Just to point out the numbers again for TLDR types.

Diseny USED to make 16.25 billion dollars in revenue each year.

Then their woke scandals broke. Immidately revenues fell by over 600 million. They contiunued to fall

Disney eventually fired it's woke staff and took a much much less 'woke' corporate stance.

Since then their province have climbed back up to 14.78 billion. Stll about 1.5 billion a year less than they were making, and that's an improvement since they fired the woke people.  Woke has cost them billions of dollars.

It is interesting that what qualifies as "woke" changes from person to person. Our office was accused of this.. because we posted data about unemployment rates by race. Oh.. guess what? What do we get the most requests about from the PUBLIC... oh, that's right, Unemployment rate by race.

I don't think it really shifts much.  Now that its become an insult as well as a description people will throw it around when they're mad. And there are some people who will just abuse it, just like there's losers who go around calling everyone a nazi.

But by and large if pressed i think everyone has roughly the same idea of what it is.

Except there's no proof of what whatsoever. According to the number, Disney has been increasing profits steadily since 2020. But I know conservatives don't care about reality.

I am working at a large firm right now. I have to take regular security lectures and pass their little tests to see if you actually read the stuff. Except one. A course on "Equallity, Equity and Inclusion". That's a very interesting course with some rather...shall we say "new" ideas on management. This is one of the questions...to the best of my recollection:

You are a Hiring Manager. You are interviewing a group of applicants for a certain position. Of them, 2 are an excellent fit for the position. Of the 2, one is white and one is black. The white person happens to be the superior fit of the 2 top choices.

Question: which applicant do you hire?

For your scenario, I would hire the white

We recently had to do a very lengthy recruitment for two economist positions. In the past, if we had the recruitment out for a week.. we would more than meet our quota of 5 applicants. Well, this time.. it took 14 months and we only got to 4. Of those 4.. two were hispanic, one was black and the last one was White/asian/not sure. There were people chiming in about we are "woke" and this was affirmative action. Funny how there is absolutely no barrier to white folks applying.. and yet they did not. Is this woke in your opinion?

No. What's "woke" is that anyone even cares what colour the applicant's skin is.

I would hire the best applicant. However the "correct" answer was the black applicant.

And that too is "woke". So what is "woke"? Its the implementation of rules, based of perceptions of the various human denominations, based solely on a sense of fairness and righteousness to balance a perception of bigotry. A bigotry...I should add...that hasn't really existed in business for...what...20 some odd years or more? But that's only part of "woke".

Its also got to do with things like climate, political beliefs, security concerns, international relations, and the economy. "Woke" touches a lot...if not all...social norms and tuns them on their head.

So I don't know if you imagined this or what, but I never said there was no dip. I said that Disney's profits have been increasing since 2020. I don't know exactly when they "went woke" since right-wing media usually isn't consistent, but your narrative about Disney going broke is wrong. Disney is still one of the biggest media corporations in the world and its profits have been increasing.

Also, I'm pretty sure that dip had more to do with covid, since most companies were hit during that time.

I hate to break it to you, but corporations have always virtue-signaled. When Marvel and DC found out that there was an increase in girls reading comic books, they started making more stories with their lady heroes. It's not that Marvel and DC went "woke," they just like making money. When a network finds out that black people are more likely to watch TV at, say, six o'clock, they make sure that time has a show with a black cast. Is that virtue-signaling? No, that's just a corporation wanting to make more money.

If you only published unemployment figures in the aggregate, you’d surely be accused of whitewashing the unemployment status of minorities.

I wonder about that.  The fact is right now it's DEATH to your career and insta-cancel if you don't appear hard left in the entertainment industry. You MUST express a strong left wing view.  But - there's a lot of reason to believe many people are faking it and don't really lean that way. I suspect if there WAS a 'safe space' so to speak where there was no punishment for "wrongthink" then a very surprising  number of actors would turn out to be more right of center or center

What is the most comical is how we get these requests for very granular information... black unemployment rate in Humboldt County, NV... Just think about that for a second. The black population in this very rural county is 100 at most. Being that unemployment rate data is based on a statistical model (not a count).... it will have a margin of error of 100%.. not useful in the least.
