The closer we come to these elections, the more interesting they appear to be.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election

There are quite a few possible outcomes:

Expected:

Hillary is Democratic Candidate, Trump is Republican Candidate - Hillary wins easily.

There are a couple nightmare scenarios:

1. Sanders is a registered Independent. He is not a Democrat. Hillary comes into the convention and wins only because she gets 98% of the super delegates. These delegates (about 700 including uncommitted) will probably make the difference. These are DEMOCRATIC mayors, governors, congressman, senators and elected members of the Democratic National Committee. These are Democrats true and blue and will not vote for an Independent over a Democrat. Sanders gets pi$$ed and decides to run as an Independent.

The Republicans nominate Trump.

Hillary and Bernie split the vote and the Donald is President of the USA as the Republican House of Representatives (run by Tea Party) makes the decision.

2. Bernie is pi$$ed and runs as an Independent, Hillary runs as the Democrat. Trump gets elbowed out during the Convention and decides to run as an Independent, the Republicans nominate (Cruz or somebody like Kasich) their man.

Four people running for president. Trump gets his loyal supporters voting for him. Results Hillary 27%, Bernie 27%, Kasich 17% and Trump 29% (I know it is the Electoral College votes that count) . Trump gets 29% through his crazies and a few other weirdos or enough to have the plurality. The House of Representatives (run by Tea Party) make the selection - The Donald is the next President of the USA.

It's beginning to look like Trump might not be the GOP candidate after all. I'm afraid boring might win out in the end.

Oh well. Maybe the World Series will go to seven games.

Hillary has the majority of women obviously and blacks - although that's slipping, but Bernie has the younger voters. Hillary has to be terrified that the young socialists, which there are many, simply reject the idea of voting and don't bother coming out.

The Republicans face a similar dilemma if a brokered convention makes someone other than Trump their nominee. I think both parties face a potential rift, but on the Republican side there's the potential for outright revolt.

For the Democrats, I expect that the phrases "President Trump" or "President Cruz" would get younger voters out to the polls to support Hillary.

Hillary will be the next POTUS. Who will be the VP?

It would be incredible if she was to pick Bernie as the veep, though there is very little chance of that.

Bernie is elected president, Hillary gets VP. Bernie dies of old age in first year of term, Hillary now president.

Everybody happy.

Bernie dies of old age in first year of term,

Sanders will be 75 when the new President is sworn in. Queen Elizabeth just celebrated her 90th birthday today. Do you know something about Sanders' health that the rest of us don't?

I believe Ronald Raegan was the oldest serving President, aged 69-77 (actually just shy of 78 by about a week when he retired) during his two terms.

If Bernie wanted to take out life insurance to-day, how much do you think he would be paying in premiums?

Assuming Bernie was born in 1940:

I would be charging him about 10% of his coverage monthly.

Where has Bernie Sanders ever said he would run as an independent? Are you just making this up?

Brokered convention?

Every four years, I have been hearing of this since, uh, 1952. (I'm old; born in 1694). To me, 2016 is no different.

The NYT has a great website where you can do different primary numbers. Whatever the scenario, Trump crosses over in California. I think Rodham-Clinton before in May.

Brokered conventions aside, it appears that it will be Rodham-Clinton vs Trump in the Fall and all current polls, market-prediction sites, point to a Democrat win. The next US president will be Hillary Clinton.

I think Hillary should thank the stars she has to face Cruz or Trump on the Republican side. I don't think she'd have any chance of becoming POTUS if she were against Romeny or McCain.

I think the next president will be Donald Trump. I think his populist/protectionist/semi-isolationist message will resonate more with voters than Hillary Clinton's message of the opposite.

Even Sanders will beat Trump.

You have a few Muslims agreeing with you:

Small numbers of Muslims find comfort, not concern, in Trump's strong stance on immigrants. They see it as proof that the Republican presidential front-runner could better contain extremists than other candidates. "People have the wrong idea, even Arabs and Muslims," said Tamer, 40, who works in real estate and construction and lives in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn, which is known for its large Arab and Muslim population. "I like the fact that he's a little nuts. He's got the good heart, he cares about America."

See, you are on the same side as the Muslims! :D

There are some 7 billion people on this earth, about 300 million in America and 30 million in Canada.

BC_chick, at a global level, you are among the 1%. You're very, very rich.

But here's the key question: Will taking from you in fact make anyone else in the world better?

Except the donald will have to deal with a hostile congress and senate. Expect 4-8 more years of the same. People are getting worked up for nothing. The real "change" is if marco rubio would have won the primary and had a congress with senate to work with and actually pass laws...

Not so important...it's about some of those 1% feeling better about themselves.

The next POTUS can't really help that, no matter who it may be.

Cruz and Kaisich teaming up is/was a bad idea. These guys heads are spinning because they just don't know the game that they're playing.

Getting 60% of the votes from 2 opponents (Cruz and Kasich) - is extraordinary!

Hillary got it smooth-sailing with just Sanders and the Dems establishment behind her.......

........ whereas Trump had to fight not only his opponents and the media....but also the Republican establishment,

every step of the way, from day 1.

WHO'S WINNING? :)
