in the Middle East has been about the control of oil and to destabilize the region in order to weaken any opposition. Destabilization brings about in-fighting. This is a simple case of divide and conquer. Notice how despite the unstable hell hole Iraq has become, the major oil reserves are totally fine and under the control of U.S. Destabilization also means $$$ for the military industrial complex. The U.S. cannot go without war for too long. They have too many toys that need to be used and eventually replaced.

  39. In 1953 they stood up for their rights by democratically electing a nationalist government who nationalized the oil industry (which was being robbed and stolen by British thieves for many years). Then the British retaliated against a nation who stood up for their rights which was an underdog against British Empire by tricking the Americans into believing that the Communists are about to take over!!!!. So CIA funded and staged a military coup and as a consequence democracy died in Iran forever and Iranian nation have been paying a heavy price ever since. Now they stand up for their rights again against US Empire and it is 2017 and Israel is trying to trick Americans into action. What is going to happen this time is everyone's guess but Iran is much stronger today than in 1953. I don't believe US has the will or military power to confront Iran today and certainly not Israel

  44. Only according to conservatives. What actually happened is that Parliament granted him emergency powers to quell riots that were breaking out everywhere due to public anger and frustration at their maltreatment and impoverishment by Iran's ruling classes. Yes it did, the US and Great Britain are both Christian nations under God.

  45. I think the US did a lot more damage to itself and the world by trashing it's principles while pursuing it's values. We in the meantime sat around like a bunch of useless enablers who let their friends drive drunk while saying and doing squat about it. Now we get rich ourselves outfitting murderous dictatorships like Saudi Arabia with even more capacity for murdering and dictating. We all got it coming.

  46. I think you are right to a certain extent on the US and Iranian collaboration in Iraq. Afterall, Saddam wasn't exactly an ally of Iran. The bit that I disagree with your argument is that US has also privided support indirectly to ISIS through the proxy ally Saudi Arabia that practises Wahabism. If you look at the history most of these fanatics were raised and trained in Saudi Arabia. Osama Bin Ladin?
