Darwin Strikes Again....

Or develop storage methods. Or develop renewables. Or use Natural Gas Electricity as an alternative to the wildly inefficient Gasoline/Internal Combustion Engine industry.

The EV vehicle will be replaced by a better technology.  Probably hydrogen.

I think Hydrogen will work for things like Aviation and shipping.

But Hydrogen stations at every corner sounds somewhat troublesome.

Also Hydrogen is quite energy intensive to extract. It's only worth it if it's made from Green Energy in the first place.

It is pretty simple, it’s just not built into today’s cars.

I’ve worked in technology for decades, and it’s remarkable how stupid some people can be about it.  “I can’t do it right this instant” does not mean, “It’s impossible.”  And what is a REALLY simple problem? Getting electricity to flow out of a battery. Yes, it’s very expensive to do in your home right now with available products, but it’s already being specified into the next generation of electric car charging standards.

Only the willfully blind think that solar or wind farms do not destroy the environment.

Yeah, I’ve actually got a 200 watt incandescent light bulb, and it’s on right now.  Somewhere a baby environmentalist is dying...

Only a complete nitwit would count on the wind to power a nation. And only a destructive little Tweenkie could conclude that the cost of this BS is justified.

Do you KNOW ANYTHING about climate science? I ask because you're posting like an IDIOT pretending climate change is NOT hugely EXPENSIVE.

Bosch(in Europe) recently announced that they are putting 4 billion into hydrogen cells.  Europe seems to be leading on this.  American Environmentalists are stuck on electric for some reason.

Well...Hydrogen did have its moments in the past. Perhaps it has an effect on US choices.

But LOX and H2 make a lovely eco-friendly rocket fuel.

Back dishing out more stupid, huh?

Of course any industrial operation consumes resources and creates pollution. Duh. The goal here is to maintain or improve our lifestyle, not make us all ride bicycles.

In your analysis of environmental destruction, did you compare the impact of solar and wind to the impacts of coal, nuclear power and natural gas-generated electricity?

And yet people start fires every year by cell phone while fueling their autos.  Are hydrogen fuel cells any more dangerous than gasoline or natural gas?

Edit:  Or at least while fueling...

Well the Carbon taxes existed last year, and the year before that. So it's not that. Carbon Taxes amounted for a 2 cent/litre increase this year. And many provinces have decided to stop collecting Gas Tax while the prices are so high.

What changed? Oh! one of the world's largest oil and gas producers started a war with its neighbour causing mass instability in the sector and forcing Western Europe to decide between Oil and Gas or supporting a dictator invading an independent democracy.

Also, a Cartel of Oil producing nations have refused to ramp production back up to pre-pandemic levels even though the demand is most certainly there.

But yeah, it's the Carbon Tax. ?

Such silliness. As I said...man up. Everything that's happened has been asked for. All of it.

The form of hydrogen needed for hydrogen cars is very energy intensive to produce and it is highly reactive. The hydrogen immediately reacts when exposed to air. So it’s not so much the fuel cell, it’s the fuel itself that is problematic.

Yes, the most abundant element in the universe is too just expensive to extract. Get that out there now so it can sink into the same blockheads and they can spout that for ten pages 20 years from now.

You know them. The ones that shouldn't have to get out of the way when a speeding bus is coming. It's a "natural" occurrence, every ten minutes or so....

Extracting hydrogen from electrolysis takes a tremendous amount of electricity. Most hydrogen is produced from natural gas by thermal processes. This requires very high temperatures which have to be produced from some kind of fuel.

In its liquid form hydrogen must also be maintained at minus 253 degrees C.
