Suicidal empathy. Politically weaponizing it is manipulation. This is a common tactic of the left and increasingly more, it's coming from the liberal establishment. Actually, I grew up very left wing as an atheist, but it's morphed & exploded via third world immigration into an openly anti-White cult. The dog has caught the car, Herb, and you're still here preaching magical thinking. Ignore all of human history and human nature when it comes to conflict. Everything will be okay.

Maybe you have had this blissfully ignorant "peace" while your fellow countrymen participated in martial law 2x, amassing of a couple trillion in debt, decades of battles over such ridiculous socialist programmes such as the Canadian Wheat Board (people went to jail extremely illegally over that one) and watched several brain dead administrations of the Uniparty try to set up 50 + 2 sovereign states with one country. Your "peace" came on the backs of a lot of Canadian struggles and free access to the largest market on Earth. And, I am guessing neither you nor anyone from your family served in Korea, Middle East, Bosnia, Somalia or Afghanistan.

1. I don't think we need to stop talking about residential schools at all. If anything, we all need to learn more about it, including students. As i've said, we need to learn more about our history. But that includes all the facts, all the important details and context, not just what is the most politically correct to say or what activists what us to believe while ignoring other facts. My complaint is really how we frame things. The narratives that are being told to us, and reinforced over and over. We need to learn about and recognize the wrong about residential schools, even mourn them, but Canada Day is not the day where that should be front and center. We need at least one day a year to celebrate the good aspects of this country, to come together and feel proud of everything we are and have accomplished, even if it hasn't been perfect. When college kids come out of school and see Canada as an illegitimate colonial project filled with theft and genocide it tells me what I said about progressives: they tend to focus on all the negative aspects of things that are "strong". Throwing the baby out with the bath water. We need a national narrative that's both truthful and positive. I also think this would be better for reconciliation. 2. Ok. See above, it's about the overall way we frame things. 4. I don't have an issue with the myth of Turtle Island. I have an issue with people equating "Turtle Island" with Canada, which isn't even a part of the indigenous myth. Canada would be considered a part of "Turtle Island". 6. Again, it's the overall framing, the messages that are communicated over and over. They affect how we feel about ourselves. And there's a time and place for everything. On Canada Day, let's all come together. For the indigenous we can focus on the fact that we are trying hard on reconciliation and that despite everything we're all still one family, even if we squabble or even have conflict sometimes. Canada Day can be a day of hope and celebration for that, not mourning. When activists frame things as "Cancel Canada Day! Don't celebrate the colonial genocidal project!" it's understandable anger but not helpful. If there's some broken twigs somewhere let's gather them, patch them up, and build, not start a fire with them.

And the peanut gallery cheers it on. Sadly, the rest do sweet f*ck all to stop it but use the laws being struck down and subverted as they do so.

What men and women in free societies do is if they don't like how the society is going they bring the problems to the attention of everyone else and then with like-minded people they seek to make change. The US treats it's soldiers far better than Canadians do...I can tell you that...And i am lucky i did 3 tours there and lived through all of them, it cost me my hearing, my knees, and PTSD, when so many of my comrades' in arms came home in an flag draped aluminum casket, or would later commit suicide...So yes i was lucky. I think we all know someone that has served that has paid a much greater price than i did.... Joining the service was the best thing i could have done, i meet so many of the bravest people on the planet, including US service members...Those were the people i served for, that i dedicated my life to , the men and women on the left and the right of me........i would go to war with any of them any day.... No need to thank me for my service, i didn't do it for , Canada or Canadians, i did it for the men and women in uniform and those that had served in the past.

Well no, a democracy such as ours is where people choose a leader to represent them for their riding. The party that has the most seats generally speaking gets to form government and while it is expected that they will move forward on the agenda that they ran on it is also expected that they will respect the fact that other people had different opinions and try and incorporate them as well. All of the people elected regardless of which party will work to represent the people and all of the voices are valid You seem to feel that If one party gets the most seats even if it's a minority that party is somehow now god or king and can do whatever they like. You're making trump sound like someone who cooperates a lot And that's not the way it is. The fact that someone gains the most seats does not mean that they are in a position to ignore the votes or the representatives of the other people It sounds like both of those statements are untrue. So you really are like North Korea and the left If there's opposition silence it quickly! Don't allow people to have their own voice! HOW DAAAARE YOU QUESTION THE GREAT LEADER!!!!! It's always perfectly valid to complain or question or call into doubt the leadership. Even if you voted for them in fact and that happens fairly often with the right, tho not so much with the more tribal left. Democracy doesn't mean you only get a voice once every 4 years and in between shut up and do what you're told. It is a job of every Canadian to hold the government to account in between elections. It is entirely useful and appropriate and expected for people to Question, complain, criticize and comment on the government on a regular basis This is even more true when it's a minority. There is a very real chance that a 2026 we're going to be back to the polls and discussing the performance of the government between now and then is vital. I think you need to sit down and really rethink your ideas on democracy. This government's mandate is not absolute and it is absolutely appropriate to question them regularly that would be the case for any government.
