Russia and Mr. Trump

So private servers are good now. Just freekin hilarious.

To be fair, the private server that is being reference was one belonging to the Trump organization in NYC. It supposedly is used for marketing purposes by Trump Hotels, but generally marketing efforts are to a broad spectrum of people. This server had almost 90% of its traffic from Alfa bank in Russia, and the rest with Spectrum Health in Michigan. Some of the leaders of Alfa bank are alleged to have close ties with Vladimir Putin.

How do you separate President Trump from his businesses? He has shown he is not willing to regardless of what he has said.

I for one hope that Trump does have closer ties with Putin/Russia, because President Obama effed that all up after President Bush's administration.   Antagonizing Russia has led to all kinds of unnecessary conflict when mutual interests should have fostered better relations.

Canada should also pursue its own interests with respect to Russia, instead of depending on and worrying about what the Americans and their president will do.

Trump and Putin could become BFF's long before Trump and Trudeau, which is not likely to ever happen.

Legally, Trump is not required to separate anything.   Putin and Trump have mutual geo-political interests that include businesses he owns, and Rex Tillerson knows how important the oil "file" is.

Exactly, he can't separate his business and personal interests from his responsibilities to the American people.

I've been scratching my heads for months trying to figure out just WHY there is such a close connection between Trump, his team, and the Kremlin.  What is the motive for Trump to be so close to Russia?  Well, a plausible answer is in this dossier, which I've read several pages of so far, and from what it's explained here, the Russian gov had found an amicable partner with desires for running for POTUS who hates the Obama's as much as the Kremlin does, and also a candidate who will piss off and divide western countries/NATO, which is in Russia's interests.  The Kremlin has thrown all sorts of help, support, bribes etc to Trump to get him elected over the last several years, and Trump has seemed to embrace whatever support he can get from whatever seedy characters they are, including the KKK.

If this is all true, the Russians unfortunately now have compromising material on Trump they can use to blackmail him to get what they want.  Trump is also accused here of cooperating with Russia to undermine Clinton through illegal means like hacking of her emails.  You've got to wonder if Trump is on a one-way path to being impeached, at least if the Democrats control Congress after the mid-terms.  But given all the corrupt things Trump has done in his business life, and never seems to have any legal problems from it, I'll bet his skills at avoiding such things will mean he'll never come close to impeachment.

World-wide oil production is also important to the "American people"....Putin is part of that dealio.   Counter-terrorism against radical Islamists is also important to the "American people".

The source isn't Buzzfeed.  Buzzfeed is just publishing documents that have been circling the FBI, CIA, Congress, and the rest of Washington for months.

And that other news sources chose not to publish because they're completely unverified. But because it makes Trump look bad, Buzzfeed was like Bleep It!

So then they're not believing Buzzfeed. They're believing the unverified report. Nobody is questioning whether the report is real--just whether the information in it is true.

And yet because the bogeyman MSM chose to publish what was in the Podesta emails, etc., without verification, it made Hillary look bad, and you didn't even think to question whether the unverified emails were true. Funny how that works.

The podesta emails were from wiki leaks.  It was good enough to publish the manning leaks, it's good enough to publish the rest

Were you supportive of the press publishing the Wikileak e-mails?

I'm not supportive of the press being forced to publish unverified news for either camp. But when Fake News Sites don't seem to have the same journalistic integrity here we are.

Why would that be when Trump says he has no business or interests in Russia?

The people have spoken-- they don't want "elites" deciding what's news!   Journalistic standards, ethics, objectivity, all that is finished. The people have spoken and they want short, nuance-free coverage that supports their preconceptions and demonizes people they disagree with. Breitbart became a huge success using that model, and imitators were bound to appear.

Trump was ok with "fake news" when Hillary was the subject of it. But now that he's on the receiving end, he's fighting mad. At the press conference, Breitpravda reporter Matt Boyle asked:

“[With] all the problems that we’ve seen throughout the media over the course of the election, what reforms do you recommend for this industry here?”

One wonders if the thin-skinned President will take action.  It's a fine line to walk... how can he suppress legitimate coverage of his administration while still allowing Breitpravda to spew propaganda and Alex Jones to spew crazy-talk?

Take action on what ?   People can "spew" whatever they want, regardless of President Trump.   This is not Canada (publication bans).

I'm not saying this but smart people, tremendous people are saying the Russians have more than the golden shower chronicles on Trump. They claim there's tapes of him with underage boy prostitutes. I don't think he's that kind of guy, but you've got to ask the question when rumour is he donates to NAMBLA. I don't think he does but people are talking and without his tax record, how are we to know? I'm sure he will release his tax records any day now to set things "straight."

The mindless hysteria going on in the media is really sad, disgusting and straight out harmful to democracy.  They want to bring down a president, make no mistake about it.  They'll do anything as we now know.  Remember how rabid they got about the birthers?  Now they are the birthers.

I think a lot of it has to do with the cord cutting phenomenon brought about by streaming videos and online providers.  People don't want to get soaked for cable bills and the networks are paying the price.

That and their little party is over.  Trump represents possible seismic change and a lot of people are afraid of said change
